My 01 started running a little rough intermittently. It did it once and quit. Hell I thought it was a glitch but about 3 weeks later it was running rough again. I changed the fuel filter with no change. Then I changed the lift pump and it ran better but not good. I wasn’t having any issues with it starting at all, just randomly would get loss of power. At this point I was still driving it to work but it was getting worse. You could turn of the key going down the highway and boom it would run good again, maybe for a minute or the rest of the day. It finally got to where it would take a few minutes to start so I went ahead and changed the VP44. It ran perfect for 2 days and…

Good Day all , I did search a lot before asking but I could not find. My truck is stock and I has boost / fuel pressure and exhaust temp gauge. So for the last 2 year my truck was always cutting fuel/power without me letting the gas pedal off. it was not noticeable physically but I could see it on the boost gauge , it was maintaining 4 PSI and then dropping to 2 and back up to 4 on a flat road. As soon as I was turning the cruise control on it was going away. problem solve. I'm always on CC. Now since the last 6 month, my truck don't get dead pedal effect when CC off, but as soon as I turn the cruise control on, my truck start accelerate way pass the s…

Hello, I'd like to thank you all for already teaching me so much. This time I'm in quite the bind it seems. My problem started about 6 months ago with what came to be a small surging while maintaining moderate speed ~ 40 mph. I thought it was my foot shaking a bit and thought little of it. 2 weeks ago the surging was terrible and started in the morning while leaving for work. I limped home idling in granny gear up hill the whole way.Original code was 0122, so I replaced the APPS with one of Timbo's. Problem not solved. I also replaced MAP sensor from Cummins and ordered the adapter from Geno's. Checked the wires and grounds and things appear good. Finished installi…

when my 02' is cold in the morning I have really bad dead pedal no power, until it warms up for several minutes. Then is runs fine for a while then until the truck is good and heated up I am getting intermittent dead pedal throughout the day. I checked the codes on the ignition and am getting P 1693, P 0122 and P 0216. I am not getting any white smoke and I am not getting any check engine light and no rough idling at all. I just replaced my apps with a Timbo apps sensor....still having the same problems. I've checked the maps sensors and both are clean. My question is does all this add up to a bad VP44 or is there something easier and less expensive I can check before div…

My 2001 RAM 2500 24V Cummins Automatic (56K Miles) goes from dead pedal starting at 2000 RPM in 1st gear to having the transmission disengaged above 2000 RPM. Sometimes I can rev the engine but it acts like the truck is in neutral. The truck will drive in first gear, as long as I stay under 2K RPM. I have replaced the APPS, same problem. The error codes are:P PCUCP 0720P ECUP 1693 Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi guys need some help here. I had the check engine light come on me driving home last night. I had the P0222 code. So I parked the truck and shut it off. Then I plugged into it and reset that code. Upon starting it immediately jumped to 1500rpms without touching the pedal and would not leave that range. I limped it home as I was really close. I suspected the apps. So I replaced it with an oem one along with the batteries bcuz they were going anyways. Just to rule those out of the equation. Also my alternator failed two days before so it's new and putting out 14.1. Anyways, after installing a new appsand batts, I attempted to perform the calibration procedure for it. I th…

Okay I have a 01 2500 24v. Has 168,000 miles. Only thing done to the truck is a 60mm banks turbo and a banks intake. And has a fass fuel system. I bought the truck a month ago. I drove it over 3 hours home and did great. Soon as I got home it got dead pedal. I got the codes check and it throws codes ( p1693 0121 0113 1698 0522 0562 0237 0217 1488) it’s showing sensors has low voltage. I have a brand new aap sensor from advance auto. And a brand new alternator. And nothing changed. I calibrated like I was supposed to. So i figured it was the computer on the firewall. I bought one from fs1 and it came in today. I hooked it up and nothing changed. Still has dead pedal. (BUT…

2001 dodge cummins I'll be on the highway and lay on my throttle and it'll boost to 10-15 psi and gradually climb from there.... But if I gradually decrease throttle pressure I can feel my power increasing significantly... Like 20-30 psi total. Fass 150 smarty and TST power max

I own a 2002 ram 2500 6 speed with the HO cummins, 145k, recently i was pulling my equipment trailer and upon taking off from a stop sign had what felt to be a dead pedal/poor throttle response, taking 2x-3x as long to get up to around 2000rpm than it normally would. Slight bucking would occur but more of the issue is the slow throttle response. No matter where the pedal position is, there is no change in throttle response, its just a matter of slowly building rpms. Even though the throttle response is slow, the truck will get up to 3500rpm. I did have a garage do a diagnostic on it and they claimed fuel pressure from the lift pump was sufficient. There is no excess ex…

Probably a stupid question did the alternator a/c test on my truck reads around .032 say there and watched it for a minute and it shoots up to .09-.1 for about 5 seconds than returns to .032. Does the same cycle like clock work. I’m assuming it is the alternator full fielding?

So I bought my first truck, a 99 Dodge Ram 2500 Turbo Diesel, last July. A couple months later I started having what I found out was called a "dead peddle" issue. It started losing power & not accelerating as I'd press the throttle down. After the rpm dropped so much I'd get the power back & it would start screaming up the road (as I had the throttle pushed down signicantly). As it started getting cold I noticed it got worse. I'd lose power after driving up the road a few hundred feet & wouldn't really get it back until the truck warmed up. Some have said it only affected it w/in a certain range but mine did it no matrer what, even if I had it floored. I star…

I've got a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 with 92k miles. I have Afe airbox, Afe Stanless exhaust, Banks intake and big hoss box, and a Fass factory replacement lift pump. I am getting the P0216 error code and am getting the dead throttle. The dead throttle only happens between 45 and 60 mph when the tranny shifts in to overdrive and with easy throttle pressure. If your on the throttle enough to get the truck to 70 or 75 it does not do it. Once it goes dead in will work again once you get the throttle past 83,2 %. The problem also seems to be much worse once the outside air temp is above 70 degrees. I have done a pressure test and the idle pressure is 17 lbs, rolling WOT…

I just had my 98.5 24 valve start acting up with the throttle going dead while driving down the road. The truck just goes to an idle and the foot feed don't do anything. I looked at it while running and the throttle body moves when I press the foot peddle but nothing happens. Then after a couple minutes it just comes back and works normally. The check engine light came on last night but I haven't had it put on a computer to check the code yet. It was low on fuel and after I filled it today the damn check engine light went out. Anyone have any ideas?

First post! Howdy y'all. I have heard good things about these forums. Anyway, my truck (see sig) has some weird issues. It runs great, then all of a sudden it will lose throttle, pedal it a little and it will come back. It is also shifting very erratically. 1st sometimes hangs, 2nd to 3rd normally fine, 3rd to OD and lockup it hunts really bad for both.. Going to check alternator for Ac voltage tomorrow and add/clean grounds and some of the normal things. Anything else I should check or do? Has a brand new Industrial Injection VP and Fass lift pump. When the truck runs, she runs good. Fast, strong, shifts GREAT. Also, no codes thrown! Validated with Snap…

Well on the Suggestion of 98whitelighting, i lurked around searching on here for what my issues may be but to no avail i didn't find a solution to my problem. As of 2 days ago my truck was running just fine, then my CEL came on i went to parts store scanned and came back with P0237 MAP truck ran fine though so i cleared, came back about 6 hrs later cleared again probably coming on because of my XZt+ i had just uploaded a new tune to it. I don't know if this coincides with my issues from today, truck was driving fine this morning went to pick up a load for our job site and on the way back cruising about 35MPH truck just shut off, I checked fuel canister had bout half ca…

Ok here's the scoop, About a couple weeks ago my 98' 24 valve started stumbling and cutting out, now today she just up and died. It was as if I reached down and turned the key off. Brought it to a garage and he pulled up the following codes: P1688, P0237, P1693, & P1388. I have no clue what's goin on with it, getting married in 18 days and didn't need this :ahhh:Any ideas??Lucky

Well after all the nice things I have done for my truck it died today. It has cut off on me maybe 6 times at idle over the past 3 weeks but always started right back and kept going. I gues she paying me back for ignoring her. My scan gauge said there were no codes. I did the key trick and got a P 1694 code. I hooked up a snap on solust to her and it read no codes. Thanks to @Haggar for that and I am going to bring back to you. I tried to connect with the PCM and it wont connect, then the ecm with the same results. Checked the codes again and nothing, no connection. Even reconnected the scan gauge and now it will not connect. I ruled out the lift pump by hot wiring it…
