Hey I just had to replace my Fass pump and it is located under the drivers side cab corner where they recommend and it has been there for 3 to 4 years and man the thing gets abused there! It was a pain because my wonderful state knows how to use salt on their roads "RUSTY" So was wondering if anyone has made some sort of splash gaurd to protect the pump better against road spray, thanks:thumbup2:

  2. Well guys a couple of weeks ago I posted that I was having problems blowing the 30 amp fuse on my Fass pump. Well I got alot of good feedback on things to try but I put in a 30 circut breaker and had no more problems untill today:doh: Went into a store and left truck running and when I came out my fuel pressure alarm was on 0 psi:banghead: So after talking with Fass tech support I removed the pump and put straight 12v to it and nothing also noticed one of the wires going into the pump was melted off:shrug: So call Fass back and ordered my replacement pump so now I am dowm my only rig for a couple days:cry: So lesson learned get to the bottom of the problem just don't patc…

  3. Help! I am getting a dead pedal every 20 minutes or so during driving on a 2002 Cummins only when the outside temps are above 70 degrees and the truck is really hot. When the outside temp is below 70 degrees the truck runs fine. I've reset the APPS just like I've read on this forum and I've cleaned the sensors. I am not getting in check engine lights at all. Thanks in advance for any help!

i was under the impression that the 01 and 02 have camshft positioning sensors and the 98.5 thru 00 have crankshaft positioning sensors. are there any years that have both?

So, the insurance company totalled my truck although the visual damege doesn't justify it. I currently plan to buy it back and fix it. I'm looking for an engine. The block (53) is cracked and I think this is a good time to replace it. So, I'm looking for suggestions and sources for a used or rebuilt motor. Or should I go with a new short block? I don't know how much they're going to offer me yet but want to explore my options before then. Thanks

i'm looking for answers as to how to eliminate my torque management system on my 01.w/no mods in stock form i could do a brake torque w/ my truck but no matter what kind of power i'v added over the 7 years had it i can not do so.you can see from sig i'v up graded much of the fueling system but to no aval.i want to do some drag racing(for fun nothing too serious)but the truck bogs out of the hole until i hit about 25 mph then it'll go pretty good.on damp or wet roads no issue so i think there some kind of senor that fells road resistance & limits power offthe line.i had a fooler box from BD Diesel that eliminated it but shut down the tach, oil,&water temp gauges.i d…

  7. Hey guys I have to put a vp44 in a friends truck this weekend and he was wondering about a pressure gauge or a light? I told him that a gauge works great but if you are not always looking at it it does you no good, so he dicided on a light. So my question is has anyone made one up themself or do you just buy one from someone? Thanks:thumbup2:

  8. I have a friend that's looking at an 01 dodge cummins and he's asking me some questions. Now he says it has a fuel leak on the vp44 behing the inspection cover. I think he means the cover that has the tamper proof screws holding it. Is this a concern or can he just change a gasket or seal and not worry about it? It also has a cracked exhaust manifold so I suppose that means it's been run too hot. Any concerns there?

I need some experienced advice from you guys who live in weather that often gets snow/ice . I just had a new vp in and I installed a raptor 100 running around 18 ish psi....my truck is a 2wd...before I start getting too crazy with my effort to make the truck as reliable as possible and efficient I want to make sure that 2wd will not disappoint me in the long run... I have been off roading for 20 years, but not with such a long truck without 4wd...I am itching for a stick shift... I don't care about power as I care about reliability so the raptor is the only aftermarket part on the truck that would be considered a performance mod... I consider it a necessary to keep fuel s…

I learned a valuable lesson this pat week and thought I'd share it in case there are others who don't know this. While I was hunting last week I noticed that my truck was slow to start. It sounded like dead battery. It got worse to the point where I had to have it jumped. It then got so bad that even jumping it with another diesel (two known good batteries) wouldn't turn it over any faster. After calling Mike from Arizona where I live, and also talking to a couple other guys, I was directed toward the starter and the starter cable. I removed the starter and went to an O'Rielly's to have it tested. On their machine it tested good. So, I went back to camp (50+ miles…

Came back from sledding today, parked truck outside for a bit while i tinkered on sleds in the garage. About an hour went by needed to run too town statred the ole girl up backed trailer up and unhooked. Truck sat idleing for 10 min while i did a couple of things hopped back in and had a check engine light, so i stopped by oreilys and had them plug in and at first we had p1693, didnt know what that was so i wrote it down and then cleared. Then i got p1693 and p0382. Cleared code and left and came home and started reading up. Started truck 3 times since then, no cel and grid heaters seem to cycle normally. Should i chalk it up to a fluke isolated incident or should i dig de…

I started hearing a louder clatter in my eng about two weeks ago and just blew it off as colder temps in the morning. Well it blew smoke at ambient temp of 65 and when I accellerated it smoked blue a little heavy so went to shop and disconected Edge Ez and no more clatter and no more smoke. What the heck is up with that? Also my boost elbow is still hooked up, I have not thrown any codes yet, should I leave it hooked up or is it defeating it's purpose? The last time I left it hooked up it kept throwing codes.

I have been getting a 0234 code since I bought my truck (in July) and realized that the wastegate was stuck closed, and finally decided to fix it. This is supposed to be a pretty straight forward job. Pull the turbo, free the wastegate and reinstall.Mr. Murphy arrived to help me and I learned about his little law. So, I pulled the turbo and the started working on the wastegate with heat, PB Blaster, and a baby ball peen hammer. I patiently tapped heated and squirted for an hour. Then I think, call Mike Nelson for advice. So Mike advised me to remove the back plate (don't know what it's called) that what-cha-ma-call-it that hooks the turbo to the exhaust, so I can acc…
