Alright you have the normal road noise ( tires on the pavement )the last week or so I have what I can only describe as the same road noise but it is just louder. It sounds like it is coming from the front center of the truck As you accelerate it gets louder. I finally got the boat out for the first time this year and pulled it to the lake. The ramp is unbelievably steep so I just put it in 4wd to drive up the hill. As I am going up the hill I hear what I think is the safety chain bouncing up and hitting the frame of the trailer. I go fishing and then put the boat back on the trailer put it in 4wd and start to hear the clanging again Get up to the top of ramp and realize i…

What size is the banjo bolt on the supply line at IP on a 1998.5 24v? I know I can take it off and measure, but I want to get a push lock banjo bolt for 1/2" lines and they show 2 different sizes.

A few questions about bleeding air from fuel lines. After changing IP, and cracking 1,3, & 4 injector, should the fuel be dribbling out and a few air bubbles, or should it be a steady stream of fuel before tightening injectors.Another question - after tightening injectors and starting engine, should there be air in the fuel pressure gauge line

My tubo sounds differant than it did before, and I was wondering how to check it. I did visual checks and pulled the intake tube off. There is a small amount of play in the shaft but I don't know what the specs are. I still have good power and boost but EGT's may be up a little (200 more maybe).

I noticed while looking under my hood that I have a small leak around the oil filter head where it attaches to the block. The oil cooler is here and I am wondering if this is a problem with the cooler gasket. Is this something I should address imediately or is it something I can wait on for a few thousand miles until I get home? I really dont want to deal with water in the oil, but dont really have every thing I need here in Iowa.

I have an old fuel pressure gauge, and now replacing it. The existing line connects in the fuel canister with nylon tubing. What is the best way and location to connect new electric gauge sending unit? I was going to try the old location, but not sure if that is the proper location. Read several posts that say on the supply banjo bolt of the VP, and some say as far away from it as possible.I have 98.5 24v, new reman VP, AirDog Raptor 100 LP, and stock fuel lines from canister to VP, 1/2" from tank to canister.Any help will be appreciated, and images would as wellThanks

Omg the starter is super easy to remove rebuild and install!!! i removed the filter assembly for easy access to the top bolt but after i loosened it from underneath.as typical the battery side was burnt away and replacement of them was simple. i took the end off the motor to inspect the brushes and commutator and the look new but used, plenty of life on them!!

Got my rad out and flushing the system and a new thermo. The hoses dont look to be bad but since I there....... What is a good brand of hoses? I dont like autozone anything. So far Napa has been the better place but they are $$ in my town, but will go there for quailty if needed. Does anyone make silicone hoses for our trucks? --- Update to the previous post... 10. Just installed dragon flow 275hp injectors and custom built turbo. Truck runs the same! I tried to run a quad adr last summer did the same thing! no more power no smoke nothing. No codes either. A smarty will make some more power and little smoke before it builds boost. Anyone have any idea what my issue is?! I have owned this truck for 2 years and put 15k miles on it its got 136 now. It runs drives and never skips a beat BUT will not make any more power is this thing cursed or something?

Okay guys, I been looking online and off to find something to address my crank seal problem. I have not tore into the truck yet to see whats going on. But I would rather get equipped with the necessary parts just in case. Nothing worse than opening things up and taking the time to do it and by the time you realize you need something, the stores are closed! So, I have been looking into the repair sleeve that goes onto the crank. It goes by the common name of speedy(i) sleeve.I found that cummins makes one to address this problem. I also found that O'reilly's makes a kit to address this as well. The cummins one on puredieselpower is like $114. I can't find it now, but I saw b…

I know that a sucker is born every minute. Ran into a old gent today while filling up. He was driving a F350 and told me he had been putting 1 Old Fashion Moth Ball per 3 gal of fuel since he had 8k miles on his truck. The truck now has 110k miles on it with no problems. Claimed he increased his mpg by 2-3 mpg's. I did some research online and found more negative than positive comments. I did find a formula of 1 ball per 4 gals. Is anyone doing this with a Dodge Diesel ???

In the past 2 weeks I had experience a sudden jump on the rpms on idle and or low speed (5 mph) I can see rpm meter jumping from 750 rmps to 1000 rpms and at same time I can hear motor increasing rpms or truck pulling when I have it on drive; in both cases I turn off engine and start again and symptom is gone. Any ideas..

I set my valves over a year ago and have been fighting a little puff of white smoke for the last few months. I just put in another set of injectors and still the same. Well looking at my hayes manual it says set the exhaust at .20 inch and intake at .10 inch. I have always used a small feeler gauge I used on my motorcycles and everyone of my exhaust is set to 20mm and intake at 10mm, which is like .004 inch and .008 inches. its a wonder I havent destroyed my engine and several others.:banghead: --- Update to the previous post... Ok, got them all set to 19 and 08. It fired up and ran as it should and im gonna check in the morning for the puff of white smoke. When…

  19. well, I've wanted a manual since day one, but the price tag on the truck I got with an auto was hard to pass up....now that my 47re is giving me grief, I'm debating a manual conversion, but I dont really want to dump a bunch of cash into a conversion with an nv4500 or 6500, the 47re can be beefed up to out preform either of the manuals for our trucks, but getting a built auto will put me at about the same price as a manual conversion.....so why not put a tougher manual in it!?!? I did a bit of lookin and can get ahold of a eaton fuller rto 6610 pretty cheap! I'll have to throw some taller gears under it so I can get some speed and fuel economy out of it, and probly have …

I have a 1998.5 5.9 24 valve dodge 2500 diesel. Recently had the transfer pump replaced then right after it started having a bad/missing idle in park but only when truck is warmed up. I replaced O rings between transfer pump and oil filter housing, changed fuel filter and cleaned air filter. Any suggestions on the bad idle?
