  1. That's cool... Thank you.
  2. Thanks for explaining this.A 30 micron pre L/P, 60 gallon per hour filter would need to be clogged a lot to cause that then Right? Sure wish I could figure what set off the 0216 code.I got a big honkin' tank vent and Vulcan big lines all the way with filters changed often.
  3. My 0216 code went away. I drove 3 long trips this way against all the advice from Source automotive and others, most said I will leave me by the roadside. I am pleased the code went away, but wish I could explain why:think:. I understand that the code will come up if fuel pressures are not consistant. Mopar Mike, can explain you what the ECM or the PCM actually monitors besides the VP44 timing to send off a 0216? I've been trying to understand since my code went away.... but.... my fuel pressures have been usually consistent, well into the 18's dropping to 15 hauling heavy uphills at 3/4 throttle. That's the worse it has ever done anyway. JT, if We could figure why my 216 went away might be something to try anyhow. Does the 0216 code come up if the Lift pump voltage is out of range? That's another scenario, too I guess.
  4. This is a great idea... the sump with a draw straw:). Thank you. Maybe figure out a way to shield the small sump somehow
  5. Thanks I appreciate the request for info. My fuel return dumps down the filler neck and my drawstraw is in the fuel module with the screens cut out. Been that way 5-6 years without a problem. Even while pulling long grades with a heavy load, it's never been a problem until recent. The 'hoot' sound is like a strange lift pump squeak or maybe in some way an air leak. Actually sort of like a regulator that can't find proper adjustment. All guess work at this point. I think I need to get under the LP when the tank is low and listen for the sound. I pulled the regulator and spring and found no dirt due to the pre-filter.If I get on it hard it will do it and when making sharp turns but very sporadically. At first I thought it was the power steering pump going out. (sounds kinda like that), but, then watching the FP gauge I saw the pressures drop radically when the sound occurs. I probably need to pressurize the tank and look for leaks, but an air leak woudn't sound like this whoot sound. It weird:shrug:
  6. When I'm at about a half tank of fuel my fuel tank lines or Raptor lift pump hoots at me. I hear it more when running uphill or slosh the tank on rough grades. When this sound occurs I can watch my fuel pressure drop suddenly too.I think it is the DS sloshing around and loosing its seal and suck air. Not sure about this but it stops when the tank is full.I was thinking about a billet tank sump so the L/P is somewhat gravity fed. However, DOT has a rule that a tank sump is illegal incase of a fires in a wreck.Anyone know about this? I understand my insurance could decline coverage if they found out.
  7. Speaking largely for all of us around here, I'm sure are all We are sorry to hear about this. What happened?Tell him to get his computer fixed so we can hear from him.
  8. Haven't seen a post from you since the end of November I always thought you are kind of a key man around these parts
  9. If moot.... then how do you explain the major improvement that Mopar Mike and I both saw after changing over to big lines? Both improvements were dead on the same using the stock pump. I can answer that........ just look at the size of the banjo bolts..... them things belong in the scrap heap.
  10. Second time running up to Vulcan we put on the draw straw and I gained about 1 psi but lost the 1 psi when I put on the 30 micron pre-filter.
  11. 1/2'' lines allows you more latitude to put on a pre-filter which all diesel engines benefit from.Cooler running lift pump too. And Mopar Mike, your numbers are dead nuts on with what my truck did with the stock pump going to half inch lines.Except I was zero pressure drop. I was a steady 14 all the time for some unknown reason.
  12. I got one sittin' on the shelf, 5 mos. now:doh:. Including a 4 inch ABS coupling, (fits right in there). Just lazy as heck on the weekends. Thanks for the zip tie idea. I have some of those honkers:)
  13. My turbo fins are a bit dirtier than yours. I think all plastics tend to distort with heat or age. For a temporary fix I thought about using some small wood clamps to squeeze the top down tighter against the gasket. Bad deal though if the clamps don't stay, fall off and damage a rocker panel or a neighboring car.
  14. A clogged tank vent will cause suction, not try to blow the cap into your hand when you open it. Can you tell if it's vacuum or if it's pressure build up?
  15. You are a stones throw from me. You are lucky because like me, you live close to Source Automotive (Clackamas) or Vulcan Performance in Vancouver Washington. I've been to both of these places many times and always glad I did Business with them.
  16. Clogged tank vent? Almost is a common problem. Read my sig below.
  17. One possible problem with the stock air box is it starts to distort over time and does not completely seal out dirty air. I think it's coming from the front side of the air box because it looks like it doesn't compress down enough to the stock filter gasket. That is on the front plastic hook side not the metal clips.I say this because the fins on my turbo are just starting to show some fine dust and dirt.Could this be true?
  18. Can you get me a set of those horns for the front of my truck? I want the bigger ones. How much is shipping?
  19. I do the same thing also. I have 4 of the oem pumps. Two are still useable since I bought one a guy didn't want. I got it for a good deal. Sure is good to have a forum to let others know what's going on with these trucks. I was reading on the Ford forum about guys with a Raptor pump putting bigger supply wires on and it runs a bit cooler. They are thinking it helps it to last longer that way and they notice that it runs stronger. One guy opens up the top of the electric motor and increases the wire size inside the top cause they are very small wires. He says he sees a difference there also. - - - Updated - - - Another guy with some inconsistent pressure problems on a newer R100 removed the outer 3/4 inch regulator bolt, removed the springs and washers and found some ground up plastic chips in the regulator from the factory. After cleaning those out he has very even pressures again. On a second read that I found, a guy with two jammed up pumps opened up the gearator pump (Gear type pump). Spinning the gears by hand he found they would jam up on both pumps that were defective. He said that he took some emery cloth to all the gears and smoothed them out, put them back together and found both pumps to be operating very smoothly afterward. A third guy had called Pureflow about his symptoms and they sent him a Vitro ball to replace the regulator washer. I think that's right! Anyhow he put in the little rubber ball they sent and now his pump works perfectly.
  20. Looking forward to seeing some pics. A close up too would be nice to see what the surface looks like:popcorn:
  21. Well, I had to fill up before I brought it to Source Automotive, but, it stopped squeaking soon as I put the fuel in. Now Source says the pump is fine. Then it starts squeaking on the way home again but not as much as before. I'll have to catch Source when the thing is running 10 psi and squeaking almost constantly again.Anyhow I wish Pureflow was a straight company... I'd hate to have to change the pump on the highway.Anyone know what to look for to identify one of the older pumps that are the good ones?
  22. I filed my warranty..... sent it to them, but, they couldn't find it.
  23. Thanks dennhop..... yep, when I asked for my money back I didn't have an angry tone or anything..... It was like pullin' teeth though to get them to speak clearly on the phone.Source Automotive is taking care of it because I bought the pump from them. No problem ever with hearing what these guys say on the phone.
  24. Yep it is..... Raptor 100 w/ pressure adjustment. I even left a message to another person down there telling them about the rudeness. Left my cell and they did not call today. Why can't they just build the good pump with the good parts? Such bean counters? they are learning more what it is to throw away a business? As it is..... this is what I think of your pump:badidea:
  25. Update; Good Ole' Source automotive is going to straighten this out for me. Them guys are straight shooters down there
