COLD

Farmers almanac said our area was supposed to be milder than normal this year. Well January being the coldest month of winter, starting off, this evening we are forecasted to experience an evening low of negative 20with 50mph wind gusts!

Might need to pucker up for this one!

If the bees live I'll be happy!

Were nothing like ya'll up north, normally, but it's warmer than normal down here.

Had snow 'bout Thanksgiving day when we shouldn't of.

Now end of the year and a very light coat weather ... and rain ?

Wonder what's next, sunny in January and snow next July ?

PS: hope you all up north don't have it as bad as last winter.

Last winter was actually very mild for us up here in ND. Only shoveled snow twice and although winter seemed to last 6 weeks longer than normal the temps were overall above average for the winter as a whole.

-12 actual temp and -31 wind chill on the weather station at this moment here at work.

It has been a very warm fall and early winter for us as well like Tom said, can't complain at all.

-12* with a 5 to 15 mph breeze here this AM. We are under a Wind Chill Advisory for wind chils of -25* to -35*. W&F should be experiencing the same thing.......

Your cold feels a lot worse coming off the big lake than our cold, that high humidity cold off the lake blows right through my bones twice as fast as other types of cold. I never thought I would get tired of the cold and winter but every year past 40 makes me want to be down south more and more every year and every trip down there just reinforces that even more.

Even still almost 3 hours later its 18*F and 88% humdity outside I know exactly what you mean about blowing through your bones.

That's what bites about this cold snap is we have been over 80% humidity for a while too, the cold has definitely got more "Bite" to it when the humidity gets over 70% range.

With this damp, windy, cold;  my Grandpa used to say, "The wind has razor blades in it." :wow:  :hyper:

Well, last night was our trip home from family in Spokane. we had some pretty crazy wind on the drive but not like what it was when we got home! It was -2 when we got home and seemed like we were playing catch up with heating the trailer all night.

Thankfully the temperatures have actually improved since and were sitting at the teens right now with another single digit to sub night. Supposed to improve a little by Thursday.

Since I've taken up beekeeping, moving towards warmer year round weather has been on my mind too.

-14 right now. Feels like -30 with a 5 mph wind. Suppose to hit -27 with a -50 wind chill. Im just glad there isnt any wind with this and I am not working midnights

LOL<   yah,  I see you guys  made  National news  this morning;   Scottsbluff  had  the  nations'  low for the  morning..

I was lucky,     only  14 below,  and now the  wind is out of the SW..   NO PROTECTION   anywhere  in a  S wind

Hee Hee Hee.....................and people think its cold in ND, was a balmy +2 overnight last night here.

A few years ago we went to Fl. in December, got off the plane in Orlando to be met by 38* temps exactly the same as when we got on in Bismarck. Even this last trip we saw temps in the 40's & 50's  and windy the last few days there, was warmer in ND than Fl for a few days in November.

Gotta love Hawaii, 75-80 year round not much variance.
