so my truck as been running like a dog. i thought it was just me, but my wife drove the truck yesterday and said so. so i went to preform an inspection and run the valves as i planned(http://forum.mopar1973man.com/showthread.php/2923-runnin-the-valves). the #2 intake rocker was real loose. i loosed the jam nut(which was really tight) and went to tighten the rocker screw and it just gave the rest of the way.....just my luck! how do i fix this?

  2. So I'm pulling the trigger on ordering a VP44. I got dead pedal 3 times yesterday and have had enough of that. I'm planning on getting it from DAP. Does anyone have any pluses or minuses about this or any other suggestions? I figured this would happen as my brother's ignorance with the VP44 is probably what lead to its premature death. With 2 stock lift pumps in it with no TCW3 and more than likely constant low pressure sound like a death sentence. He also used if for towing 2 to 3 horses and very little non towing. The silvermoose had a very demanding first 60k miles. This is going to be one expensive week. My tires will be getting replaced …

  4. Hi guys I'm back from a nice summer vacation and also with a new to me truck. Living in the mountains I decided a four wheel drive should make life a bit easier than having to chain up my dually everytime I wanted to drive it somewhere. Anyways the new truck is in my signature line. I have lots of TLC and maintenance to do but wanted to start with the fuel psi first. The truck already has a Fass 150 installed. The edge monitor is showing psi of 12 and WOT it drops to 6-7 psi. I know there is a spring on the return side that can be stretched but I would honestly rather install one that was made for the purpose I'm after. My other pot stirring debate is that the VP 44 was r…

So I have had to work 6 day a week for the past 3 months. So I'm done with that fun. Time to start my winter project. Back ground is I have a 4.0 jeep cherekee. Daddy is use to his s330 and 150 hp injector cummins. So here my question hy35 spool harder smaller hot side 9 instead of 12 but I am building this as a trail/ mud rig. Do I run the hx or hy I'm going to run 8 psi to start then when I get my stroker I'll run 14. I know this isn't cummins but this turbo are off the 24v and I have a hx35 that I toasted I can rebuild. Next question anyone have a hy35 they want to part with

  6. I have been told by our shops head diesel guy that I can just install a Raptor 100 where the stock pump used to be and leave the retrofitted intank pump alone as it will simply draw thru it. I have to say that I am leery of this setup,I have a stock 99 3500 with 237,000 on it.He runs a 2000 CTD with 500+ HP so he's no dummy but I just want it right.I was hoping the pump was still in the stock location but it as not to be,aluminum junction block.I bought the truck dirt cheap and have only put 1500 or so miles on it,fuel pressure gauge will be installed in the next 2 weeks. So what to do,the truck will be driven rarely and will be lucky to get another 1500 on it by next…

  7. I'm helping do work at a friends Trans shop. Im getting "practice" pulling CTD 4x4 transmissions Took me from about 2 + hours to get it out. My first time on one of these Second gear band was either broken or completely worn out. I'll find out this morning what else is wrong with it The owner had those locking front hub spindle kit installed, Yukon IIRC, and it had a red head steering box, steering brace, and new one piece tie rod installed

  8. Just for sake of information in case anyone's wants to know.....In attempt to reduce the "hot spot" of stagnant coolant and see if I can mildly reduce towing temps, I removed the coolant port plug between the #5 and #6 cylinder, installed a barb and ran a line over to the heater core return line. I haven't had a lot of test time since I just finished it.....and given who overly anal I am, I'm not finished with it either. I set it up by trying to have the new 5/6 line run lower than the original heater inlet line. Cold the two lines are about 1/4" apart but after the engine warms, they just touch. I'm not happy with that. :thumbsdown:On a side note, doing stuff like th…

On the way home the other day and my truck started to sputter, on and off with the power basically had a mind of its own, peddle completely dropping off. Threw a bunch of codes, alot of out of voltage codes and of course the P0606 code. Temp gauge would also bounce around.Where is the best place to get a remanded ECM? Below is a video I found on YouTube of another 24v doing the same thing.

Hey, anyone have an opinion on a good "all round" chip for my 02 Ram? I don't want a tuner or the ability to adjust on the fly or anything like that, I just want good fuel milage and maybe a bit more torque and HP if that is a by product. There seems to be so many and prices are all over the place with them. I have been kind of looking at the Quadzilla Max Mileage. Anyone had any expierience with that particular product? I know there are plenty of different manufacturers but I like the USB update feature.

  14. Just got home from my 250 mile round trip out into the hill country of Ne, and brought home some cows. Believe me, This has been bugging the hell out of me. First of all, I decided to call on the big gun. My Dad was an mechanical engineer, and I had quite an upbringing as a kid. a lot of principles were hammered home.. Almost Nazi style. Now, 45 years later, some of these principles are a little hard to bring out of the archives! My career path took me out of the loop for studying and practicing the sciences. Dad passed about 10 years ago, I sure miss being able to call him up and quiz him about how to build this, or what materials to use here.. So, I did the ne…

  16. Allright guys. Just as I was getting happy with my truck and trans... I decided to fine tune the TV cable. The last time I messed with the cable I got better results than trans shops. At home I wanted to adjust the tv cable and broke off the clip .. also managed to lose the clip no were to be found. I jerry rigged the cable to get to work. Shifted a little ugly but I expected this. Then my check gauges came on and my voltage dropped to 10 volts. Then down to 0. Made it work fine.. Checked the codes : P1682, 0622, 0743, 1765 ECU P1693 I know they are tranny codes but I need to know if I fried anything. Can i disconnect batteries clear code…

I'll try to make a long story short. I had the clutch changed a few weeks ago. Because of where I mounted the high idle switch down by the gear shifter I removed it. It's one of the first I switches I got it from DAP. I previously already changed the open wire in the harness because it started having problems. So back to this problem, I put the switch back in and the other day the IAT temps seemed weird on my scan guage 2 so I removed the switch to check it all out and make sure all connections were good. While doing this the power wire going to the switch for the indicator light came off. Me being the idiot I aim, I solder it back to the wires coming from the resistors. …

  18. I'm thinking this is something that would bolt right up to my truck but not 100% sure ? I'm still running factory turbo but with 4" MBRP. Exhaust should also bolt up shouldn't it? It did to my existing turbo. I ask because from his add he doesn't seem positive it will do other years http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/general-sale-section/516221-jacobs-exhaust-brake.html

  19. My trucks got only 68,000 on it with the PO216 code. The thing that bugs me is it runs real well, with a little lesser mileage, but, the code was cleared and has not come back. At least with a half hours worth of driving anyway. The problem is, this truck is the one I use primarily for long distances. Blue Chip Diesel says it won't leave us stranded. I am hearing conflicting reports on that. How many you guys ever got the 216 code and your truck kept going many more miles? Thanks a bunch for any advice.P.S. I'm already scheduled to get a new VP on Tuesday. Just can't put my finger on it though.
