  1. This problem is starting to happen more after a warm or hot restart within the first mile, tach drops down to nothing, CE light comes on, engine rattles real hard for a mile or two. If I was to stop at a light, the engine has a rough idle, today I put it in neutral I kept juicin' it a little just so it wouldn't stall. After a mile down the road it all returned to normal. My FP was in my normal14-16 range while driving the entire time.:shrug:Anyone experience this?Dave
  2. My Muffler is starting to have some rust issues on the after pipe, so it's only a matter of time. Was thinking of just keeping the factory res & going straight pipe! I keep mig welding the tail pie back on but that only lasts about 1k miles. I have some 16ga that might help for awhile. Just keep riggin it up! I will keep that in mind if I need. That's my neck of the woods! Dave:hyper:
  3. Congrats! My blood pressure was rising as I read each post. Glad you got er dun! Dave:hyper:
  4. Didn't know what else to call the exploded view. I hear you on the money Bro! Good luck!Dave
  5. If you're worried about it, add a fuel stabilizer. Lucas is supposed to blend fuel even with water.
  6. That would be excellent. I know just enough to get into trouble. I don't, but do you have a schematic on the trans? Making tools, that's so cool! Thanks, Dave:doh:
  7. :truck:Fire, You would give us the firepower if you did just that. Not only would we be able to hold our horses, but we could also pork out torque! The auto trans can be very intimidating! It's gotta be CTD,Dave
  8. I rented a puller from Advance Auto parts. I didn't need any heat either!
  9. Yikkes! --- Update to the previous post... I think 190K out of mine!
  10. Oh Man! I like the unlimited part! A Transmission specialist told me that if you change the fluid in an auto every 30K, the tranny should last the life of the vehicle. I don't know about in a tow vehicle like we put ours through. I did put a mechanical trans temp gauge in I only had it off the 130 degree F mark only a few times. So for what I use my truck for I may be OK w/ that statement. I still want to see a rebuild of a 47RE, that would be so cool if that gets up on here! Dave
  11. Wish you would have had those up before I did mine. Great job,:cool:Dave
  12. So, what is this costing, if I may ask? My trans was low a qt. so I put in another bottle of Lucas Trans Fix & had no problems taking it on vacation, 866 miles!
  13. Thanks Michael, can tell by the way my topper fits from a Fjord of the same year. Ahh nutz!
  14. Two years ago I went w/ Moog, mine are still solid!
  15. Gasser, Mine started doing the same thing when I changed my fluid & filter 2-3 shift. I but a bottle of Lucas trans no slip in it & it seems to help. Yesterday, I was pulling a 6x12 inclosed trailer w 50 bales of hay & 5 bags of horse feed w/ no issue. I drove at least 75 miles hyway & city driving. Sometimes, when that light comes on it's too late, :cry:that's why I put a trans temp gauge in mine too while I was at it! Someone else on here did the same thing w/ the F&F change & was fine too. The Lucas helped mine & my TC has been diagnosed w/ being or getting weak. Mine has 190K so I can't _____! Good luck,Dave
  16. I've been using my bed w/ no liner for the last 3 yrs. Cardboard & exercise mats. It's ok untin I get a 1/2 ton of grain on a pallet & they use the tow motor to push it the rest of the way in. I did think I struck gold the other day, one was for sale by the owner in front of his grain store. After taking some measurements seemed like it would fit. I would have tossed it in but my grain was already loaded. To complicate things, I have a fiberglass topper. After 3 trips, no one was around to help me w my shell. After talking w/ Michael on the phone the other day, he expained how the beds were changed w each generation. Thank you for that but i wish I new that before. My 76 Dodge was perfect w any 8ft topper on it but w/ the gen 2's the bed is 2 in closer in the back. I'll have to look around in some salvage yards for the correct gen 2 liner. Dave
  17. I feel your pain Michael, I did mine 2 years ago about 3 days before leaving on vacation. The best I could get locally was all 4 Moog. Truck is still solid. I figured the job would be done in a day. At the end of the first day my Bro-in-law did come over to help w/ the heavy stuff, tool runnin. Some over size sockets I didn't have. It took me every bit of 2 1/2 days, start to finish w my wife chirpin at me, that part was no fun! But she did take care of the farm so I could get 'er done!:banghead: Everyone tells me about having to keep replacing ball joints when these trucks are kept for the long term, that's why I went w Moog but even they break down. I don't get it everyone ******* ';bout Dodges, I hear they should have put that engine in a Fjord. My friends ball joints in his E350 went out at 90K. Mine stock ones were almost twice that! Make mine Dodge! Keep 'em Cummins,:hyper:Dave
  18. I first thought it was my 1-2 shift but mine is the same as yours as far as the slipping goes! YIKES!!!!!
  19. I don't know, I haven't done a WOT!The tech at the Chrysler garage said last year that I have a weak TQ, so I don't push my luck!I changed my fluid & filter in my trans & now it sometimes slips between 2&3. With hay season soon to be here & a Canada vacation, easy does it for me for now. Someone is going to do a 47 rebuild & post it all, that will help me big time!Dave
  20. Maybe air in the line going to your gauge. I have my gauge on one of the ports coming off my 98 stock cannister, will I be able to tell when my filter needs changed w this configuration? Also morning pressure was a tick under 15 @ 55 but on the way back was a tick over 15 @ 70, why the variation? Dave
