  1. Hi Guys,On Friday went to get hay, while pulling my trailer I experienced no hunt & drove over 50 miles. :thumbsup I took it down to Autozone after I was done, had the alternator checked, 13.89 volts, It passed all tests :smart including diode pattern good.I should have know this, Duh! The alternator doesn't kick into full charge until the 12V heater grid is shut down, once that happens then up to 14V, hence the delay. I'm learning. My 6.9 Ferd, just went to full charge after start up. LOL What's bad is, what happens if this occurs while I'm driving it on vacation? Does this gear hunt damage the 47RE at all? BTW fluid looks & feels fine. The mechanic that performed the 4th gear hunt surgery checked her over last September, saidthe transmission tail shaft was replaced, so I'm thinking I may have a rebuild. It does shift a little unsmooth normally. Thanks,Dave
  2. Locking cap is really for piece of mind. If they really wanted the fuel they would only have to punch a hole in the plastic tank!
  3. Cool story Russ, I bet you've got a million of 'em!Try changing the fluid to get the 2% accumulation of water/condensation out per year so the rust on the pistion calipers doesn't come back so fast.Dave
  4. After driving over 125 miles yesterday the last 5 miles had the hunt on all the time when it should be in Lockup overdrive.I'm looking for a reman alt. I hope this gets me back on the road to lockupsville! So is this the second cause of my problem?Dave
  5. Also depends how hard the E-brake was pushed down. Maybe you might get lucky, if after the shoes were worn down maybe it didn't cause anymore damage.Come on boy, pay attention! :mad Know what you mean.Dave
  6. OK, so here's the deal. The alternator is showing full charge after a minute, but this morning I got a check gauges lite that was on longer than expected. The hunt is only at speeds between 40-50. Not always. Is this normal, I only get full charge after a minute seems longer than any other vehicle I've had. all others were after start up.Thanks, Dave
  7. How can I tell what Alt I have? Bosch or Denso? Connections maybe? I'll have to see if I can find the name anywhere. Would I be able to get a diode pack? I saw a used one, alternator, on ebay for like 45 bucks. Thanks,Dave :thumbsup
  8. Maybe only 2WD. It does say 2500 & 3500 on the listing.
  9. IAB,I bet it does! Anyway to have that put on YouTube for all of us to enjoy your greatness? :thumbsup Dave
  10. JL,Did you get this problem solved? What was it? :bulb Dave
  11. Kerry,Don't drive the truck until you can get this low fuel pressure problem rectified. Also check out M73M's 2cycle oil solution solvers. Basically, he adds 1 oz to every gal of fuel. Protects the LP & the IP.Dave
  12. Great reply Cummins2k, :smart I thought that was Mr Mopar responding. You are dead on!
  13. Maybe this is only for a 1500! :thumbsup http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/de/full.aspx?Page=95
  14. Hey Mr Mopar, Here is the link! http://www.genosgarage.com/prodinfo.asp ... _ARK_BOSCH Let me know, Dave
  15. Isn't after 2002 or there abouts rack & pinion?
  16. I was checking out the kit from Geno's for rebuilding the alternator, it just has bearings & brushes. Wouldn't touch that possible diode problem huh? Thanks,Dave
  17. Really........wow.............I would have never thought! I will get it to a code reader & test the alt. If I need, should I just get a rebuild kit from Geno's Garage?Dave
  18. BFly,That sucks! How old was the old Dog? Lets us know what happened. Hopefully it do anymore damage then it would as if you ran out of fuel to the IP> :confused Good luck,Dave
  19. Yep, go to ebay & do a search on Cummins. Bought two 6 inch "C" for .99 each. Nice quality too. Also hats, patches, t-shirts, & jackets. Dave
  20. Hi guys,Michael, I did your fix for this problem but today it's back. ` I had a very knowledgeable mechanic run the lines & followed the procedure precisely. It has not given me a hint of trouble. That was September of 08. Now it's hunting again. What to do? What was repaired still looks good, as far as connections & such. No, I did not have any codes checked yet,Dave
  21. Tonka,So far, knock on wood, my wally world locking gas cap is working great. I went with the one that didn't say pre-vent on it.Dave
  22. Also , the best price for the pillar mounts is on Ebay!
  23. I want to install my gauges on the pillar but was wondering how difficult it is snakinking the wire down through the factory pillar. Do the exit under the dash & out the firewall?
  24. You know me.............LOL > :moon
