BBI injectors from Smarty source?

Recommended Posts

OK so I have not followed the performance end of the Cummins crowd for a couple of years and especially since selling my 02 last year I seem to have fallen off on new stuff. I saw a post by Mike yesterday with mention to Smartysource.com which I had never heard of. Went there and checked it out for a bit and did some reading on the BBI injectors they have developed and sell. Question is does anyone have any input on them? I see they want 4K for a set but do not show what or if there is a core included in that price, if no core I can't believe anyone would spend that kind of money on a set. I am looking at doing an injector swap on my 05 as it has never idled real smooth when cold since I bought it with 18k on it but it getting a bit more hickuppy at first start up. I found a set of new Bosch stockers locally with only 30K miles on them but am in the process of dealing on them, guy is asking 2K or offer so I offered 1100 and have not heard back yet.

They only do new injectors, so I cannot imagine there is an associated core.

Good cores do sell online thou.

I sent them an e-mail and tried to call but got the answering service so waiting for a return to see if they accept cores and what the best price would be either way.

Either way...............4K OUCH!!!!

What's so "special" about their injectors other than they are new???? Better than DDP or F1 injectors.................why/how????:2cents::whistle:

From their own web forum. http://smartyresource.net/forum/showthread.php?17-US-or-them I am still waiting for replay from them on the BBI which I do think is way out of my league for what I would spend, but in the mean time the guy said he would accepted my offer of 1100 for Brand new stockers with 30K miles on them he said he changed the factory filter every oil change at 5k miles and had a Fass system with dual filters which he changed every 10k miles so they have had good filtration, anyone think this is not a good deal? If I decide to get them who would everyone recomend I send them to for cleaning check up and calibration and possibly 50 hp nozzles installed?

Most of these NEW injectors that are coming out are very similar to what I explained to WAR EAGLE over PM. They use those nozzles or put new nozzles on. We can do something very similar for far less than some of the big name places. Mark ups can be incredible and there is no reason to pay a thousand dollars for a box to have things shipped in.

War Eagle sent me a very insightful PM with info he got from you among other sources. When I find out more from the guy I am dealing with a set of used ones I will get in contact with you for a one on one. I am waiting to see if he has the part # of the ones he put in to see if they were truly unused brand new or Bosch remans branded as new from them.

Looks like I am going to pass on the new used remans, guy wrote back and they are built in 04 and do not have a new part #, part # on the 2 he looked at start with R 0431.

Got a reply back from Rip on the BBI injectors and they are out of the question now too, just way way way to much money.

"Hi Bill, the BBi injectors are the most impressive I've ever had any experience with. We've yet to have a customer that wasn't tickled pink with the achieved results. Stg. 1's are 3990$ which includes lower 48 ground shipping. They are BRAND new, with NO cores required. They are in stock & typically ship within 24 hrs., excluding week ends. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask.

Thank you for your interest,

Rip"

Probably wait for a lull and pull mine out and send thm in for an upgrade, time to contact DAP.

I wouldn't be able to install those injectors if I bought them even. Kinda hard to do that work when you had to sacrifice "an arm and a leg" to get them.:smart::duh:Quality is one thing........................rape is another.:2cents:And I don't mind paying for quality.

Everytime I look at this subject the cost, and the endless options available are enough to make a person dizzy.. It truely represents a major reinvestment in your truck..If I plan on keeping my truck until the wheels fall off..(which I do) Then I can justify the $$$.The thing I wrestle with now is.. If I`m going to go this far, then I might as well go all the way, and address every performance & reliabilty issue all at once.. which could be accomplished with a trip to the bank:whistle: The alternative?? Do nothing, and wait for inevitable issues to arise one at a time, and risk a catastrophic failure.. Or trade the thing off for a new one, and suffer the depreciation loss all over again. Please excuse my mindless rambling, but I`m thinking this is all money well spent if a person is going to keep a long term relationship with their truck:2cents:

Money well spent would be a good filtration system and BRAND NEW INJECTORS...We have both for about $2200-2300 on our website and I have 20+ sets in stock. I will be happy to sell some for $4000 with no core and free shipping. Marketing is a powerful tool. Don't fall victim to elitist advertising.

Oh, I did`nt mean to be justifying the extra cost for the elitist claims:doh:.. Just the cost in general before you find out you have major engine damage along with a set of injectors. I was`nt clear from the webpage?? Is that $2200-$2300 for new Bocsh injectors? or are they another brand? Scratch that question I was still on my first cup of coffe this morning LOL! Those new Bosch stainless steel +50 look like the ones for me.. That looks like a great price on the new tubes as well

We try to offer good value.I did not mean to imply that you were elitist.... much of the marketing out there is an appeal to ego and pride and not about value.... it is my own sop box rant so please excuse me.Sounds like you found the new stainless injectors on our site...I also agree with you that some people throw parts at the problem instead of doing basic checks like making sure that a cylinder has not gone out before dropping $$ on a set of injectors.

From what I read from other posters who are starting to experience serious problems.. it does`nt appear that 3rd gens give alot of warning signs that the injectors are failing? Or maybe they are just not taking notice of the subtle changes of their engine:shrug:.Mine is bone stock original at the moment, and I would like to incorporate an injector change along with a few other upgrades at the same time so the whole package plays well together.

50-60HP and 63mm turbo are great. We have a 63/68/12 that is priced right. you could do 100HP, but not tune it hot with the programmer.
