  2. Can the main computer shut down the Bosch VP44 if there is a cooling problem or temp sensor error? I have been having cooling problems on hot days and under load. After flushing radiator, the engine ran normally for 5 minutes down the freeway and then suddenly stopped and wouldn't start. (as if it ran out of fuel) . Fuel pressure from lift pump is OK. Fuel to the injection pump inlet OK but nothing at the injectors. There was no missing, no smoke, no roughness, good 23 mpg, just before shutdown. Coolant temp was normal. It seems odd that the VP44 would fail after I was working on the coolant system. Is there an internal fuel shutoff solenoid inside the VP44? …

  3. Well, I was going to take my truck in today to have the codes read because I had the p1693 companion code. To review, I started another thread about my truck choking out on the highway, where I could power through it or back off and it would go away. Then my batteries died and after installing the new ones the truck seemed to run great! Now to my new issue... Towed my rock truck to an event this weekend and the truck only "choked" a little on the way up. Coming back I had to drag my buddies trailer back. 40 foot gooseneck with two buggies on it. I'm guessing 16,000 pounds. Truck was running great, went to lay into the throttle going up a hill and holy cow I thought my tru…

so my truck as been running like a dog. i thought it was just me, but my wife drove the truck yesterday and said so. so i went to preform an inspection and run the valves as i planned(http://forum.mopar1973man.com/showthread.php/2923-runnin-the-valves). the #2 intake rocker was real loose. i loosed the jam nut(which was really tight) and went to tighten the rocker screw and it just gave the rest of the way.....just my luck! how do i fix this?

  5. To remove wheel bearings you must first get to them.I left one tire on the ground the other i used a jack stand to get it off the ground. The rotor can be a major pain.I use a air hammer with a dime size bit and hammer around the lugs. Some times this works. If the rotors are trashed just beat them. You will crack them but if there trashed and you are going to replace them then it is no biggie. You need to remove the brake caliper and the bracket that holds it.Be careful not to bend the dust cover it is sandwitched between the wb and the housing.Use a bungie or a coat hanger to hold up the caliper out of the way. The axle nut should stay on.Remove the 4 bolts 1/2 way out tha…

  6. I've spent the better part of a day an a half searching for someone that has posted something similar to the problems that I am having with no avail. I am hoping someone has some insight. This is on my 2001 4X4 that is pretty much stock. Background - It is on the third engine that I know of with the most recent swap being about 4 months ago. I do have codes that I have pulled with a scanner, but do not remember the numbers, something related to no communication from the transmission BUS. I believe that it is a ground or a plug somewhere, but being a new member I do not have access to the files that I need to trace it. I have gone through the schematics on the main sit…

My airdog 100 bit the big one yesterday, I had blown a fuse last week( 20 amp )and sicne then had to put 30'S to keep it going. Well 30's wont keep it going anymore. I belive it is something in elec. motor like bearing or something along those lines. Anyway I got to thinking, I shimmed the spring about 5 months ago to get more fuel pressure on the gauge 17 lbs. Could I be overworking my little 100, I have the 150 draw straw in tank. Well I ordered a 150 pump today, I just cant be down that long untill I get it back. Just thinking out loud, what do yall think?Oh and I was told today that the new pumps come with quick connects instead of the push on connects.

Hello I have an early 2001 2500 4X4 sport with rear drum brakes, I am in the process of changing brakes and I am looking for some help. I purchased the brake hardware kit and the one the parts store(orielys)shows for my truck is not correct. Any one have any idea's or maybe had the same issue before. I would like to see an exploded parts breakdown if anyone has a link I would really appreciate it. It appears the shop that did the job last put left and right on the wrong sides the auto adjusters where not contacting the star wheels, the shoes look new no wonder I had such lousy brakes I complained to them several times and got no satisfaction. Was unable to do them the l…

  9. So, I know that these trucks were not designed to just be making trips to the supermarket & back home every day, but I have a truck that basically has just been used as a daily driver all its life. The truck got used once to tow a trailer from Oregon to Alabama & that was the most work it has seen in its entire life.....Basically, right now, I am using the truck to drive back and forth to work every day.....The problem is that I live so close to my shop that most of the time the truck never even gets up to normal operating temperature from the time that its started till it is shut down. What I'm wondering is if this is bad for the engine over time to not get it up…

But did it do anything else that i need to fix.. I cleared the codes and the code number was p 0743, p 1765, and p 1693.. Would it of caused any harm to the chip? or the truck? Thanks

  18. Hello everybody this is Randy from Indiana, sorry it took so long to get these results but our labs busy season had started and i had to slip it in when I could. So i tested a Kendall GT-1 two cylce oil bought from Hires auto parts and compared it to our TDR-S product. The results are as follows: I treated the fuel with one once of two-cycle oil per ten gallons of diesel fuel or 700ppm's per gallon. The base fuel had a HFRR of 520um which is ASTM spec The fuel with the two-cycle oil had HFRR of 470um. The fuel treated with the TDR-S had a HFRR of 425umSo the answer to some of your questions is yes the two-cycle oil does lubricate your engines, but if you were …

Russ is in a pinch with the economy going down and with his disabilities it hard for him to do the work himself. So I'm asking all the members of the site to please look at this message below and see if you can help Russ out... What I'm asking is if there is any member on the east coast near Rhodes Island that could give Russ a hand by either donating time or possibly parts to his cause.
