Nv4500 4th gear noise
Did you have the noise before the rebuild? Does it make noise in any other gear or while in neutral? Is the damper issue separate from the transmission issue?

..feels like I'm getting kicked in kisser
Speaking of this list, I would like to see where the regular old Howes would be on the list. That Howes meaner kleaner that is listed is really more of a fuel system cleaner than an antigel. They also have a regular antigel additive as well.

x2 on the Howes. There are a lot of people that use the power service stuff but I have never had good luck with them. The Howes has worked perfectly every time I had to use it.

DTT Assassin not pumping!
I agree with you there JAG. I always had my heart set on going mechanical someday but this whole situation has kind of turned me off of the idea. When my brother got this truck I was the one that told him to go mechanical because it was still on a stock LP. After all the troubles I just don't know if it is worth it. I am sure a good quality electric pump will be just fine. On that note, has anyone heard if the Fuelab pumps are all they are cracked up to be? I know they are spendy but if it works.....

Suspension Upgrades
Well you got me there. My truck doesn't see much off road apart from forest service roads and some logging roads. I have gotten pretty crazy in some big holes but not really ever had a tire lift. The tires do rub a little on the control arms at full lock but have never contacted the body anywhere. The spacers came on the truck when I bought it so I don't know what the difference before and after was like. I have never broken any suspension parts on this truck in the 65k miles that I have had it. The track bar was worn out so the previous owner had replaced it with a stock one. Other than that, never had any issues. I am sure with some small wheel spacers I could solve the issue of rubbing on the control arms easy enough.

Suspension Upgrades
I am also running 35's on my truck with stock height in the rear and 2.5in spacers up front. Honestly I wouldnt want it any higher than it is already. I know a lot of people say that the spacers change the geometry to much but I havent had any of the problems like a lot of the other guys have had. 240k and the entire front end is stock apart from the spacers and an the track bar was replaced about 60k ago with a stock replacement. Still runs straight and true for the most part. The steering box is getting some slop in it but that is to be expected with this many miles on it.

Rough idle then dies
When I did my Timbo, it came with instructions on how to set the voltage by back probing the signal wire. I think I still have the instruction sheet it came with. I can post up the specs if you want.

DTT Assassin not pumping!
Sorry for not getting back sooner guys. Been crazy with the holidays and what not. They did get the pump working correctly after all. I gave them the idea of putting some fuel down the downstream side of the pump and leaving the hose off the VP. They had fuel coming out in less than a couple seconds of spinning the pump with a drill. Got it all hooked back up and everything is running well! They just need to hook the fuel pressure gauge back up to see where its at but other than that everything is working how it should. On the contrary, they have a serious leak from the front of the oil pan now. They had torqued the pan bolts back up to 10 ft lbs orginally. The pump bracket kept coming loose at 10 ft lbs so of course just like any good little brother, he just wrenched down the bolts tighter HAHA! I think this might have caused the pan gasket to crack/split because he is getting oil everywhere now. The truck has just over 200k on the clock and I would bet that gasket is the original. Probably needed to be changed anyway.

DTT Assassin not pumping!
It does have the return line that connects to the pressure regulator after the pump. They did try to pressure up the tank and they couldn't even get air to come through the assassin. They put the project on hold for the time being just until either I or someone else can assist and get it finished up.

DTT Assassin not pumping!
Well I asked them about that and they said they had cleaned everything out real good. When they couldn't get any fuel to move with the pump they ended up just sucking on the line manually to see if they could get fuel and it came rushing out real quick. Since that happened I am thinking there isn't a restriction in the line. I am going to have them try putting some fuel/oil straight into the pump to see if that gets things moving. Thanks again for everyones help on this!

DTT Assassin not pumping!
I thought about that too. The drill they are using is rated for upwards of 3800 rpm's so I would think they had enough juice to get it going.

Thanks so much for the quick replies gentlemen. I will hand this info over to them and see what happens.

VP44 advice needed
Just another thought, have you tried changing the fuel filters? The pressure drop seems kind of odd but then again raptors are known for major pressure problems. As for the FASS, that is really the only good name in diesel aftermarket electric lift pumps. They make a great product and from what I heard have excellent customer service. There are a few other brands out there that seem to make a decent pump as well (BD, Fuelab, etc.) but as far as I am concerned FASS is the only one that had proven itself. You may also want to look into switching over to a mechanical lift pump. DTT Assassin and the Fuel Boss are the 2 major players in the mechanical world.

Rough idle then dies
Sounds like there is still a APPS issue. Like Alex said earlier, double check what the voltage signal is and make sure it is correct. There should have been instructions with your new APPS to set the voltage correctly. You might also try the reset procedure and see if it makes much of a difference. What is your fuel pressure both at idle and WOT? Just trying to help rule some other things out.

DTT Assassin not pumping!
Hello ladies and gents!! Hope everyone is ready for Christmas and New years and everything is going well for everyone. Now, on to the problem. My brother has recently purchased a very clean 2002 Ram 2500 CTD. It is a five speed and completely bone stock from bumper to bumper. He is going through the motions of basic bullet-proofing (Gauges, Lift Pump, Etc.) I talked him into getting an Assassin mechanical lift pump because that is what I will probably end up getting if and when my Raptor gives up. He also went with the beans diesel sump at my suggestion versus the draw straw. My father and brother are working at installing the entire system this weekend and just got it all buttoned up. One slight problem... they cant get the lift pump to move any fuel!! They had assembled the entire fuel system but left the line off that goes into the VP. They were going to prime the fuel system then hook that line to the VP very last. To prime the lines they just put an electric drill on the lift pump shaft and used that to turn the pump. They never could get fuel to the VP. Not even air!! So they pulled the lines off of the Assassin and sucked on the fuel line coming from the tank. They had fuel in less than 30 seconds just from manually sucking on the fuel line. Hooked it all back up, and still wont pump any fuel. They have triple checked that they are in fact driving the pump the correct way, and even tried turning it the other way with no luck. I have never heard of anyone having such an issue with the Assassin. It is such a simple design I just cant figure out what could be wrong with it. Anyone have any kind of a clue as to what they could try next?? They are in central WA state working on this and I am in western MT state so I am trying to help them over the phone. Thanks a bunch as always!!

My new Isuzu Diesel!
This only solidifies that commas do matter!! 18ft long, wide-body cube box. I could only imagine the permits I would have to get with something that wide!!

My new Isuzu Diesel!
I should have specified. It is an 18ft wide body cube box. Complete with lift gate and side door to get up inside easily.

My new Isuzu Diesel!
Thanks for the thoughts gents! Here is the break down of the truck as far as I know. Isuzu 5.2 liter intercooled turbo diesel Inline 4 cylinder Aisin 6 speed auto with dual OD and lock up in 2-6 18k Gross vehicle weight rated 18ft wide body box Yes EGR No DEF Yes DPF Regular cab with power windows/locks and cruise/AC All in all a pretty decent truck. I average about 10 mpg's with it. It's got about 125000 miles on it now.

My new Isuzu Diesel!
Hello everyone. I recently took a step up into an outside sales position in the company I work for. My work truck is a 2010 Isuzu NPR diesel truck. It does have the bigger 5.2 liter motor and it runs pretty good. I have the opportunity to purchase some things for it to "fit my needs better" according to my company. My question is, does anyone have any idea of good performance upgrades that I should do while I have the chance? Does anyone make a chip/tuner or anything for the Isuzus? Thanks for everything!

Lift pump suggestions
That is quite impressive for a lift pump. I don't know if I have seen an electric lift pump last that long on a diesel.

engine runaway! not good
If you had changed turbos and there wasn't a change in the oil consumption, I would think that the turbo is probably ok. Real easy way to check though. Just pull off the intercooler hose coming down from the turbo. If you have oil in the tube, I would be fixing the turbo. Now, with that said, I am leaning towards an APPS issue myself. If you said it kept going until you hit the throttle a couple of times seems to me like there is something sticking with the sensor or the cable. Not to mention, resetting the APPS helped your transmission shifting tells me that the APPS probably isn't working correctly anymore. A very awesome replacement APPS is made by Timbo. Very quality product and comes with great instructions. Check here: Timbo

3rd gen rims
Well I guess I learn something new everyday. I do know that around 09 they switched to the full metric bolt pattern of 8 on 170mm. I didnt realize they would still fit on the old 8 on 6.5in bolt pattern. 170mm = 6.69in Must be close enough to work I suppose.

3rd gen rims
I think the Ram wheels up to about 2009 will work. They are still a 8 on 6.5in bolt pattern. Everything newer than 2009 has gone to the metric 8 on 170mm. They wont fit on the older style trucks.

A few codes to ponder on
I usually do too but there was a small problem. I purchased this truck with about 180k on the clock. For the most part the truck had been taken care of pretty well. Things like this were unfortunately overlooked though. On another note, I got the Comp back the other day. Apparently my module was to old to fix so they just sent me back a brand new module and harness for $100. They even through in the Hot Unlock because my old comp had it. Holy cow I dont know what the difference is but this Comp seems to light the truck up way more than the old one did. Night and day difference!! I am very pleased with the service and product.

A few codes to ponder on
That would make sense. I am still running the factory battery cables on this truck and they are starting to look a bit shotty. I know I will have to replace the cable that crosses over between the batteries pretty soon. Maybe it is time to just do all the cables and call it good. 240k miles, I think it couldnt hurt to replace.
