2nd Generation Dodge 24 Valve Powertrain

Well I now have my first new Dodge 2500 extended cab. 2001 3/4 ton 4X4 5.9 HO HD-6 speed with 100K on a factory rebuild and a total of 183K on the truck. Paid $3500.00 for it but it was rolled over and messed up the cab, fenders and sides of the bed!!! No damage to the frame, engine, grill, radiator and complete drive train. Seats are perfect no cracks on the dash (it was covered from new) and all the lights and tail gate are nice! No way to fix the cab it messed up the door tops and folded the windsheild posts down some. Funny part is the back door windows and slider are OK?? Now saying all this is it even smart to think of changing the cab, hood, fenders and bed on this…

Hi guys I'm back from a nice summer vacation and also with a new to me truck. Living in the mountains I decided a four wheel drive should make life a bit easier than having to chain up my dually everytime I wanted to drive it somewhere. Anyways the new truck is in my signature line. I have lots of TLC and maintenance to do but wanted to start with the fuel psi first. The truck already has a Fass 150 installed. The edge monitor is showing psi of 12 and WOT it drops to 6-7 psi. I know there is a spring on the return side that can be stretched but I would honestly rather install one that was made for the purpose I'm after. installed my dual disc and upgraded hydraulics but the engagement is way at the top of the pedal swingsouthbend told me that the slave cylinder is pushing too far and i need to take it back off and cut about 1/2in off of the rod...has anyone else had to do this? kind of nervous i dont want to cut too muchits annoying and tough to get used to the clutch pedal having to come just about all the way out before i start moving

Thanks for the diagram on the lift pump kill relay for the hot hard start Michael! That's just what I was looking for! I'm assuming you're just using a normal, 12 volt relay? -Pin 85 on the relay you're just tapping into the starter solenoid wire?-Pin 86 on the relay is just to ground?-Pin 30 on the relay is the positive wire that would be going into the stock plug on the stock lift pump if I was using the stock pump?

Well my limited slip Posi trac has just about shot its last Wod...has been week for some time..last winter i noticed i was getting 0 assistance from the other wheel. Comming home THE OTHER NITE FROM WESTERN KY. IT STARTED ACTING WEARD.. IM THINKING OF REPLACING IT WITH A "EATON/DETROIT TRUCE TRAC....IS ANYONE RUNNING ONE OF THESE...NEED MORE INFO:shrug:Richie

My brides 2001 2500 needs ball joints her 38" tires have destroyed her stock ones. I know the tires are wee big and the 7 inch lift doesn't help. We are ordering moog ball joints tonight and I'm wondering if any one has part #s for them. We see a lot of different part #s and want to make sure we are golden. It is a cummins and is a Dana 60 I am assuming.Any beter than moog? Thanks in advance guys :)Lance.....

hello guys here is a question . anyone know if there is a way to identify a unknown 24 valve injector ? i have a 2002 dodge diesel as a insurance write off that i have been using for parts for my 2001 dodge diesel . the 2002 had a 4 inch exhaust , a hx40 / hx35 turbo ( hx35 exhaust side ) , a aftermarket airfilter ( i think it is a "afc" ) , some sort of "tuner box" ( it is missing , but the vp44 does have the top cover replaced with one with a "wiretap " ) ...... there was also a boost guage and a egt guage in the truck . ...... there is also a " PDR Diesel " emblem on the tailgate .... VP-44 Key Picture On my wifes truck I wanted to verifiy the key was... 1. In 2. The arrow pointed the right way 3. That the number matched the number on the pump I was able to use a 4MP Cannon camera on the closeup setting to capture this picture so we didnt have to use a mirror or scope. If you didn't know... the arrow points towards the pump. the number on the key matches the number stamped on the pump. You can't use another number key

i have a friend with an 01 5 speed. his lift pump will not cut off when you turn off the ignition. he has even diisconnected the driverside battery and it stopped, but when reconnected it comes back on. any ideas?

Hey, anyone have an opinion on a good "all round" chip for my 02 Ram? I don't want a tuner or the ability to adjust on the fly or anything like that, I just want good fuel milage and maybe a bit more torque and HP if that is a by product. There seems to be so many and prices are all over the place with them. I have been kind of looking at the Quadzilla Max Mileage. Anyone had any expierience with that particular product? I know there are plenty of different manufacturers but I like the USB update feature.

Has the following symptoms [*]Sometimes you get in and turn key and it will turn over and over and never hits a lick, but if you turn key off and try again it cranks right up. Good Morning Everybody,About 4 days ago i was driving and got a check engine light, did the 3 key on procedure and found code P1693 then the check engine light was gone, went to mechanic hooked obdII scanner and found no codes. Driving back home when i got to a stop sign i exprerienced "dead pedal" and got check engine light again, and drove home at idle speed and sometimes after a few blocks it came back to normal. Truck will not start, fuel pressure @ 4-7 psi, flow after 30sec. app 8 oz. This will be the fourth pump. [*] :banghead: The last two were the "campaign" pump. I've read the thread "fuel pump issues" but the last post to it was March of 09. What is a good pump that will give me 17 psi, last for more than 50k miles, and not brake the bank?

Okay so my truck has done this a few times. I hit the key and all I get is a click. Just one "click" and no start. It did it the other day and I was able to get it to jump start it with my girl's car. I tested the batteries and they test out fine. I decided to drop the starter and see if I could tell anything but I don't know really what to look for. I replaced the plunger and contacts a while back (maybe a year) and they don't look bad from what I can tell. What I'm looking for is ideas please!

when i got home this evening i smelled a slight wiff of diesel. looked up under the truck and saw some fuel on the underside of the intake. it appears that i have some fuel weeping out of the injector lines where the connect to the head.it seems to be runnig to the back of the intake and down. over the years i have had to crack them open on occasions. are there not some o rings or some other form of seal that might need to be replaced at these connnections?

The "Wait to start" indicator on the dash does not come on and the beast is hard to start first time. (The coldest it ever gets here is maybe 60 F at night). Apparently no intake heat happening. This just started happening after a mechanic had it to fix the power steering. Don't see any loose wires in the area. Any suggestions?

I know from looking over the net, and exploring the site this could be many things, but I really need help with this. My 2001 Dodge 2500 starts perfectly when cold. The truck is hard to start AFTER it is brought up to normal operating temperature and attempt to restart after shutdown. It cranks for a bit, finally turns over, and then blows a bit of black smoke and runs perfectly.It does have the relay installed that shuts off power to the VP44 while cranking (this fixed the hard starting I experienced before). My friend who is helping me with my vp44 install. Has the same truck as me (see sig). His truck has been clicking when he would turn the key click click click. He would just turn it off and it would then start. It got to the point where it was annoying and he first switched the fuel relay over to the starter relay to see if that would make a difference and it still clicked. ( I am not sure if they are even the same relays) ? So he decided to put a new starter in tonite. Well now it just clicks once and it will not start. If you hot wire it from the batt to the starter it starts right up. Any thoughts or Ideas we can try when he comes over tomorrow. Would really like to tr…
