Who has had Delay in "Wait to Start" light , delay in lift pump run when ignition is turned on ? My delay seems to be about 4 seconds. Once the Wait to Start light comes on my truck will fire right up. What was the cause and fix ?

My truck usually fires right up '99 4x4. 160k miles It started cranking longer a while back, but if I turn the ignition on and wait a few seconds for the lift pump to start it will fire right up I thought it was the fuel filter heater grommet Oring(stock fuel filter). slight seegage Well I finally resealed the grommet. But I still get long cranking if I jump right in and try and start, unless Im patient and wait a few seconds for the lift pump to run then it starts right up. Went over the whole truck fuel fittings checking for leak/seepage, top fuel tank etc. Everything looks clean and no sign of leaks Truck is stock, has all gauges, fuel press, boost, t…

I have a 2001 Dodge Ram diesel 4x4 that has developed a transmission fluid leak at the transmission cooler line to hose "quick disconnect" connection, once I finally got the connection apart, there is an o-ring inside the hose side connector. Is the o-ring available and where? Anyone have the part number for the hose line with the connector, I have searched and cannot find a part number. I prefer a good quality part, as it is very difficult to get to the trans cooler end and I don't want to have to replace it again. There are two hoses and I can't remember now which one I need, I think it is the hose closest to the driver side, but if I had both part numbers I could fig…

I replaced my water pump last year. It is leaking out of the weep hole again. The thing is when I was trying to check I didn't see anything come out of the weep hole. I could see where it had leaked out of it, there was evidence of it at the weep hole. There Is antifreeze under the pump that pooled there. But when I get the truck to temp and watch it I never saw any leak.Would the pump just leak intermittently? It just seems to me if it is going bad it would leak all the time. Is there anything else that would cause it to leak from the weep hole besides the pump goin bad?My truck is a 2002 6 speed 4x4 Thanks to anyone that can helpJason

I can't find my earlier posts on this... Every once in a while, the truck would not more than grunt. I'm only using it intermittently every couple of weeks. I have a 1.8A solar trickler on the dash into the always on lighter plug. The thing is, a hour on charge or a jump will fire it right up. The batteries don't seem to take much charging to spin it over. My first thought is dirty connections. We caught a nice warm day yesterday & I cleaned all the battery terminals with wire brushes. They weren't really bad as I have the treated felt washers under them all. I did see a spot on one that just looked a bit oxidized. I found one terminal (Pos on Driver's…

When I tried to start my truck this morning the WTS was flashing. The truck will crank but will not start. I think it may be the ECM. The fuel pump will not run when i bump the starter, but will work off the battery on a switch. I have checked all relays, fuses and battery connections. There are three codes P0123, P17656, P1694. Does anyone have any ideas what else I can check?

I recently bought an upgraded vp44 from Blue chip diesel ($1600) because my original died. After installing the first pump the truck started right up and ran great for about 10 minutes, then I got a code saying injection pump timing failure. I talked to Chip and he sent me another right away. This second pump has been great for about a week. Now for some reason around 1,000 to 1,200 rpm when I mash the go petal it loses power, makes a horrible lugging sound then picks up and runs fine. I am also having trouble starting. Warm or cold it doesn't like to start on the first crank and sometimes it won't start on the the second. This doesn't happen every time I go to start it t…

Just wondering if anyone has used these gauges? I just received fuel and egt gauges. They seem like nice gauges, they have a high and low warning light and they are not overly expensive.

Well I got my ISSPRO 3 gauge pack in and I got it installed. I ran into some problems but gave Michael a call and he helped me sort some things out that I wasn't paying attention to. I ran out of time at my shop and daylight but went on a test drive at the airport and Airdog 150 is holding rock solid 18psi at idle and 15.5psi WOT in 4th gear pull. I am also pulling 21psi peak boost on my stock truck and I think that is pretty good. All in all I am really happy with the Airdog and the ISSPRO gauges. I will try to finish up the EGT and lights and maybe a video if any one is interested tomorrow. Thanks again Mike!

The other day I smelled a strong smell of diesel fuel and I pulled the truck over. When I looked underneath the truck there were over a dozen driplets dripping off the driver's side frame rail. The frame rail was completely wet. Diesel was also dripping off the transfer case skid plate. I recently installed a Fuel Boss fuel system on my truck. My first thought was maybe one of the new rubber hoses chafed on something, even though I was extremely careful on installation. I determined the leak was between the tank and the frame rail. After several drips of diesel fuel on my face, trying to peek in the gap between the frame and the tank. Since I was on a road trip an…

Hey folks, This is my first winter with my Pacbrake. It had run flawlessly until ambient temps got down to around 10 degrees. Then it stopped working on my way home one night. The next morn. after I warmed the truck up for an extended period, it started working again. This cycle went on for a couple of days, then my 30 amp compressor fuse blew. I replaced the 30amp with a 20 amp. ambient temps are now around 32 and she's back to working reliably. My compressor is located by the passenger side battery as directed in the pacbrake instructions. I routed the air intake filter to the firewall behind my Bhaf. I have not yet remote mounted the actuator piston vent that pacb…

Hi Guys, Just came across another Bosch authorized VP44 pump rebuilder - here is the link. http://www3.jasperengines.com/blog/2011/12/02/jasper-remanufactures-vp44-diesel-injection-pumps/ The link shows the actual "diaphragm" that is installed in these pump that fails regularly - so Jasper claim. Anyway, I just thought that this link might be of some interest. Thanks

Today I was heading home from work and when I turn hard left or right the trans acts like it is not in gear, if you let off the throttle and get back on it, it kicks back in. What would cause this? I just put a new rear speed sensor and output sensor on the tail of the trans. i do have a new neutral safety switch to install yet.

Hello all! Ongoing issue with APPS. Truck developed heavy miss between 12 and 1600rpm wether truck is cold or at operating temp. No codes in computer, no CEL. Tested voltage of factory APPS (after trying resetting it) .54-.79, dropped to .51-.59, jumped to 1.02-1.73, dropped 1.51-1.57, jumped 2-2.7 etc. eratic voltage all the way to WOT at 3.81. ok, bad APPS. New timbo APPS installed per instruction, reset everything, started and miss is gone. smooth voltage .68-3.79. drove 1.5 miles and parked for three days. started back up, truck missed and loaped for ten seconds at idle (never happened before). idle cleared up, but same miss is back between 12 and 1600rpm. No CEL…

In 9/2012 my tail pipe rusted out so I had a new tailpipe put on. Now the muffler has rusted out in the front where the resonator connects. The the muffler going in is 4" and coming out is 3"My truck is completely stock and I've only put 4000 miles on it in since 10/2011 So my questions are. What if any advantage is their to delete the muffler and just go 4" from the resonator back. What if any advantage is their to delete the muffler and neck down from 4" at the resonator to 3" that is the stock size of the tailpipe. The muffler shop wants around $250 for the new muffler. Money isn't really the issue here. It's just the fact that I really don't drive the truck that much.
