Hey guys , having an issue with the oil pressure , when I start the truck Its at 40psi cold idle, when its somwhat warm its 70-80 at 2500rpm. When the truck is at full operating temp its at 20-25 psi at idle and 40-50 psi at 2500 rpm. i have checked sending unit, removed it and placed the manual guage on for these readings. I have also checked the oil press regulator on top of the oil filter mounting bracket, the spring seemed ok and the plunger moves freely in the guide. I am about to pull the oil cooler and replace the oil relief valve ( i think thats what is called) and the gaskets. I am also going to change the oil and filter. I was running lucas oil, but I think …

  3. I get this short high pitch squeal every time I shut the engine off. Sounds like a belt squeal but I`m not sure. neighbor said it could be a bad damper? What say you? Tx. 2001 dodge Ram, 5.9L 47re Trans.

  5. Hey so the truck I have is a 1999 ram 2500 5.9l cummins. lately ive been having this problem where when I come to a stop and go to take off, the truck will stay in first gear until I get rev to 2500+rpm and it will shift by itself or I can keep feathering the pedal to try and shift it. recently replaced gov pressure solenoid, speed sensor, apps sensor, I checked TV cable there is no slack in it. Ive noticed if I shut the truck off and start it back up and drive the first few stops the truck shifts perfectly fine through the gears but once I come to a few stops and try taking off it will start to stick in gears more often. Also no codes are present, any Idea of what else I…

I’ve been noticing that my coolant temperature has been running higher than normal at high speeds (75-85 mph, 2500ish rpm). Around town and slower highways it runs around 185-195, but run the rpm up and coolant quickly rises to 210-215. It drops down to 185 only a few second after I drop the rpm. I also tested this in 2nd gear locked @ 40 mph/2600 rpm, temp quickly rises to 215 but will fall to 185 in 3rd or 4th gear. I don’t normally drive around at 2600 rpm, but with 4.10 gears and an 80 mph speed limit it gets close. I recently swapped out the thermostat with a new NAPA 190* because it was not getting to operating temp and I figured it was st…

in the last 2 months this has happened 3 times. i am cruising along the freeway and bam...it fells like a miss...the truck lunges and then takes back off. it lasts just a split second. the first 2 times i had cruise control on. usually travel 60-65mph. it did it again after coming home from a hunting trip and i wasn't using the cruise and was going ~75mph. no CEL light, so autozone won't even try to read codes...just left me scatch'n my head.

I have only pulled real heavy a couple of times with this truck and both times my engine temperature gets pretty hot when pulling steep grades for a long period of time. During these grades I try to keep my EGTs around 1100-1200* but my engine temp spikes--getting real close to the 240* mark on the guage. As soon as I get over the hill and am able to maintain my EGTs at a much cooler temp the engine cools down as well. I flushed my radiator aboout 7,000 miles ago and it runs around 190* normally, and no leaks. Is this normal or should I be looking at blocked air flow through the radiator?

I see a bunch of debate topics about this brand vs that brand, but I have a more specific question. It looks like I'm needing a new manifold Currently stock, looking at the ATS 1 piece PulseFlow. Of course as sales points they claim: more performance, faster turbo spool, lower egts etc... My question.. which of these are true and which are false? Anyone have any real data? I see on a couple of posts that people claim actually spooling slower and loosing overall power using a more open manifold over stock? At what injector size does a larger manifold actually make sense? Runnin DAP +75hp injectors and an S300 turbo. Should I just hunt for a stock repl…

A buddy of mine has a 01 SO motor and he started blowing black and started knocking, well he towed it home and to me it does not sound bad enought to be a lower end knock I think its a fuel related knock. I have a set of HO injectors out of my sons truck my question is will they work in a SO? I dont see there would be a diff. :shrug:He just called and told me just installed a Airdog 150 day before yesterday, I dont see any relationship there, the AD install wouldnt have any efect,.

I have read that it would be benifical to use a SO pump instead of the HO pump. Is there any truth to the statement? If so what are the pros of it? I'm probably about to order a new pump so now would be the time swap. Thanks, Kyle

Well, was crawling around under the truck installing my Timbren's noticed two holes in the exhaust. Maybe a BB size hole in a couple of the welded seams. Is this something I should change out sooner then later? Or would I be good waiting until I get around to it?

I'm not sure why one would use this over an air removing AirDog or FASS, but for an ELECTRIC pump has anyone heard of using a Holley Dominator? Only some sizes (100 and 200 GPH) are Diesel compatible, for some reason unknown to me. I think if I was looking for a frame mounted, non-air removing lift pump, I would choose this and the external regulator over the DRP (which I have) or Raptor 100. Anyway, this post is just for bench racing, if you will. Love to hear other's thoughts. https://www.holley.com/products/fuel_systems/fuel_pumps_regulators_and_filters/fuel_pumps/carbureted_fuel_pumps/carbureted_electric_fuel_pumps/parts/12-1800

Installation is complete of the Holley HP150 Fuel Pump. This was an upgrade from a Holley Black type fuel pump. Main advantage of this pump is that it's a gerotor style gear pump. Gerotor pumps are long lasting and smooth, quiet running. Holley blue is a vane pump. Gerotor gear set Compared to the vane style of blue / black pumps Comparison Old setup below; new setup above. I'm working on a home made ECM for my truck to go along with my VP44 project. I almost found an ECM today on a burned up truck but the wiring was burned all the way to the ECM so i figured it was toast. The guy wouldn't sell it, I would have to buy the motor and he said the VP44 was bad with hot start issues. He had a V10 (blown) dually that he was going to put the cummins in. He wanted me to buy both. If he had a manual tranny in the deal I would have took it. But I skipped it. The usual diagram that many of us use has some errors in the pin names and functions. From all my VP research I know many of the details of these pin functions and thought…
