My truck a 2002 hd 2500 5 speed, threw the following codes today P PCU 1693, then P ECU 1689.Truck has been running great for 140000+ miles, I replaced the lift pump awhile back with flowmax from bd. It ran fine after the replacement no codes, and fixed the problem of the engine surging, when I first engage the clutch, had to fuel the engine up a little, even in first, but more present in 2nd. So i was thinking the stock lift pump was weak.I just added a Bully Dog Outlook with PE to the truck. After this I noticed the surging came back (when on a power level other than stock) especially when the engine cold, have to fuel engine up a little when engaging the clutch, or sur…

Now I have problems with my 4X4. I was driving in some deep snow and there was this small clunk and no more 4x4:banghead: Shifter works fine and there's no visable problems. Any suggestions what might have happened or where to look first?

I've got a buddy that bought a truck that has a FASS 150 fuel pump and he's trying to find new filters for it. Anybody know of a place in Canada where he could get them? Lots of options south of the 49th but I can't seem to find anything up here.

My truck has a 151,000 miles on it. I have been using synthetic oil for more than a decade in a number of other vehicles. I have noticed that on some of the vehicles that had more than say 50,000 miles on them, that a few of them developed oil leaks after switching to synthetic. When I switched back to petroleum based oil, all but one of them stopped leaking. My question is: Has anyone developed oil leaks once they switched to synthetic oil on a 2nd. gen. Dodge/Cummins that had say 50,000 or so more miles on it ? Thanks...Hood Latch

  7. Guys, I just dug out my old scantool that comes loaded with domestic vehicles to 1999, just a year shy of my new to me 2000 2500 4x4 diesel. I am sure if I goto OTC they will say I need to buy the update software, but I think it ought to work don't you? Either that or does anyone out there have an update they want to sell for cheap?

  10. I am pretty close to buying my first dodge diesel pickup, and I found a 2000 2500 club cab 6 speed camper special sport 4x4 for 9600. It is a 1 owner truck very well maintained with 166,000. The owner used it to pull a 5th wheel occasionally and here is the kicker....it has a 53 block. As of this moment there are no cracks or coolant leaks. What do you think? It is a really nice truck, but this and the typical vp44 issues give me pause before I pull the trigger. The other truck I am looking at is a 98 12v with 142000 for $9500. only problem with that is it has an auto transmission, which I feel would probably be more trouble than a manual. I like the idea of a 12v mostly…

Seems that Fass feeds too much pressure and the VP44 does not like it. The pump is controlled through a relay tied into the stock pump to supply pilot voltage to the relay coil, I guess just that split second that it puts pressure to the pump is enough to screw it up. If I wait, for the pressure to drop, it will start OK. I was thinking of putting a time delay relay on the pump? http://www.primelec.com/Electronic-Components/Relays/AGASTAT-12-Volt-On-Delay-p7886012.html

So I bought all new electronics for the vb and a new boost valve spring retainer to have all the parts when I dropped vb! So I dropped the vb today The spring retainer wasn't broken but replaced with hd unit anyways! replaced all the electronics. and cleaned(not dirty at all) But the big FU is when I was lowering the vb two pieces fell off the top off it onto my head! http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t283/74toyotafj/brokenband2.jpg http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t283/74toyotafj/brokenband1.jpg They look li…

I wired up my high idle fooler according to moparman's diagram. With the IAT harness hooked back onto the sensor and just the coolant temp fooler on, the engine will still hit the 3 cylinder mode and the temp outside is around 34 degrees F. If I understand the system right this shouldn't be happening at temps this warm. Can somebody give me some ideas?

  17. Hello All,I currently own a really nice 2004 F150 which I plan to sell to my brother and purchase a 2000 Dodge 2500 4x4 camper special Club Cab LB 6speed sport with 166000 miles 1 owner truck. It just had a new lift pump installed due to a recall that had not been done as well as several other items ...Brakes, vacuum harness for transfer case, tires batteries I forget the rest..Could you all give me a few ideas what I need to look out for as I am taking this out for a test drive and beyond? I am pretty sure I am going to purchase it if it everything the seller claims. Thanks for your input,Chris

Just wanted to show my cheap winter front <$20 1. Thin sheet of sheet metal from Home Depot for $9 (got the one in the ducting department which had cardboard around it (which I used for the template) 2. Duct Tape 3. 2-sided carpet tape Used duct tape on the grill front to provide a good base for the 2-sided carpet tape (by the way, the duct tape by itself probably provides enough barrier, but doesn't look as good). Cut out the sheet metal using some cardboard for a template. Trimmed best I could to fit the openings with the sheet metal shears. Put the 2 sided carpet tape on the back, peeled it and stuck it on. Don't know yet how it will bear in the elemen…

I was just wondering if anybody has taken the box off of one of the newer style Dodge Pickups 94 and up? When I was installing propane and natural gas systems and the tanks on vehicles many years ago we found it alot easier to install the fuel systems with the box off. I didn't do a newer style Dodge at that time. At that time 4 guys would pick it up and another would push the truck forward and put two saw horses under the box where we would set it down. I need to do the sending unit and new fuel lift pump system so that is why I was wondering how easy these boxes come off. It's so much easier to work standing up.
