Yesterday afternoon I read every post about Cruise Control on this forum. There was only one personHEAVY DUTY aka Delano Watts, that had the same problem as I have. There was never a conclusion or remedy to solve his problem, his thread just went dead. I am telling this story so everyone knows that I honestly tried to solve this by myself using information supplied by members. With this said I will submit my problem and hope to find a remedy. My cruise control has never worked sence I have owned this truck. When I press the CC button on the steering wheel the green lite, lites up as It should. The vacuum required to operate the HVAC heater/defroster works as It should. I h…

Anyone know if it's just the screws that leak? I changed out all the little plastic washers under the screw heads using neoprene washers from pole barn metal screws. Seems to gasket pretty well but, wondering if the leak comes from the lens base instead. I was afraid to pull them up since they are stuck on. Might tear the gasket underneath. Tell me where the leak comes from :ashamed:TIA.

So I got a call from my buddy who is doing all the frame and body work on my truck. He called me yesterday and told me that for some reason my truck doesn't have any power steering. In the accident I snapped the shaft off at the pitman arm so the box is brand new. The power steering pump/ vaccum pump is still original. My friend said he thinks I may have damaged the pump in the accident or the vaccum pump. He said he put fluid in the truck but its not moving any of it through the lines.any ideas as to what this could be? I ordered a new power steering pump and I was looking around for a vaccum pump but never found one. I see a lot of people selling rebuild kits. Is this a…

So, my driver's side headlight is ok. well, as good as expected from the non-sport housings.. My passenger's side headlight, however, is PERFECT... ... for coon hunting, or anything else that is NOT on the road in front of you. It shines light everywhere but on the street.. It's not a dull lens, it's not out of alignment (per little headlight aligner dooka-ma-hitchie at the service joint.. It just refracts light, completely oblivious to anything resembling 'focused'. I'm gonna go out on a limb, and try swapping bulbs left/right to see if that does anything (doubtful) but it totally sucks to drive in the dark hours.. I'll try to get a pict…

So recently I had an incident in my truck during hurricane sandy.....and need less to say I hurt my truck:cry:. And now I'm in the rebuilding process and have run into some issues. Basically my steering knuckle is bad. I was searching around and one of my buddy's has a parts truck that is the same as mine, ( 2wd standard cab 2500) but its a gasser. Will the knuckle still work on my truck????

Hi all. So I just completed a 4 switch and resistor build for high idle and combined winter mpg fooler but I had a question as to the resistance on that.I'm using a 2.2k ohm resistor to get a reading of 143*F through the IAT. Obviously I want the highest reading I can get and still save the advanced timing from my edge comp. What got me thinking is even in the summer I never saw a reading quite that high, I saw 130's plenty of times but never more than that. Is 143 too high and the vp is going to retard timing to prevent problems that it thinks are coming therefore taking away the gains I am trying to get here. I'm having a really hard time being able to tell if I'm actua…

I plan on doing something in the spring with my truck to keep the rear from sagging when I tow my gooseneck but i'm undecided to do springs or airbags. I was wondering if anyone on here using airbags has the plastic inner fenders in the wheelwells of their box. I don't want to buy a set to find out I can't use the inner fenders liner.

So on my old 96, it was a base model with AC only. I bought a CC servo, clock spring, and switch assembly from a JY, threw it in, and presto-whammo! CRUISE CONTROL! :)My 97 had cruise apparently (SLT), but the servo was missing..So I bought a servo, installed it, and wham.. wait.. nope, CC doesn't work..I've studied the wiring diagram, but as usual, nothing at the PCM matches..THere's a yellow/red wire at the brake switch and cc controller. neither gets power. judging by the wiring diagrams, there are wires not where they 'say' they should be at the PCM, but it's really hard for me to decipher, for some reason..Any suggestions or anything you guys may have encoun…

Just a quick question on these, as this will be the first time I've ever had an electronic FP gauge as opposed to mechanical. The setup on the truck was originally designed with an autometer electronic FP gauge, with the sending unit tapped into the 90 elbow feeding into the P7100 Pump. With this being an electronic FP gauge, how critical is running either a snubber/needle valve/isolator inline with this system? I know in the past, they still recommended it, as the pulses would still beat the sending unit and cause it to either fail rapidly, or at least create a pulsating reading, so I was wondering if the newer electronic gauges were the same? I'm not a huge fan of e…

Ok, I've done some searching and can't really find what Im looking for. My Blinkers started to malfunction on me lately and at first it was intermittent. Sometimes they would work and sometimes they wouldn't. This went on for a day or so and now they just don't work at all. My hazards do though. My lights are good it has something to do with just the turn signal system. Does anyone have a for sure answer as to what could be the issue? I'm definitely electronically challenged. Thanks

Hey guys, with me being in the occupation I'am in at the moment, its possible I will end up having to travel for my work. Been thinking about a 5th wheel for this sort of thing, but I have been having a hard time tracking down any information on this.I had at one point had some info, but I can't remember where I got it. I do understand that towing capacities is not the only number to go off of, but it would still be helpful to get the data I need to make an informed decision if I decide to go ahead and get a 5th wheel.

Hey all,New guy here. Just got the truck in my sig from my dad. One thing it doesn't have is fog lights. I looked around a little behind the bumper but didn't see harness endings where the lights would be. Should they be there? Also, will the plugs for a headlight switch with fog controls be behind the switch? We get lots of fog during the winter in this valley and there are more deer than people, so I'd like to add a little light on my dark commute! Thanks guys!

This might be a dumb question, but when I turn the key on the "Wait To Start" light comes on. Just what is the system doing? What am I waiting on to happen?Since this is my first diesel every once in a while I jump in the truck, put the key in and start it like a gas motor. Am I hurting anything because I am old and forgetful?

My truck has had some electrical issues with door locks and windows since I got it but the latest is weird. I can unlock my doors either with the key fob or the switch and they unlock when I turn the key off..normal; however, they won't lock in any of the mentioned ways (fob, switch, or when key is turned on). Once in a while they'll work so I assume there's a loose connection somewhere. So, before I start tearing apart areas that have nothing to do with it, could someone with experience in this area steer me in the right direction. Thank
