Open carry isn't frowned upon but it is anything but common in Boise. I haven't seen anyone open carry in recent enough memory to recall. It's not frowned upon here in Boise but CC is the norm.

Funny you call a .22 a pee shooter as it has LOTS more kills than a 9mm and I personally consider it a better CCW round than 9mm but that is all preference.

Most people just don't pay attention. I have always open carried in Yellowstone, since a G22 is too big to conceal, and maybe twice a day, if that, it will be noticed. For the most part people aren't looking.

Here in ND one can only open carry on private property be it your own or someone else's with permission and while in the field actively hunting or if one is allowed to open carry for job duties like LEO or other law enforcement or government agency that is allowed to. Law states every effort must be made to conceal to ones best ability, meaning it has to be mostly covered at all times within reason.

I need to test for the ND class 1 test now as it is now has better reciprocity than the Utah permit nation wide due to testing standards, a lot of states require an actual shooting proficiency test and Utah is just a simulator training test.

A simulator training test?  My Utah CCP isn't due for renewal until next year but I've never had to take a test to get my permit.

May be different since you are a resident of the state not sure, when I took the Utah class it was a 4 hour class IIRC with practical hand on with dummy guns and then real life scenario simulator exercises.

Been almost 5 years but do not recall a written test with it can't remember.

So I ended up going with the Springfield XD mod.2 in .45

It's a great gun, shoots really well for a .45, and honestly for as short as the barrel is, shoots like a smaller caliber gun. I carry it with a Stealthgear holster and have ZERO issues concealing/carrying all day.

My obsessiveness got the best of me and for the sake of comparison I ended up getting the Sig P320 compact in 9mm. It is an amazing gun! Feels better in the hand then any other gun I've owned, has a double action pistol that shoots like an aftermarket single stage trigger. It really is a great weapon. Although bigger then the XD I am still able to conceal it really well in an alien gear 3.0 holster.

All in all I'm more then content with my choices and feel that no matter the situation or gun I happen to be carrying that day, I will be able to deal with any threat posed to myself, family or anyone else near by.
