Hello, at the risk of being redundant on the forum, I drive a 98.5 24v with a 5 speed manual. About a year ago I started having a slight stutter at idle. It’s not hard, just enough to to feel and hear and it’s very erratic and only when the engine is at operating temp. At the time I was seeing some metal shavings in my fuel filter housing every time I would change it so I attributed it to the lift pump. Within the last month I changed my lift pump to a FASS 165, afterward my truck developed a hard start issue. Due to the fact my VP was original to the truck and I figured my old lift pump had warm enough to have low fuel pressure, I replaced it with a…

47re shifts in and out of all gears does not do it first thing in the morning when when everything gets all warmed up it will jump in between gears and 1-2 will be super late. Fresh rebuild with only 2000 miles on it. Replaced gov pressure sensor and transducer. Sometimes it will go away for a while if I do an apps reset but not always. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks!

I was out of town and I pulled onto road and the truckstalled. The day before it was loaking but drove fine. Got Error code 1689 (ECM Comm failure) Noticed no Fuel pres. Installed new Lift pump and newfuel filter... No fix Friends shop looked at it and run 12v to Inf Pump pin#7 andGrnd to #6(?). Truck ran for 30min. ECM failure!? ECM replaced butneeded programmed. Dealership tried to program but continous failures (notenough power to ECM). 1 week later no one could figure it out so I had it towedhome. Won't start, no fuel pressure and lift pump does not turnon. No power to VP44 pin#7, constant 12V on Blue with red tracer…

Now I got code 216:cry: after code 230 cleared by itself. Truck runs smooth as glass with no symptoms:think:. Has new Raptor 100 with the harness. Running 17.5 fuel pressure. Volt meter shows 13.1 volts at the lift pump when you bump the starter. Batteries at 13.6. fuel relay in the PDC tests good. Both filters changed 3,000 miles back with A clean and clear bowl on the Racor filter bowl.Okay, should I switch out the primary filter (suction side) from a 45 g.p.h. to a 90 g.p.h.? Might have too much restriction. I know I can pull f/p from 17.5 down to 14 with half inch fuel lines all the way.Should I not go to Yosemite with the 216 error code? It's a 1300 mile round trip.…

Well………….I hadn’t drove my truck in over a month so yesterday I thought I would head up to my hunting spot and check it out. I was going to back in so I wouldn’t have to slow down too much when leaving. The snow was pretty piled up at the road bank and looked a little deep in the parking spot so I gave it a little extra to get all the way in. Now I’ve got the following codes that I think are a result of me throwing snow to get the truck parked. I rolled the key 3 times to get them. 1693, 0500, 0234 I have Superchip controller but I keep the truck in “STOCK” mode all the time. The Superchip says I only have 1 DTC the 0234 I tried to clear the code / co…

For 2000-2002 Year Trucks (For Owners Without Code Readers) Insert your ignition key. Turn it to the OFF position. Now turn it ON, OFF, ON, OFF, ON in less than 5 seconds. Leave it in the on position. In the odometer display it should start to display codes. It starts with P PCU errors. This is to notify you that the error codes are coming. They would show up as Pnnnn. All error codes are listed in 4 digits. Write down all Pnnnn error codes that are displayed. P Done will notify that P PCU error code list is done. Now we display P ECU errors. This is to notify you that the error codes are coming. They would show up as Pnnnn. All error codes are listed in 4…

DTC P0234: TURBO BOOST LIMIT EXCEEDED Monitor & Set Conditions Turbo boost limit is monitored when the ignition is on. DTC may be stored if Engine Control Module (ECM) senses engine speed is greater than 2200 RPM with no intake air pressure sensor out of range DTCs present. Possible Causes Mechanical Wastegate Failure Wastegate Stuck Testing 1. Turn ignition on with engine off. Using DRBIII(R) scan tool, check for DTCs. If DTC Good Trip Counter is not equal to zero for P0234, go to next step. If DTC Good Trip Counter is equal to zero for P0234, replace wastegate. It may be necessary to replace turbocharger and…

DTC P1693: DTC DETECTED IN COMPANION MODULE Turn ignition on with engine off. Using scan tool, clear DTCs from PCM. Using scan tool, check for stored DTCs in ECM. Perform appropriate test procedure for stored DTCs in ECM. Perform TEST VER-2A . Mopar's Note's: This error code cannot exist by itself and will have other error codes present in the ECM and/or PCM you'll most likely require an OBDII scan tool to get the codes. P1693 is nothing more than a flag that is pointing to the other module stating there are errors. If the PCM has the P1693 code this only means that the error codes are on the ECM. Visa-Vera as well. If the ECM reports the …

Hi Guys, my truck started hesitating while driving it this morning. This happened a couple of weeks ago when I started driving when it was cold and the problem seemed to go away when warm, so I thought the Smarty was limiting fuel till the engine warmed up. This morning it hesitated (feels like fuel starvation) after it was warm, did it for about 10 minutes and then everything was fine. I just got home and pulled the codes from the Smarty and got 2; P0602 and P1693. In reading other posts here I get that the 0602 is a normal code because of the smarty changing the fuel map, and the 1693 is a companion code usually in conjunction with something else. So I have a circu…

Trying to track down the test procedures for the ess (engine speed sensor) on a 99 ram 24v. I’m assuming it would be in hertz? I’m trying to see if my ecm is correctly giving this reading to the pcm.

Ok so to start this started in the winter. When i first fire my truck up my voltage bounces from 13 to are 6 till the engine warms up then it would start charging like normal after 5 to 10 mins. No big deal i started it let it run before i go to work. Now that it is warming up. I start it and if i touch the pedal and bring in even little bit above ideal the voltage drops to around 6 and stay there. Until i let the rpms drop. Then it will bounce around then most times come back to normal. Long story short put a alternator two weeks ago and a computer on the fire wall. I have had it to the stealership twice and they always come up with something retarded that they think it …

Not sure yet there's so much oil and hard to track down exact source even after cleaning 3x. Im starting to lean to the the oil leak is comming out of one of the two rear breathers due to excessive crankpressure (higher HP truck with ppump) . However I'm not sure what to do about it. Already have the 2 breathers. http://blogs.dieselpowermag.com/6817455/whats-new/cummins-vs-crank-case-pressure/ I've heard that a vacuum leak or turbo seal leak can cause that. Doubt its turbo as its new ...... Any ideas of input into this one. How to test vacuum leak/drawdown ...... and what do do about reducing oil leak. There is 0 blowby from the front oil collector at front, 0 blowby …

Ever since I've had the truck, it's only had to barely crank once to start the engine. Now it has to crank 10, 15 sometimes 20 times before it will start. It runs fine after starting. I have a two year old Blue Chip VP44, a new lift pump and good fuel pressure and have hand over handed the entire fuel system looking for leaks. This includes: injectors, supply lines, return lines, banjo-bolt o-ring seals, fuel line steel tubes to hose connections and have detected no leaks. I have no codes showing. A fellow Cummins owner thought it might be as simple as a faulty fuel cap not venting and drawing a negative pressure on the tank, causing the fuel to syphone back to the …

OK guys I believe I'm loosing my apps due to while driving at less than half throttle it starts surging and some times bucking. No codes present and with the scanner my apps signal seams to be a little too jumpy in my opinion. Truck is the one in my Sig. Are there any other thing that would give this same issue
