So give me your thoughts. I called Snarty and asked about the BBis and if they had cured the injector failure problems. They wouldn't commit to a yes saying there hadn't been enough used to tell. Said 2 micron filter was the answer. So I took that as a no. So tell me what you think woul be best and why.

Last Monday I drove from Challis, ID to Kuna, ID and got 22.8 mpg! It's overall downhill but there are 2 descent grades to climb as well. My previous best was 21.5 and I've only broken 20 2 or 3 times. Normally mid 19's is excellent for this truck. It's heavy and has plenty of things to induce drag. I got full on the refill so I don't think it's a big error, and I'll have another change to try and duplicate it this fall. I did get 19.4 going the longer route two weeks ago and all of that was above 70 so it does check based on the slower speed of the shorter, but curvy, route. Avg speed for the tank was 47.0. I took the pic…

Been noticing i cannot hold rail pressure. Yesterday while driving to seattle, my RP was only about 7000 psi @ 75 mph. Couldn't get much over 12k under heavy acceleration. I stopped to fuel up and after starting it back up, my pressures were better but still down. Thinking I popped my PRV, any thought?

  4. 05 gets 22+ around town, 24+ unloaded hwy. I am easy on it becuse its my money. The 07 however, 18 in town and not much more on the hwy. I havent had time to get in the shop manual but I am thinking there are some emmision items on the 07 that may not be on the 05. Of course any speculation of modification is only theoretical . Both are stock and unchiped. I am going to gauge both before applying an tunners. The 07 has a brand new set of Dodge warranteed injectors in it, thank you Dodge:thumb1: , and the correct filtration. My question: does anyone know what the changes were between the 07 5.9 and the 05 that could be corrected on the 07 and experience with same. …

G-DAY TO ALL! i have the 04.5 Cummins and would like to uncover more facts/understanding about inj. nozzle spray angles. my inj. seem fine, but i [& perhaps you] want to sort out some questions on inj. options BEFORE i'm needing to replace. A rather expensive replacement part!! Lets do it right! as the title says, some use 03 inj. on 04.5+ eng. i'm thinking of a moderately mod.ed eng. [not 500++ hp] would i lose hp [305 vs 325 hp]? at what hp level dos the spray angle become a danger? [assuming it does] ........................................................................

:ahhh:Sooo...I'm putting fuel in the truck at the only diesel pump at the station, in rolls what looks like a brand new Dodge diesel. He pulls around to the other side which is gas only and, starts pumping gas...in his diesel ! So I poke my head around the pump and say " Hey ,that's a nice looking diesel-love the Cummins, but do you know your putting gas in it?" He never stops pumping and just snaps " doesn't matter , a little won't hurt it" YIKES!! I bet he put 6-7 gallons in that thing, fired it up and drove off.. I wish I would have followed him now, just to laff, and offer a tow..

I have looked over the front driveshaft u-joint each time I changed the oil and have yet to find where to grease it. Because of taking the time to look each time I change oil, it takes an hour to do this. I need help. I have read through this site, other sites and have spent enough time reading on this topic, it’s like spending months in a library. One pic shows where to grease (I borrowed from another site), and the other is my front joint. There is a major difference. a) On the older style joint there are retaining clips holding the caps on.b) There are NO retaining clips holding the caps in on mine, but little pins through the side. There is no hole for greasing anywhe…

I saw somewhere on one of the Dodge/Cummins forums that it was possible to modify your air dam by attaching a Gen 2 air dam to the Gen 3 air dam. I kind of liked the look of the deeper air dam so I thought I would look into it and see if I could make it work. The air dam also has a purpose of moving air down under the truck to help reduce the drag on the underside of the carriage (thereby helping mpg's on the truck). Now since I also have a Gen 2 vehicle it was pretty easy to measure things and evaluate whether it would fit well enough that I could be happy with it. I took a few pictures along the way to document what I saw as I made the mod and what it looks…

  10. I know not many here use TP bypass oil filters like Michael and I; I have to ask, why are the TP rolls getter smaller????You'd think with the "obesity" epidemic in our country, the TP rolls would be getting larger IMHO!!!! My MotorGuard bypass oil filter was designed with 4.5" wide TP rolls in mind..........just as I believe the Frantz TP filter was also.I the last couple years, the TP rolls have gone from 4.5" wide, down to 4.25" wide, now down to 4.1" or even 4.0" wide!!! For a while I thought my ___ was getting wider..............but I still have the "Schwarzeneggarian" 180lb. physique I had in high school!!!My question to all using TP bypass filters is this........…

I read these posts about members wanting to go to 19.5" wheels and tires. I had been looking into them myself and have a website all of you guys and gals should take a look at. There is a lot of information about changing to 19.5" wheels and tires, including what the affects will be on the Speedometer/Gearing and such. Take a look. Ricksontruckwheels.com. Hope to talk to all again soon. Your friend Pepe.

  13. I've got an AirDog 165, and a CAT 2um filter, supplying my dual CP3's. So the A/D pulls from my sump sends it through my Baldwin BF1275, then to my Fleetgaurd FF5617, then to my CAT 1R-0750, and finally to the CP3's. I often run through the deserts of California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas so fuel stations are few and far between, and often I just have to get fuel where I can. Injectors and CP3's are expensive and breaking down on the side of the road is even worse with those costs. My question is, I know the BF1275 is the best F/WS I can use, but the Fleetgaurd isn't the best F/F I can use. What filter should I use on the A/D that would still flow adequately and comp…

UDC Pro 0.0.0.12 was released last Wednesday and I've been re-tuneing my truck. I did my last tune revision at the end of last years tow season and have been very very please with how it preforms so I really have done too much with the big tables, timing, rail pressure, and duration. I started off looking at the fuel limiters, of which there are many. Since my truck is used as a towing/hunting/camping truck I am not going crazy with the fuel. I was able to improve spooling and mid rpm fueling but utilizes the stock limiters to have a smoke free experience. I can now put my foot on the floor at 1500 rpms and not have any black out the tail pipe, y…

A friend of mine is the second owner of a 2007 Cummins 2500 truck, 4x4, auto transmission, - all stock parts. He purchased the truck in January of 2013 with 104,000 miles on the odometer. The odometer currently reads 205,000 miles. A tuner has been disconnected from the engine for troubleshooting purposes. Until recently, the truck has started and ran well. I am trying to assist him to diagnose the following problem. In early December, he notified me that the truck started to run very poorly just as he was arriving home. He recorded these codes: P0205 Fuel Injector 5 Circuit P2149 Fuel Injector Group 2 Supply Voltage Circuit Using a multi-meter he che…

  17. After I changed the neutral safety switch on the transmission the problem went away, for a bit, but is now back worse than before. To get it to start all I have to do is put it in neutral and just lightly pull up on the shift lever, and she cranks right up.I looked under the truck last night and wiggled the wiring, the switch and the shift cable to see if anything was loose or broken. Everything looks / feels OK. Looked under the dash and there looks like there is another switch under there. Anybody know what that switch is?

I'm curious if this radiator support cross brace has to be removed to remove the engine? If so how do you remove this cross brace? I've got the 8 bolts already lose in the picture. When I remove then the brace will slide a bit both ways but not enough to remove it.

  19. My truck is an early '03 with the 250 hp engine and 47 series transmission. Unfortunately with over 100K miles and turning my Smarty up too high,I have to rebuild my tranny. Does anybody have any idea what it takes to upgrade the internals to the 48 series trans? Someone told me the only difference is the 48 series is fully electronic with the same clutch packs as the 47 series. The stealership told me the 47 series is basically a 727 with an overdrive and is as strong as the 48. Then I was told the 48 series is tougher trans then the 47 by someone else. Not sure what to believe. :banghead: With the later '03 Rams getting the higher output engine and a 48 series leads me …
