  1. Yep,Michael will help us keep our trucks running young. Gotta' love it!Dave
  2. Michael,I have no idea why the batteries are not the same, they are the identical brand. It was not until the first guy doing the test asked me & I found the numbers. He didn't seem to even raise an eyebrow at it. Its been running like that since 11/03, or so.Next time I buy batteries I will pay close attention to that. BTW they are Autolight Premium Titanium. I've had my Cummins since April '08The rebuild was pretty easy really. Did it all in a few hours. The gauge is now where it belongs. Instructions, bushings & bearings were in the kit. Like I stated before, 40 bucks & change to my door as apposed to 150 for a reman.Mine had 180,000k so I could almost rebuild it 4x's for that money. The bearings were fine really, it was just the brushes that were used up. I'd do it again, a real money saver!Dave
  3. Well my Volt gauge is saying that I'm no longer getting 14 volts. Took it to an auto parts store to get a diagnosis &said it was the alternator. So I went to the good folks at Geno's Garage to hook me up with an alternator rebuild kit for my Denso. shipped to my door was a little over 40 bucks, as opposed to 150 or more. Should be here any day.Never rebuilt one, I'll let you know how it turns out. I'll pass on a piece of advice that one guy that checked my charging system offered, was to charge the batteries one at a time not in series. Just take off the negative cables. Don't want to replace these babies, one is 800 cold cranking amps & the other is 1,000 I slow charged them with my Battery Tender one at a time.
  4. Michael should have a section on that under maintanence!
  5. I have a set of Firestone on mine LT215/85R 16 that do just fine for me. Except when I was pulling my Jet Ski's out of the lake, couldn't get over the slick sea weed from the previous nights storm & slid into the dock hit a nail that was sticking out & sliced the tire causing a slow leak. I had trouble trying to find another used one to use as a spare. Tire guys said it was an oddball size, true?My milege is better than a 4 cyl. 5 speed 1989 Dodge Dakota that I was using as a full time driver. Bought it almost new. I had to downshift that thing on every hill almost. Best I ever got on that was on a trip out West, like 25.Dave
  6. Hey Russ,Now that's it's cooling down, did you get that backhoe going? How's the truck running w/ the 4 incher? :D Dave
  7. What size drill bit do I need to resize the banjo fittings? Thanks, Dave
  8. jl,How long did the install take you? Any problems? Thanks,Dave
  9. slr,I found my mechanical gauge on Ebay. I just mounted it in the truck. It's the first one every VP44 24V'er should have.Welcome to Mopar1973Man.com Best of the best, as far as I'm concerned! :thumbsup Dave
  10. Yup, you bet, works awesome! I got it because you were running it on your truck. I have over 2,000 miles on this oil & it still's clean. I have only 600 w/ the Frantz. When should I do my first TP change? How often should I change my standard filter. Deborah from WEFILTERIT.com sent me some facts from some of the users. Said they were running their oil 80,000 miles before change with oil analysis.Cummins Crazy! B)
  11. I believe the codes are on 2000 & newer models.Check the simple things first, fuel filter Clean? What's the fuel pressure?
  12. Frantz uses the same filter, Scott 1000 TP. I can get a roll at the Dollar General store. Don't they all work on the same design? I have a question? When do we need to change the stock filter if the Frantz filters down to 1/10th of a micron? Some guys are running this filter as a fuel filter. Wouldn't that be restrictive?
  13. I bought mine on Ebay. 47 bucks! Everything but the fittings & hose! I did buy my fittings & hose from the We Filter It site. Deborah was very helpful. Soon as I received my fittings in the mail I went to work on the install. I did use the ams fitting in the oil cap. The threaded rod was a little short, so I had to take it apart & improvise a little. Glued it back together w/ 2 part epoxy. So far, so good! This Frantz works great, Dave
  14. Wow! I can't believe no code. Is there a port to try w/ a hand scanner like on my 98.5?
  15. Hey flagman,Did the upgrade make a difference in performance or MPG? I bet it sounds cool! You prolly didn't even need to raise the truck to do the install. ;) DaveUsin' that backhoe this summer?
  16. Seems like it to me!Wannabe Idahoian! B)
  17. Michael put me on to the noise with the capacitors in the alternator, had mine checked at Autozone. First checked was the charging capability & then checked the pattern on the capacitors, mine said charging OK, good pattern & passed the test. So in my case I had no noise causing my 4th gear hunt.In a heartbeat, I would not hesitate in getting my computers reflashed at the dealer. I have found a local guy that knows the Dodge Cummins like the back of his hand. Lucky me! :bulb cky me!All the best,Dave
  18. Hi all,Just wanted to let you know that the link that Cummins2k posted was a awesome lead. I received a call from Deborah from the site last night on my cell, she is very knowledgeable about the Frantz product. She was able to answer questions about the fittings I needed for the install & knew specifically what I needed to complete the install, what works best and so on. :smart In this day of automation, & phone operators that don't know their product or that can communicate, Deborah was a positve God send!. :thumbsup Thank you everyone,Dave
  19. Sort of hoping my stock system would rot away for the same reason. LOL
  20. I forgot to thank you for posting that link, I did bookmark.Michael, doesn't someone on your site or that you know make an APPS replacement? Are you running one? Thanks again,Dave
  21. I will be making and installing one on the 02 I have now (to replace the infamous sludge jar) and will report back here on the results. It will be awhile though. I am impressed that there is a bout 2K miles on the current oil change and the oil is not discolored much. :thumbsup
  22. Michael,Do you have a link to your setup so that I can check it out?Thank you kindly,DaveBTW, got my fittings ordered from we filter it so that I can install my Frantz. I can't believe all of the so called car guys around my area that have never heard of Frantz or a TP filter. :smart
  23. The mechanic told me that it was an updated version, probably, I'm thinking, because of the recall.
