  1. Yep, I second that, go with a big line kit, you'll be glad you did. I believe M73M has his improvements just before upgrading to an Air Dog somewhere here on his site.I wish I would have known about this web site before I replaced my weak Carter back in June of 09. You got a better deal on your Airtex then I did on my latest version Carter. I went to a Cummins dealer. Good thing I did because the Dodge dealer said that the only replacement he has is the intank replacement, the worst of all worlds! I would have at least went with an Airtex & moved it from the stock location so that it would be a pusher, & like you I would have upgraded to a big line kit when the funds were available.Happy CTD,Dave
  2. Went over to youtube to give you a thumbsup as well, great job! Thanks for taking the time to post.Dave
  3. Yep, that's the way I look at it! I plan on keeping her for a long time, so I just address the situationas it comes up. It sits in the garage 90% of the time at least, so I'm not wearing out parts that way!
  4. Wow! Thanks for the link, that is so cool! How did you find that? Thanks again,Dave
  5. Will that fit in my stock 98.5 filter housing? Not familiar, sorry!
  6. Rotella dino seems to test better across the board as compaired to regular conventional oils in the tests I've read.
  7. kameronk, My truck is fine, just want to avoid possible problems. How's it going? Is there a link for this for me to check out the procedure for doing a compression check. Never done one on a diesel. I have for 2 & 4cycle gassers. Thanks, Dave
  8. If you want to go above that - then its a new TC + VB - probably run you $900 + install ...... So what TC + VB is in this price range? All the TC's I've checked out in Diesel Power, websites, & the like seem to start at around $1200. Are we talkin' stock stuff here for the replacement? Thanks,Dave
  9. So does PennzOil make all the SuperTech stuff? I run the cheapest price syn motor oil in all my gas cars as well, instead of like a Mobil1. Just am curious about who makes the other SuperTech products is all. Thanks, Dave
  10. Me too, knock wood, my vp44 has been throwing the 0216 code since I had her for 2 1/2 years. I don't drive it everyday but that was at 164k & i now have 188K. I finally have an Air Dog Raptor on it's way today, I'm hoping. My problem is the timing gear, at 50-55 I have to back pedal once usually & it's fine. I've been babying mine though, but I do use it to pull a small horse trailer & for haulin hay in the summer.I believe mine is an original as well. When I got my computer re-flashed last June of 09 at a Dodge dealer, he said these VP44's are stronger than most guys give them credit for. I to ran mine w/ a lp going weak. I did not know what my lil red low pressure fuel light was for. Thought it was for letting know that my turbo was at full pressure at WOT, that's how stupid I was. I kept asking gus & no one knew what the light was for. So stupid is as stupid duz for me. How bad was that? So mine is still going, & it has not taken a turn for the worse. It cranks right over as soom as i touch the key. Even if I have not driven it for a week or more, hot or cold. Yersterday morning was 22F, so fingers still crossed here.Dave
  11. Man that's cold. I'm a believer in what Michael writes. The best insurance is the cheapest dtuff from Wally World, but again I never get that cold here thank God! The Tech brand in not synthetic anyway correct? Dave
  12. Are we talking stock filter for the vp44? Most guys here prolly run an Air Dog or a Fass FP & filters. At least a $500 setup! Dave --- Update to the previous post... Oh, I just run a Fleetguard, best price I found was from Geno's.
  13. I must be lucky here on my gauge, I can run mine below the line with no worries, it does have about a gallon in it at that point. I did that before I have to drop the tank. Had to drop the tank to change my brake line last June.
  14. kameronk,So what are you figuring out here? Leave the enginge in & just address the #5 piston problem & use the stock gasket? Seems that's they way you're sorta heading. I guess I should do a compression test/check myself then.Get 'er Runnin,Dave
  15. W & F,What do you run on your fine stable or vehicles? I'd love to have them all myself.Dave
  16. Cool G1, I'm happy for you that you got her runnin' again. I'm like you in one respect electrical problems are not my strong suite. So the next time your light for fuel & you get the warning chime, don't run out of fuel & get to the nearest station. BTW, are you adding something to protect your VP44 from the very low lubrication of the ULSD? On the bright side, you now have up to date coolant, so you did something to help in the longevity of your CTD. Try to get a FP gauge on as soon as possible. Take a look at Michael's 0-30, I like that one best, mine only goes to 20, & I think it was like 50 bucks or so or a half tank of fuel! Let us know if this really was in fact the problem, we've got our fingers crossed! (-: Long live your CTD, Dave --- Update to the previous post... OH yes, WELCOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dave
  17. Great info to know when we do comparative shopping. So isn't the PureOne the lowest cost of them all as well?
  18. Bronzebeard,How's it going? can't wait to see all your pix, especially if it all works out for you!Go GP Go,Dave
  19. Ground issue...................Great that the problem is solved..............I'm checking out all the postings for the FP & Raptor in particular.Have fun w/ you CTD,Dave
  20. Where did you get this info? I did not know that a Wix XE was not as good as a standard. Huh!
