Brand of tires?
I am looking for openions on tires. My last two sets of Michelin265/75 R16 X radial lt tires only got 42,000 miles each. I beleive the original tires were BF Goodrich T/A and they went 62,000 miles. I am looking at a set of Yokohama tires with the same rating as the Michelin for $750.00 verses Michelin at $1050.00 a set. Had good luck with Yokohama 15yrs back in fleet service(11R22.5s)

Air Dog Raptor 100 problem
I don't think it was a regulator problem. It was running intermitently. The elect moter has to be full of fuel for it to leak fuel through the hole where wires enter the motor 1/8 inch from the top.

Air Dog Raptor 100 problem
This morning verified no intake problem. Stuck intake in a clean fuel can. Pressuse was all over the place. Started at 60 on yesterdays adjustment. Cranked it back to 20 then it went back to 10. Jogged the ign to run the pump with motor off and I could hear the pump run intermitently. Not 25 seconds, only 5 seconds with guage bouncing. Fired up engine, pressure back to 20. Shut off and jog key again. Started to pump 23psi for 10 seconds then got intermitent again to about 10 psi with guage bouncing. Went to ck elect plug, found fuel coming out of wire conection on top of the elect motor, down the wire loom and into elect plug. Warranty replacement pump on the way.

Air Dog Raptor 100 problem
Installed pump on frame rail July 2. Noted that a very small turn (!/8) of the adjusting nut would increase pressure by 15 lbs. Today, I looked at my guage and it was at 10 lb idleing. Jumped under the truck to adjust relief spring and turned it 1/2 turn to get pressure back to 20 psi at idle, 23 with engine off. Now if I floor it in drive press drops to 7 psi. Drops to 15 at 5lb boost. New stock filter 2 weeks ago. Stock 3/4 ton empty. Stock draw stray and fuel lines to the raptor. Stock line to filter bypassing original pump. Oil filled mechanical guage tapped at the Vp44 inlet banjo. Worked great up to now pulling 12,000lb load. Time for warranty???

Idle issue: after injectors and Raptor 150 install... ITS BACK!
Why would they use quick connectors??? Most QDs seal on pressure. This is why I don't buy after market kits. I can usually build my own quality mods for less money.

tc lock/inlock issues
I used a Fluke E 335. $ 200.00 meter. It read 3 volts. BUT, the 335 is for testing high voltage. Borrowed a OTC meter designed for auto use and it read .16 volt ac. The cheap meter term does not always apply. This is a great test though. If you had a completely shorted diode(passes current both ways), I think it would also cause a drain on the battery. On my truck, I removed and refurbished all grounds. None looked bad so I wrapped the ground that runs next to the alternator with foil tape and repositioned it out of the loom over the alternator bracket. Problem solved. Fixed another truck since then. It definately had a loose ground lug on the right battery. Foil wrapped and moved the ground cable over the alt just in case. That problem also solved.

Additives in the 6.7 engine
I use Archoil fuel and oil addative. Calif fuel is dry and needs more lubricity. Fuel treat adds 1 mpg, that pays for it.

To flush or not to? What you guys do.
I added a drain plug and I drop 6qts every 20k and refill. Quick and easy. can be done out on the road with a small drain pan.

Why monitor boost?
I drive with my boost guage. Max boost is 100% power. At 75% boost my auto trans will shift down with a 17K load. If I am pulling a little rise, I may back out to keep the trans from downshifting as it will only up shift after the hill and that wasts fuel. They are much cheaper than a pyro and tell you more about power usage. My last old antique 1991 can only handle 60% boost for an extended time before the trans will heat.

finally something easy to fix
Changed mine about 30 miles from Ft St John Canada. Had a Ford man traveling with me. He was saying call a tow truck. Took all of 20 minutes to get it off. Love that Cummins. The Ford, you couldn't even see the water pump.

Confused about TC lock up
OK I am not a transmission mechanic. I was thinking of putting a TC lock up switch on my 2001 Dodge 47e ? trans to aid in down hill retard. Also thinking about moving an ex brake from my older dodge. Question: If the tc is in lock up, isn't it locked in all gears. Will it lock in 2nd if the speed is kept with in the 2nd gear range? 22 to 35mph? Also heard of hooking switch with a 33ohm, 1/2 watt resistor and leaving the relay in tact for near normal operation except hills. Input would really be appreciated.

Does the 2001 have a filter sock in tank?
Thanks for the quick come back. It is nice to know what is in the tank also for future troubleshooting.

Does the 2001 have a filter sock in tank?
I installed a raptor on my 2001. I know lots of people say to add a suction filter. BUT! If there is already a filter sock on the pickup in the tank, WHY! another screen. Dodge didn't have an additional filter before the Carter.

47re with pacbrake and lock up switch help!!
I have read but not tried this. Tap into the og/bk wire. Wire to a switch. from the other switch terminal install a 33ohm x 1/2 watt resistor and then to ground. Do not modify the relay. This may be what is in the pac brake box. I also would like to hear from a more knowledegable source. Would like a tc lock-up for down hills only.

lift pump ?
My carter replacement only lasted 25k. Output was 10psi and 4-5 at wot when I changed it to a raptor frame mount.

fuel pressure gauge install question.
I bought a stainless steel case, oil filled 2 inch guage with 1+- psi accuracy 0-30 guage from a hydraulic supply. 1/8 npt back port.($35.00) I mounted it on the floor just left of the center consol near the accelerator pedal. Drilled hole in floor,1/8in conn,1/8X1/4 compression 90deg elbow, 1/4in air brake quality tubeing and fitting to the vp44 inlet banjo. Lots of room under floor to work. Hi quality and quick to install. On the floor but how often do you need to ck fuel pressure.

Mopar1973Man's Crankcase Vent Modification
my2001 has 150k on it with no fouled radiator. I just extended the blow pipe down further with 3/4 in emt elect conduit. In CA any mod to pcv will not pass smog every 2 yrs. I tow 12,00lbs.

Feeling "un-handy" with a Fuel pressure gauage
I bought the raptor for $284.00 ? it is adjustable. Mounted it on frame. Cut line and moved it forward to connect the banjo that used to connect to the pump inlet is now connected to the filter inlet. Didn't buy a kit. Extended wire harness and connected to fuel lines with 3/8 flex fuel line and hose clamps. In and out holes on raptor are #12 O-ring boss. Bought those fittings and barb 3/8 at a hyd. hose supply in town. Adj to 18# idle 12# max fuel.

Fan Clutch
Hayden used to be a leader in quality fan clutches. Bought one for my old dodge in 1993 at Pep Boys with a lifetime gaurantee. Put the recipt in the box with the old clutch. About every 120,000 miles I take it back and get a new one. They put the lifetime gaurantee on it but didn't expect me to keep the truck for life.
