  2. Man Michael,You've got some mileage out of those Craftsman sockets. OMG..........! Almost wore through the chrome vanadium! :wow Dave
  3. So does the spring give up tension on a stock one as well?It don't mean a thing till you aint got that spring! LOL

  7. Keydl,Much agreed! I had a magnet off of an old 6x9 speaker that has been on the side of one of my heavy duty vices. I decided to stick it on the bottom of my oil pan. It's too big for my filter. I just need to remember to pull it off before I drain my oil next time. I kept it close to the drain plug so it all gets carried away with the next drain.I'm wondering if one would work on the pan of my auto tranny drain pan as well? Dave
  8. Michael & Keydl,Thanks guys. My steering is much better but it could use a little tweeking. I'm sure that will do the trick. Thanks for the how-to on that as well. What would I ever do without this message forum? Be cool,Dave
  9. keydl,Are you saying you like the Frantz or not? I couldn't make heads or tails of what your point was, sorry I did not comprehend your reply. I'm going to put a strong magnet on the bottom of my filter as instructed by Michael, another good tip. :thumbsup Dave
  10. Good post,I've been checking them out, I think in the LCM catalog as well. Thorsen maybe or something close to that name. The price was more than that by 100 bucks or more. Glad to hear that it works as claimed. Let me get my worn out parts fixed. My biggest problem on the ball joint wear was they were not kept greased. On the right lower I have to look where the rubber boot was. I bought a new grease gun from TSC just to keep them full everytime I change oil & rotate tires. The grease is that black stuff that they used to use in the steel mills for all the heavy duty equipment.Dave
  11. Say Mike,See what a 2002 will do for you. :thumbsup Just as long as life is not a drain. 8| I need to find a used bedliner as well while I'm at it. There was one in my truck before someone put in a fifth wheel hitch. Original owner had one in.As always, thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Never go straight, always go forward, :D Dave
  12. Hi Guys,Need some front end parts. Pass side out tie rod. Decided to go with a Moog because it was called problem solver. Sort of expensive, 70 bucks or so with tax.Now I still need to get both ball joints on the drivers side & a steering stabilizer. Any words of advice? What did you guys use as replacement parts? Is it better than OEM?Thanks,Dave
  13. Hi M73M,Actually, I've been considering them. Benn watching the prices of a few on Ebay. Frantz, & some that claim to be similiar.Need to get my front suspension tightened up first. :thumbsup Maybe I'll look for another plug for my next oil change. Just did it about 500 miles ago. Thanks,Dave
  14. Hi Guys,I've just been using an extra large cresent wrench to loosen & tighten my plug, & being very careful not to round off the corners. My sockets only go up to an inch or so in standard & 24mm in metric. The next time I go to the tool store I'd like to purchase a dedicated 6 point socket just for the plug.I also saw a magnet that attaches to the oil filter in one of my catalogs, do the work? I think most of the stuff getting in the oil is non-magnetic anyhow! Thanks,Dave
  15. 0124vctd,Can you get a pic or two of the BHAF & heat shield on here so we can check out your design. Thanks Dave
  16. Hey Guys,I will check out my local Cummins dealer too. Did someone here say that they purchased a Baldwin oil filter at Wally World? All I saw at mine was Fram for 4.25.Also, I was looking for a locking fuel cap, what is a pre-vent? Aren't they all vented? The parts guy didn't know either! :D Thanks,Dave
  17. Any deals on the gen 2 filter? Seems like around here Napa, Auto Zone, & Advance, the filter cost is about 30 bucks each. On line they seem to bee about 15 but with the shipping it ends up being the same. :rolleyes :|
  18. Thanks Michael,Edge Comp, is that the one most guys are using for the Cummins? A friend of mine told me that Dr. Performance won't throw codes or won't have to reflash the computer when/if putting it back to stock. What does TST stand for as far as abreviation? Thanks for the edumacation!Dave
  19. Educate me here please, what does the TST plate do? :smart
  20. Oven Cleaner, sounds like something I will try! Just saturate the entire engine with it?
  21. Thanks Michael, what have you done to keep yours looking factory fresh? Just keeping it hosed off?Dave
  22. OK,So my valve cover has not taken the test of time very well. In fact it looks unsightly. When I do the valve adjust, I'd like to clean up & resore the lettering or maybe just clear it all after its been cleaned. Much of the clear coat is chipped away. Anyone done this? What products should I use? Wire wheel on a die grinder to clean maybe? And?Thanks,Dave
