  1. My truck is a 4x4 and I honestly dont know if they are the same but Ive always used 1 5/8 socket and never had any issues.
  2. Ive also found that sw5 is the best setting for mileage. For me, i get even better mileage on sw5 than the "fuel saver" setting and it still makes decent power for towing. Its the best of both worlds.
  3. Do you leave your windows open during the day? We have central air as it is very humid during the summer months but last week the control board in the furnace went south, leaving us "stranded" during the hottest week of the year. In the meantime, we have been keeping the house buttoned up tight during the hottest part of the day until the evening hours when its cool enough to open the windows up for some fresh air. Its been between 96 and 98* everyday so far with a heat index of 102 to 104 and the hottest our house has been is 84*. Im gonna hug my ac man when he shows up with my board.
  4. Measure once, cut twice- no wait hows that saying go?!?
  5. We have 3 smaller versions of your one big cooling tower. I work at a titanium tetrichloride plant and we use them to cool our 3 chlorinators. Chlorinators are like big upright furnaces so to speak. They inject coke ( like fine coal) and titanium ore along with mass amounts of oxygen. Once the temps get up tp about 1800*F they start injecting liquid chlorine and titanium tetrichloride vapors begin forming towards the top of the chlorinator. The vapors are blown out the top through 30" offgas piping and sent to condensation and eventually purification to be converted into a liquid. This liquid is the base for all titanium metals, among other things. ISX, it is VERY tempting to jump in the bottom of those towers on a hot day! Ive thought many times of doing it myself!
  6. I think it comes down to personal preferance. It may cost more to build a solid auto, but by the time you spend the money on a swap and a good clutch the difference may be marginal. Personally, Ive got a good auto built for towing and I love it. A standard will get a little better mileage running around town, but running down the road I dont think theres much difference, especially once the auto locks up. The only thing I plan on doing to mine is an eb when I can afford it.Other than that, Im really happy with it.
  7. Level 4 utulizes stock timing as do all the even numbers. You will do better to stick with the odd numbers when experimenting with settings. There should be a brief explanation of the settings on the back of your programmer(at least mine did).
  8. When i had my trans rebuilt i took my cooler off at the advice of my tranny guy to flush it out and to remove the check in the line. He has seen the checks plug up and restrict flow. Since their only purpose is to keep the fluid from draining out of the cooler and back into the pan when the truck is off, he said I was better off leaving it out. When I pulled the cooler out, the only thing i remember removing was the intake elbow (for better visibility). Its a bit of a pain working around the turbo but I didnt want to mess around taking it off. Youll have to remove the two coolant lines ( youll lose a decent amt of coolant so be ready to catch it or drain some out before you pop em loose) from the top side, and the two trans lines from underneath. If i remember correctly theres only two bolts holding the cooler in place. While your underneath removing the trans lines take a good look at it you should at least be able to see the bolts from down there.
  9. Have you tried your local dealer? Hopefully the old one didnt wind up in the drink (oil pan)
  10. Count your blessings dodge wisened up and went to slip on rotors. On my 1998.5 they are pressed onto the hub I have to press the wheel studs out in order to change rotors or wheel bearings
