  1. I am the second owner, and i got it bone stock, maybe they had them adjusted, and yes they were all exactly the same no odd balls. Thanks guys.
  2. Well that's not very comforting
  3. Ok thanks i wouldnt think they would tighten up either, just was expecting loose. Thats great then. Thanks for the response.
  4. Just a quick question guys, can the valves be too tight, or tighten up over time?.I went to chck my lash and went through in order, didnt find any loose, but all were on the tight side, the feeler gauge barely fit. I expected to find loose ones after 170k.Thanks for any input.
  5. I just had my trans built with a triple and a so called cheap shift kit that wasnt cheap, i got a transgo tfod diesel, and yes it does change line pressure in all gears. An aftermarket valve body is similar, because there are no moving parts inside, you change the plate, and make new holes just like the aftermarket valve bodies.with my stock trans it would shift 1-2 before 15mph, now if i have a load or a light foot empty its 1500rpm before shift, and the shifts are firmer too, and lock up is amazing throws you back in the seat. There are some cheap kits, but to do the tfod correctly you must use the included sealing rings for the pump, thats why i waited for tear down. You get new manual rod as well that keeps fluid flowing in park. - - - Updated - - - That is also why most of the so called name brand VB for sale need you to send your core in. I know BD does for sure, so they can take it apart and modify it which is basically shift kitting it, and putting their name plate on it. Otherwise they wouldnt need your core.
  6. The best way to tell if the clutch is bad is if it spins freely when cold. Also if you hear it engage and disengage it is working properly. I replaced mine with a severe duty, and it is a bit loud, but what i have noticed is when cold in the morning on start up, it stays locked and loud till i reach operating temp, then i can hear it disengage. I think that is strange, i thought it would not engage until heat was on it. I was told that it requires some heat to disengage, the it will engage again when hit with excessive heat. Keeps me right at 190 all summer long towing or not.
  7. [*] Level 0: Stock Level 1: 40 Horsepower - 150 Foot Pounds of Torque Level 2: 60 Horsepower - 200 Foot Pounds of Torque Level 3: 80 Horsepower - 250 Foot Pounds of Torque Level 4: 100 Horsepower - 300 Foot Pounds of Torque Level 5: 120 Horsepower - 350 Foot Pounds of Torque each of those levels have a sub level with 5 settings, and those control how much low boost fuel. check out edge website, they have a full write up
  8. I would love to, but if i ever wanted to put stock back for smog, i would not have any hose, but yours looks good. I also purchased a tank stainless, with a breather on top, i will see if that works as well when it arrives.
  9. Nope he said he didn't use it cause it could collapse, but i found some 3/4 inch fuel line on ebay, and i may also check with car quest and see if they have it too.
  10. Yes you need a way to keep it locked on decel, cause stock unlocks converter when coasting, which would take away the effect of the exhaust brake.
  11. Mike i have been freaking out since i got back from my trip about blow by coming out of the tube with your mod. I just watched your video, and i just caught my breath, i have that exact amount coming out underneath like your video shows. So its normal? Thanks Mike http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6HB3yIoWPLY
  12. Say if mike is not using rubber hose on his, how is he connecting to the breather. I would like to know cause im using heater hose, and dont want it to fail.
  13. Idk exactly, but even with torque management i get more than 9psi when taking off in first.
  14. Should i be concerned-when i checked mint at 170k which was about a month or so ago, they were in spec, they didnt need adjusting. Should the valves been a lil loose with that many miles, or am i over concerned about nothing.
  15. Bars leaks contains sod silicate, problem with using it, is it does not mix well with anti freeze hence the flushing with water. If used correctly im sure it will work till you get the cash to fix it. I understand where you are coming from, i dont have the money to do that either, it would get sold or sit and collect dust. I think you need a engine hoist to remove the head, and a bunch of cash to pay machine shop. no fun.
  16. Good to know, i thought all was good, i used valv 75-140 synthetic, afor limited slip, no issues yet, but i will get the additive from oriellys.
  17. Ok thanks alot mike, so maybe it was my lucky day, no leaks whew.
  18. I like mine, i tow with a comp too, a 30 ft. 5er, but i will say i watched the wrong videos cause i dropped in my injectors, lined them up with the hold down and tightened them then the tubes and lines, fingers crossed been a month. I can see putting the tubes in first before locking down the injector if the injector could spin in its bore, but you can barely move them once they are in to line them up with the hold down, seem the hold down shoul have it alighned, i thought thats what the slot was for. maybe i should see if my oil is rising in the pan, is there any way else to tell, i dont smell fuel. - - - Updated - - - Also how did you guys no of a leak, was the leak external?
  19. Doesn't the tst have several settings also? Just was inquiring, because i still have my edge ez, and i have heard that the tst and ez is a great combo.
  20. Im hearing from others we shouldnt use this feature unless we have a input shaft and a valvebody that can take it, but if i am wrong, i will be glad to be wrong. I had one on my 97 crew cab powerstroke, worked like a champ, but diesel power mag says on the doge we can shatter stuff by locking it. But to me if you only lock it in third or fourth it should be fine. I would want one to be able to keep it locked when on a downhill, in stock form it unlocks when foot is removed from pedal, that builds trans heat coasting like that. Let me know, i already bought the switch, but backed out of it when i saw the article, and some threads in the cummins forum. I am ready.
  21. If you are really looking for fueling, then i have read the TST comp is much stronger, i have the edge comp, and do not think it is close to 120 extra hp on level 5. It pulls hard, but most people run it maxed out, so that means we want more. I am looking for something that will make me say "wow i gotta turn that down " you know what i mean. I switched out my turbo from a hy to a hx, and that did make it come to life quite a bit, smoke down low if you lug it, but its a pretty clean box. Just depends on what you are looking for i guess.
  22. True, i bought new bosch, no worries about how they will work.
  23. Yes RV275 and comp on 5x5 and towing 10k 5er, never went over 1k on egt, and cruising was around 900 at 65mph.
  24. You must remove the engine lift ring, then you can use a open end to break the lines loose, then i used a stubby wrench to finish removing them. i also take the 2 wire bulk heads off their hangers and move them aside. My first time took 2 hours, and that's with a couple back rest breaks. Also loosen the blue hold downs on the lines, and that makes moving the lines easier.
  25. Just found my Wix filter on amazon, 1/2 price of ebay ordered 2, so im good for awile.
