  1. Like I said, I don't really drive it in the winter as it's an Arizona truck and is rust free. I usually get it out once a month or so to run it a little, but only if the roads are clear and dry. Then I get the hose out and spray it down good. Just figured if I got lucky and someone had a dead box I could get the faceplate off it. I'll be ordering a quad probably around March and start swapping.
  2. Ya, a quad is in the near future, but right now it's single digit cold out so removing all the edge stuff and installing all the quad stuff isn't going to happen until it's warm. I don't drive the truck much in winter so it's the perfect time to try and fix this box. If not, it's not the end of the world. Box is stuck on 1x1 and works so I can still drive the truck, it's just that the fun settings are unobtainable.
  3. Does anyone here have or know of an edge comp box that is either damaged or for sale cheap? I need the faceplate with the power and adjuster buttons. My box works but the contact coating on the increase button has flaked off. I tried a product called CaiKote 44 which is a conductive coating for the membrane switch, but getting everything apart and cleaned up has taken the "pop" out of the button. If that makes sense. There are only four solder connections to remove and replace the faceplate so if I can find one that would simplify this repair.
  4. It always fascinates me when someone is able to figure out and build something like this, and it actually works. Well done 👍👍👍
  5. This is why I like this place. I don't feel so alone in my life progression......or recession......or whatever the heck is happening.
  6. His 2nd gen is acting up and he can't diagnose it......so he drops off probably the most knowledgeable 2nd gen site on the web, of which he has been an integral part........ I'm more than confused.
  7. I don't know how businesses keep the doors open nowadays. Can't find anyone to work and the ones that grace your business with their presence have one thing on their mind......$15/hr minimum with zero interest in doing a good job or actually learning their job. Heaven forbid if they're not allowed to bury their heads in their phones during business hours.
  8. I love a company that pays attention. Well done.
  9. Happy New Year everyone.
  10. I'd use a Dremel to remove rather than pulling the yoke.
  11. Man that sucks. I know I wouldn't think about unplugging the quad if I needed to jump my truck. I definitely wouldn't think about it with a trickle charger. I'll have to remember to tape reminders to each battery when I pull the trigger on one. Hopefully you can get some kind of help. Good luck.
  12. Oh I definitely get it. My best way to get the most time, notice I didn't say milage, from a tank was to drive less. If you increase your milage +1 from normal, your only getting 15, 20, 30 miles more per tankful depending on how much fuel it takes to fill back up. Not a big game changer to me. It's like some of my friends that drive 10 miles away to save 5¢ a gallon. If they buy 20 gallons, they saved $1. Even if their car gets 20 mpg, it cost them over $3 to save $1. I'm all for better milage, but there is a limit to the time and effort I'm willing to invest to maximize my mpg. I don't fault anyone who is more willing to extract every bit of milage from their vehicle than I am, to each their own. That said, I will keep my vehicles maintained the best I can so they get the best mileage for how I drive and also last as long as possible. I generally keep a vehicle until it's ready for the boneyard.....
  13. Sounds like a great idea if you can make it happen. Could be a wonderful experience.
  14. You ain't missing anything.... 😂😂😂
  15. Let me know if you come to fox lake again. I'll stop and say hi.
  16. Ingleside is an unincorporated town right next to fox lake. What do you do up here?
  17. I think all those little hoses are the same size. Take one off and take it to Napa and have them find a heater hose same size with a molded in 90, then just cut it up to the lengths you need.
  18. Merry Christmas to you and everyone here. Best wishes for a great New Year....
  19. I'm in N.E. Illinois. No rv, but if anyone comes to Wisconsin to camp, let me know, I'll bring the beer....
  20. I agree with everything you posted. Most of it falls under basic maintenance, which can get away from you without even realizing it. I own two duallies. My '02 Dodge and my FILs '04 Ford. Last thing I worry about is milage. I check it every fill up, but that's just to watch for any big changes to catch a problem. Every vehicle I've owned, from Geo Metros to these duallies and everything in between, I just drive and the milage I get is the milage I get. That's just me......
  21. I retired 3 years ago and I love it. If I knew it was this good, I'd have done it right outta high skool..... 😂😂😂😂
  22. It would make me sad to lose my shut down chirp. I love it.
