Power steering fluid leak?

I think what I thought was an oil leak may be at least partly ps fluid.  Truck parked nose down on my sloped driveway has a nice clean puddle under it, not black like normal.  Looks like ps fluid..  where to start digging?..

I would give it a wiff because power steering will smell different than engine oil. If it is leaking I would replace the pump and while your at it upgrade your steering box.

My oil is black, this fluid was yellowish like the ps fluid, I will get it in the garage tonight where it’s level ground and check the ps fluid level.

Power steering fluid for a 2002 or older Ram is Mopar MS5931 or equivalent.

  Do not use ATF+4.  Some people say it's OK but the factory manual says otherwise.

It has the correct fluid in it, seems like for it to be able to drop right straight down to the driveway that it may be the steering box leaking.

My hydro boost was leaking PS fluid and going to ground.

My drip was pretty far forward.

They like to leak from the seal between the ps and vac pump. Might check they’re.

That would be oil though, correct?  It definitely wasn't oil on the driveway yesterday.

 

I have been noticing more oil drips from my Moparman ccv mod though, anyone run a catch can on these?

Let it drip. Catch can just make a bigger mess. When it fills up and sloshes around. Never worked in the front of the engine why would it work on the back of the engine. Still a broken idea.

I don't like it all over my driveway, so hoping for a solution, I would rather drain and clean a catch can every couple months, than scrub my driveway all the time.

Better drain it weekly.

I will teach my son how to do it.  :-)  it only drips a drop here or there, but it gets my wife fired up when the driveway is a mess.  :-)

The seal on gearbox at the pitman arm is famous for leaking, You need to get under truck with engine running and have someone turn the wheel to check it.

Well I wouldn’t touch that pot an arm, it’s disgusting..  and I have intermittent power steering, hmmmmmm...  weather is supposed to be good this weekend, might be time for a grease cleansing.

Go over to Home Depot and pick up there industrial degreaser. It's super strong and does a excellent job of getting the grease off the truck. I typically mix it up in a small garden sprayer and hose the entire front of the truck down. Engine, suspension, frame, and underside. Then power wash it all off.

My vacuum pump still leaks pretty good idk i must have installed a o ring wrong i just resealed it a few months back.
