99 Vp44 truck cranks slow and then quickly sounds like a very weak battery condition as far as the starter sound. It sounds like the starter is not giving enough power to turn over, then it barely starts. When it starts, it runs great(like usual). I even had someone else test my batteries and they are both new. I checked starter wiring, and it is all clean and tight. Any suggestions? Starter? it's about 3 years old. Thanks ahead of time,Will

I have a '99 24-valve Cummins that recently has been having starting issues. It was taking a long time cranking to start but I got my batteries tested and one was replaced under warranty. I also cleaned the terminals at that time and it was back to starting right up usually on the second or third crank. Then about 2 or 3 weeks ago I jumped in and turned the key to get nothing from the starter at all. I popped the hood and kinda felt the main wires and tapped on the starter. Then my neighbor came and turned the key while I looked under the hood and boom, started right up. Then it was fine until two days ago I drove to the gas station and on the way there my check eng…

Ok, Finally making headway on the massive pile of parts needing to be installed on the truck....Tonight I finally installed the "Big Line Kit" from Vulcan, that goes from the stock fuel filter to the VP44, also utilized the T push on connector for fuel gauge as I have been gradually working on installing the gauges simultaneously... I think part of my problem is self inflicted, I spent so much time reading about different options I think at the end of the day I complicated the situation. I ordered my AD, drawstraw, big line kit and Isspro Gauages (fuel pressure, trans temp and EGT) as well as the air dog low fuel pressure light all at the same time... (seemed logical a…

Will its started, I have just got the bumper off and I bet the truck raised 2 inches from just the weight . My question is can the evaporator or let me say can the A/C compressior stay hooked up while I pull eng. The reason is this A/C is the coldest A/C I have ever seen, it will get down to 29 degress in south Tx 100 plus heat, I just hate to break the seal .Has anybody ever done this?

So as the title states, is it necessary to retorque (ensure all bolts are up to correct ft/lb) the head bolts after break in and some mileage after full rebuild? So far i have about ~3000miles on my rebuild. I have had no issues but i heard rumors of needing to recheck torque on all head bolts. I am also unsure of what the ft/lb is to check for if needed. I did do proper install on head per rebuild manual. thoughts suggestions?

Well, at risk of being run down by truckers for past tank of fuel, I tolerated 55 mph to/from work (60 miles each way, altitude gain/loss 2000 feet from Flagstaff to Winslow and back), and resulted in 25.68 mpg hand calculated. Scan Gauge II was giving me 26.4.

Well haven't been on here for a couple years. My old 2002 24v 6 speed's life came to an end and mine almost did as well. Was Sept of 2016 and I was coming home from fishing. Was about 9:30pm. I was traveling below the speed limit by about 5km/hr. Speed limit is 100km/hr (approx 60mph). I noticed a truck was really wanting to pass. So I was driving along then out of no where Big Canadian Mr Moose comes trotting out. I had a split second to figure out what to do. Either hit him and maybe have him come through windshield and kill me or go around him and almost certain roll my truck because of the non existant shoulders of the road and steep banks. So I had no …

I was just wondering if anybody has taken the box off of one of the newer style Dodge Pickups 94 and up? When I was installing propane and natural gas systems and the tanks on vehicles many years ago we found it alot easier to install the fuel systems with the box off. I didn't do a newer style Dodge at that time. At that time 4 guys would pick it up and another would push the truck forward and put two saw horses under the box where we would set it down. I need to do the sending unit and new fuel lift pump system so that is why I was wondering how easy these boxes come off. It's so much easier to work standing up.

I did a pretty good bit of running around frome Friday night to this morning and just figured I would post some pics of the mileage. it was better than it had been all week but since it warmed up i wasn't having to go through long warm ups with truck. I have the SG2 set by GPS on speed and have not messed with the setting for when coasting. Most of the driving was at 60MPH with Edge on 5x5. I played around in town a little and turned Edge down to 3x5 to get a little smoke when I was shifting. And I had a short 30-40 mile run at 65-67MPH with Edge on 5x5.

I am going to be running an AirDog 150. I'm going to retain my stock fuel filter due to the fact that I live in the norther states and a fuel heater really helps. my questione is i can get a Big Line kit from Vulcan from the fuel filter to the IP, it comes in 3/8" or 1/2" lines, I'm wondering which would be better for me? I'm thinkingthe 1/2"?

I recently bought a 2001 4wd Cummins with an automatic transmission. The transmission was slipping in 2nd gear, but all the other gears worked great including overdrive. I swapped a 2wd transmission from a 1997 into the 2001 and now I do not have overdrive. I drove the 97 before the swap, so I know all the gears worked. The swap consisted of installing the 4wd overdrive housing with transfer case on the 2wd transmission, and I had to swap the neutral safety switch due to the plugs being different. I have checked pin 6 (brown wire) at the transmission plug and it has a constant 13-14 volts when driving the truck. The pcm isn't sending the signal to the overdrive solenoid. …

My 99 3500 lost boost coming home the other day. No lights came on and after about 20 minutes it came back to life and ran great the rest of the way home. Now when I start it up and take off, it has no boost in the beginnning but will gradually build up to around 10-11lbs as the truck warms up. From there it's anybody's guess as to how it will act. Going from nothing to full power again. It starts great and has yet to throw a light. I just took it to our local Napa and had them plug it in to pull the codes and it showed nothing at all. Not even in the "Stored" side. I did try the APPS reset and that seemed to make no difference. It's showing 10-11lbs fuel pressure at idle…

I have an 01" qcsb. Since almost a year ago, every time I pull my camper down the interstate, I will loose first gear. Now, I do tow in overdrive, camper only weighs 5k. I am thinking when the governor sensor blows, is when it downshifts into third. I have changed the sensor three times myself, along with the governor transducer. After the third time I dropped it off at the dealer, didn't have the time or patience to look at it again. They changed the solenoid under warranty twice, the second time they changed the overdrive solenoid I believe? Which included a harness that plugs into the governor solenoid that keeps going. So basically, the governor solenoid has been chan…

Is there any harm in fueling "up the spout"... above the other opening inside the filler neck? Occasionally, I have done this when I got a good price & did not want to give the highway bandits any more than I had to. If this is not a good idea, I'll not do this again. A comment on another thread got me thinking...Russ

So i got my first ever owned diesel a 1999 dodge 24v diesel w/ 235k miles on it. It has a bit of troubles here and there. Ive noticed that since I got it for such a steal of a deal so i cant complain about its troubles. But there are a few, first off from roughly 1 1/2k to 2k rpm the tranny seems to have trouble getting up and going it feels like it is slipping, the other day i had it in 4 hi and i was trying to reverse up a hill and it just felt like it was going no where the motor sounds healthy. I know this truck has a lot of power that i am not seeing because of the transmission slipping. Another thing i have encountered is my keyless entry for the truck when i press…
