Hydroboost leak
The smaller seal kit turned up today, from ebay.com part number PB-E005 MIUSA printed on a sticker on the bag so I now have one kit with everything in it and one kit with just 5 seals so I can make a decision on which kit I need to use when I get round to doing it I ended up paying maybe 8 to 10 times more for the 2 kits than buying the 2 kits from here BUT all kits here in the UK are from ****a so cost doesn't come in to it one bit. And seeing as it's for the Ram which is my business truck the tax man is paying anyway

They do work but it takes a good amount of dust to trip one, on road I doubt one filter through the entire life of the truck would trip it, dusty conditions yes but filter more than likely changed before it trips anyway. The newer electrical sensors work but probably too well and some can be a right pain

Hydroboost leak
I suppose atf is just assumed, thats what I did, thing is as I said my 3500 has had it in the P/S for years now with no leaks, but it's been parked for maybe 4 yrs, I guess it will leak from everywhere when I get around to working on it. The Pirate Jack 501 kit turned up today, full kit, seals and components properly made, instructions worded correctly without the usual mistakes .... definetly MIUSA, I'm going to wait until the other kit which is just seals arrives before I do the job this way I can choose which kit I need to use

Quadzilla setup
I have the same gears and tyres and stock injectors that are done /worn out and auto and quad, I tow a box trailer workshop most of the time and truck/trailer total is maybe 10k to 13k lb depending on what fluids I'm carrying For our speed limits here in the UK it is perfect, flat highway around 1400rpm at 55 ish no smoke and EGT's less than 900 in od locked, once I see much over 900 I drop it out of od I use a tune I found on here for towing and haven't messed with it, I will say one thing though.... I do not drive fast as every tool I own is in the trailer plus some And for anyone thinking 1400rpm at 55 is lugging it don't forget I pay £1.29 PLUS per litre, truck pulls like a freight train

Hydroboost leak
Thing is my 3500 which is 98 too has been on ATF for years now....... before I knew better..... no leaks but thats a V8 so only pump also not sure if my 2500 was on ATF before I got it. I guess the convert wouldn't be too bad a cost over there but then again why would you do it over there as P/S fluid is easily found, conundrum is here fluid is scarce but you couldn't convert due to import costs. I put a steering box on my 3500 maybe 10 years ago when I was importing parts so it was in one of my regular shipments anyway which was usually a large crate flown in several times a week or so and that was £300 then, I might have to pull it off and try it on my 2500 to see if the wander gets any better

I've seen Valvoline engine oil but never seen this P/S oil, I checked first at my go to family run parts shop... been in the same place for years, it was there when I was 16 and that's 43 yrs ago and the place looked old then, they couldn't get it from anywhere. No doubt if I'd have called a American parts supplier in this country I would have found it sooner but the markup these pirates charge is just plain robbery and I refuse to use them I just checked the number and none listed anywhere here

Hydroboost leak
Mines leaking because I used ATF 4 like a dumbass, changed the pump a few months ago cos that was leaking too. Any idea how difficult it is to find the correct P/S fluid here ? One company here does the stuff, more than likely listed as an oil for a horses saddle, just not used here and no way of a cross reference so atf it got And as for changing fluids I send samples off to the Cat oil lab and change when they say so, obviously not engine oil but I still sample it all good, just got to add more friction mod to the rear as thats grabbing big time

I had a 1983 110 2.5 diesel, maybe 25 years ago or more, coil springs all round, I threw out the 2.5 landrover engine and fitted a Ford Transit 2.5 diesel, had the CAV injection pump sorted out for more power, 35" BFG muds, 3" lift all round made be me, snorkel right up to the roof. I did offroad competitions, trials, time trials etc with it for 15 years and never once did I not drive it home, grenaded a front diff just the once climbing a 100ft bank in a disused sand quarry at a competition but drove home on the rear axle only. 8 of us put some trails into a forest on a hillside near Birmingham for an offroad driving centre used the winch and chainsaw for 2 weekends solid, slid sideways down a steep bank into a tree and a branch came straight through the drivers door and into the seat box just below my ~ss Used it to take aid to Belarussia twice for the kids born with all manner of deformities by the fallout of Chernobyl AND vodka that would blind goliath..... parents just pickled in it and then have kids..... which meant a whole pile of DNA numbers just never made it to the kids, 1500 mile there 1500 back all up weight of 6000kg, maybe 13klb towing a large trailer, 2nd time I took a trailer with x ray machines on it donated by a local hospital and the landrover full of food and other stuff we just take for granted. I watched a 97 year old Belarussian woman chop wood, I was in my early 30's at the time and I'm 6'2" and worked on heavy plant all my working life but I couldn't have swung that axe like her. If I come across any pictures I'll post em but I only ever seem to find them in the house when I'm looking for other stuff I do have a good one somewhere driving through water with water 6" up the windshield with a real good bowwave, Transit diesels of the time had an open timing belt, I changed it maybe 3 or 4 times a year to be safe 73..... leaf sprung boneshaker then On road they are pants... total garbage..... offroad they come into their own

It's warm and NOT in gear, you are measuring the load the fuel injection pump exerts on the engine not the tork and trans so in neutral, my injectors are done.... load is all over the place and 850 idle but no trans mods so with a quad I ain't putting injectors in it yet, I reckon if I stomped it on my daily tune on max some of my trans would be stuck to the soles of my boots with holes in the floor how nice it is to have cream crackered injectors Runs good no smoke...... they good

Here is an early 110, all windows are sliding, if you look at the front side windows you'll see the back sliding peice, changed after about 1987 or 88 but was like that for 40 years plus https://swva.co.uk/classic-car/land-rover-defender-110-1984/ https://www.landrovercentre.com/product/910xug/ Apparently Big huge market for the things in the USA, funnily enough I was talking to a guy today here that exports them to the USA, he has a contact in the USA and she takes whatever he can send, he goes through them and they look brand new when he's done, mainly Defenders though not the early 90's/110's which is what the link is

It's an American import, Dodge didn't do a RHD certainly not here, think they may have done some recently but not sure. I prefer Left now even when driving on the right and I really don't drive anything other than my ram. I guess right hand drive 90/110 landrovers would be the worst over there as for one you don't sit inline with the steering wheel, two the side windows are minute and even worse on the early ones which had sliding windows and only half slid anyway like looking out of the slit in a castle wall

Thats where I got the full kit from That's game over when that happens

LOL, one thing, it doesn't go onto vehicle lifts as it's too heavy and too wide and too long, it's class 7 MOT which is over 3.5 metric tonne as a gvw, really it should have a tacho if the letter of the law was observed but it's a grey area so no one bothers Our semi trucks are at 44 metric tonne gross which is around 100klb is it not, then the heavy haulage stuff which is whatever fits on the road As far as I know and I've been a trained HGV (Semi) and Mobile Plant mechanic for 42 years now, no shop here does anything other than toe as it's not adjustable, there is no caster adjustment on anything I've owned and up until my 3500 I'd never seen the adjustable cams. Landrover 90/110 and the classic Range Rover have the same front suspension really, they do have 1 radius arm (control arm) but it wraps 1/2 way around the axle with 2 bushes per side so the same as 2, it is a lot longer than a ram radius arm so gives better axle articulation, I've owned a 110 and a 90 both with 35" BFG muds the 110 with a 3 inch lift and never had to think about caster, no adjustment anyway from the factory. I've never seen caster adjustment on a semi here either but thats not to say there is none i've just never seen it and it would be wedges under springs is my guess.

Me too but on the upside I've now got 2 kits on the way each from a different supplier, one kit is 5 seals which covers the 2 main seals and the 8 shaped seal and the other is a full kit with everything..... both MIUSA Over £100 to my door for both but that includes shipping and Vat, luckily the total comes under the limit for import duty but I'd rather pay £100 plus than ............. It bugs me big time certainly with ebag how stuff is listed from the other side of the planet but with an address that bears no resemblance to where it's coming from

No I meant alignment specs for people as most aren't aligned with me or maybe I'm not aligned with them who knows LOL Joking aside Aligment shops don't exist here other than toe in/out and they won't touch the ram for that even, had to buy my own old Dunlop tracking gauges

Hydroboost leak
So yesterday I'm underneath the truck checking lower control arms and notice the hydroboost is leaking so onto R/A and no seal kits just unit for a "I don't think so price". Onto ebag and here in the UK there are maybe 20 listed with the 3 seals all saying "exact copy" and "3 weeks delivery" and seller in London...... yeah right.... doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out where they all are from. On ebag.com thinking I'm bound to find a seal kit made either here or the USA or anywhere other than ...... Found one ebag listing proudly saying made in the USA but he doesn't ship outside of the USA....... haven't these people heard of the GSP ebag runs, move on found another saying "made in the USA" and does ship to the UK and it's the full "KIT 501" which is everything, so I send a message to clarify it is actually made where he says it is. The sellers address was USA, I messaged...... Could you clarify that this kit is made in the USA as per your listing as I refuse to buy anything made in china due to quality and copyright Woke up this morning to a message " this no work for you" All I want is a Hydroboost seal kit preferably the full kit that is the correct kit with the correct parts MADE correctly as once I get it stripped it has to be done not 1/2 done waiting for something else that was in the kit but made by a 2 year old, this comes from my last seal kit purchased for the vac pump, one lip seal looked like it had been made in a lathe using a shovel to form the lip, ended up reusing the original which guess what leaks...... Where do I get a proper hydroboost seal kit from ??? Just done some more digging on ebag and real address is china, funny really as had a huge amount listed yesterday, 1 item today Just bought a 5 seal kit..... made in the USA company in Calif

I had a bit of time yesterday waiting for Oxy/Acetylene flashback arrestors which never arrived so took a look at the lower control arm cams, got both to rotate although pass side is quite tight, They are both slim to the back which is where I set them the other week, they were middling before but not the same, one was a little more and I can't remember which, I read somewhere that one should be different, if this is for road camber then that's no use to me and it needs to be opposite, Still not rechecked the toe

Better still when all this Covid stuff is done jump on a plane and bring yours, but you'd have to be pretty sneaky to use one on Hadrians Wall, Winter time would do it when no one about. The wall is fasinating, built by Romans to keep Scots out but then after hundreds of years actually used as a border control for trade I have been looking at one of these https://apsv.co.uk/product/daf-45-150-4x4-ex-mod-trucks/ but I think the back flatbed is too high for my 5th, Cummins 5.9 TD pre 24v, 5 speed manual full time 4x4, weighs 6000kg and can carry 5000kg. 1/2 the price of what I could get for my Ram, If I didn't have a 5th and a mobile workshop for work I would sell my truck as here a breakdown would stop me working for maybe weeks .... say vp or ecm or worse a trans
