Hello! I need some help. I had a bad oil leak on my 2001 Dodge Ram 3500. I've changed the pushrod cover gasket and put everything back as it was. After that, as I was little to lazy to start it proper way with bleeding injector lines ... I just used ether. Vehicle started and I thought, it was ok ... and it is while it's idling. Problem starts when press the gas. Huge white smoke is comming out of the pipe. Seams to me, like it smells like a diesel ... so all I can think of ... timing got screwed up. Anybody has any idea how to set the timing in VP44? I just put back everything as it was ... but there was no smoke before the procedure. Thanks

I am planning on getting a blank new ECM from Chrysler, as I can get it for wholesale, a mere $1003.00 before tax. :spend:FYI all, the ECM listed on RockAuto is not the Cummins ECM, its the Powertrain Control Module (PCM), thankfully RockAuto takes returns. :smart:Then, if the ECM install goes well, I am getting a set of the Bosch RV 275 injectors. Then, if the truck runs well, I am going to put my edge back on.Then, I am going to fix the control arms. Then, ... it never ends does it. :lmao:Has anybody installed an ECM before? Anybody have issues that I could be facing? I am planning on buying it new, supposedly "blank" and having a mechanic friend of mine with a curre…

I installed my old 50hp injectors that came out of my old motor, they only had about 10k on them. Anyway something was not right, you could thighten them a little and it would change the way the motor ran, loosen them and it would go back. So I decided to clean up my old original (200k) injectors, that was a hilarious event, first I lost a shim, looked for about a hour and nothing, gave up and decided to swep up the floor and bingo found it. So I get back to the job at hand and now I forgot which one it went in so I just guessed. Decided I better go have them tested, and wow I got it right But they came back and said they are all weak. I am pissed now, I aint paying th…

I am told by a Dodge mechanic that the control arms will fit. Anybody try this? Does anybody know if the front springs will fit? Perhaps level out the truck without a levelling kit?

Hey Guys, First post! I recently picked up an 02' Ram (in my signature) with the HO 245HP cummins and 6spd, it's got 100hp injectors and a 4" exhaust and no chip/tuner This last weekend, I went for a 250mile drive, and all seemed to be well and got back home sunday morning.Sunday afternoon, I was heading out for a drive and noticed some white smoke at idle, when warming up AND while warm while at idle. While under ACCELERATION/LOAD the truck will now put out more black smoke than usual. The truck was idling fine and nothing seemed out of sorts. Figured I'd pull a code so I quickly pulled over and checked and got P0234. I contacted the folks at BD diesel (they are local-i…

Hi everybody. I am new here, and I have an interesting problem. Thanks in advance. 2000 5.9, 5sp, 4x4. 210,000mi. New injector pump from Midwest EFI, new Air Dog 100 lift pump. Otherwise stock. After sitting for a few days, it will take 5-10 sec crank time to start, but once it starts it runs normally. Tech is steady and normal. Not much smoke except at RPM near redline. When the truck is warm, if you let it idle, it will miss slightly. Power sucks over 2000 rpm, but isn't bad overall. Throws PO234 overboost code, but I feel that is due to the fact that I left my Edge boost elbow on the turbo. Edge juice CTS won't connect to the…

I have a 99 3500 mostly stock and im not to sure what this noise is or why its this loud when i turn the key on. It seems like something with the lift pump but it stays on for awhile and is very noticable in the cab then turns off. The trucks start fine and i have a crappy electric fuel pressure gauge and when it makes that noise its at atleast 25# and then i start it and it stays right around 24-25#. I have a few videos showing the noise and the gauge but none of the noise right when i turn the key forward without bumping. It sometimes comes on for a few seconds but lately has been coming on for the full 20- 25 second cycle without bumping the starter. Can you tell me if…

Hi, just experienced the fifth gear problem yesterday, i was hauling my trailer, when all of the sudden i hear a noise and vibration from the transmission. After that my fifth gear will not work any more, luckily made back in fourth. Today we drop the transmission to see what was the problem, and i find that the nut on the mainshaft came loose and my fifth gear and mainshaft gear were gone. I've been searching on the internet and found out this is a typical problem for the NV4500 transmission. Just ordered the gears and need to order the nut also. Having a hard time picking a design that works, would appreciate any input or experience on the parts i need to fix my tr…

For my truck in the signature. No codes. Batteries clean. 13.8 to 13.9 volts. Tranny flush 20k ago. Fluid is red and no burnt smell to it. We used the truck to flatbed my sons' 06 Dodge home the other day. The trans temp light came on as he was coming up our hill. Now for the symptom: in 3rd gear it sometimes will not kick into 3rd gear. It will shift from 1st to 2nd. Tranny works in R, 1, and 2 positions. Any suggestions?

Hey guys,I'm new on here but I have a question that I haven't been able to find a good answer for. When I first crank my truck it is hard to start whether hot or cold. When it does crank it idles fine. After driving maybe 5-10 miles and stopping at a red light the idle becomes real choppy. If I shut it off, it will fire up normally and idle just fine, but 5-10 miles down the road the same thing happens again. I have a fuel pressure gauge and for some reason when I was pulling a load it jumped around and then stuck maxed out. Every now and then it will jump around but I never get a normal reading like I did when I first put it on. I do not have a snubber or needle valve on…

I can punch the gas on the highway, tranny goes thru its automatic gear shifts, than if i try to accelerate above 70, nothing. --- Update to the previous post... please read other thread!

I recently replaced my VP44 and installed an Airdog 150. I started with the bigger spring because I wanted more than 15 psi, but I was getting 20 - 21. I changed the spring and now I have 19-20 psi. This seems a little high to me. Any suggestions on adjusting it? Also the only port for the gauge is on the pump. Is this ok? Before is was on the vp44 fitting.

Just returned from our first camping trip of the year... first tow with the Quadzilla XZT+ (2000 tune). I don’t know if the XZT has any effect on the engine temperature. I am used to to running (empty) right on the thermostat, a needle width below the center mark (200 degrees). Towing, I previously ran about a needle width above that center mark. I saw the temp climb to 2 needle widths above on grades... but came down coasting / light throttle on the other side. So we arrived at the parking field, shifted to 4 high & were directed to the best spot. They wanted me to circle outside & “drive through” next to another vehicle which I did... but I could …

Hey fellas I'm back, but I have a problem! When I'm driving down the road, I'm getting a real hard sucking air sound from the intake side! I'm running now psi on boost, but the turbo sounds like it is really spooling! All boots seem to be intact, although there is one that I am kind of worried about!
