Many have done it without issue.  So yeah, it seems to work.  Nice thing about it is both seals are offset from the stock one so both have a fresh place to wear to the crank.

I think I could have gotten two in there. I know there was enough room on the crank to do it as long as the hole in the cover was deep enough. I had room to push it in deeper and that might have left enough room for one more.

 Took mine out for a ride today and no evidence of any leakage. Got to head back to Durham Friday and will see how it holds up. If it does not I will be the guinea pig on the stack.
