  2. My Sport model has always had this bumper dam, or valance, connected to the bumper and tied to the frame. I dont know why or what purpose it serves other than maybe helping air flow through the radiators... But, I see pictures where some 2nd gens dont have one. :confused013: Do you???

Hey guys, So I have a few questions for those who have experience with the Scangauge 2. I have had mine since Christmas and I really like it, but I'm having a really hard time getting the fuel usage features calibrated. The first issue was I had a Smarty. So I sold that and got an Edge comp, but its still taking FOREVER to get it to be accurate. Its still about 4.5 mpgs high on the average mpgs. I did notice something I think is really odd though. At idle, it is showing some minor fuel usage, between about .06 and .2 gph. It is reading 0 mpgs at idle though so thats good. Heres the even weirder part, I can be cruising along and if I let off the go pedal some, it will…

Any thoughts on chasing down ac leaks. I haven't had very good luck with dye. Are the cheap sniffers any good. I was thinking about a kit with plugs and adaptors that can isolate components and pressurize them kind of expensive though. I changed the evaporator about 10 years ago I hope that's not the problem again.

  7. So to make a long story short.....a long time ago I wrecked my truck and had the frame repaired. For whatever reason I still feel weary about the frame situation because of who did the work. I recently found a guy who has a 2001 dodge dually frame and front axle. I have pictures of it but his front end setup is more or less a solid front axle with no differential and it has coil spring towers on the frame My current pickup a 1997 dodge 2500 single wheel 2wd has the old control arm coil spring setup. My question is is one or the other a better front end ? And if I could score this frame and stuff would all my 97 stuff be able to be swapped to that frame?

Just switched out my power steering fluid. Nothing wrong with the steering but I had some Walmart crap in there and wanted to flush out most of it. I didn't do a complete flush but drained the reservoir several times and replaced it with O'Reilly PSF which is Dodge MS-5931 compatible. Got in the rig this morning and my power steering and brakes were gone. YIKES...did I just lose my PS pump??? I'm thinking not (wouldn't that be a coincidence) so checked the reservoir and found I had way overfilled it. Drained it down to the "Cold" level, started up and in 30 seconds I had my PS and brakes back. I don't know if this a real issue or I had air in the lines or what b…

Hi all, I ran into a problem when I was trying to change my front driver side brake line on my 99 4wd. I went to Napa and got a brake line, but when I was about to take the old one off I noticed where it mounts to the frame there is another line that comes and t's into the brake line I'm trying to replace. It's kind of hard to visualize so I'll try to take a pic. The brake line I bought to replace the bad one didn't have a fitting for the other line. Should I but the line from the dealer? I can't seem to find any parts stores that have what I'm looking for. Thanks

  10. Hi everyone, I was changing out my radiator yesterday and while taking off the lower radiator hose I accidentally, bull in a china shop sorta thing, bent my ac line. Bent it enough to crack it and it started leaking. It is leaking at the elbow right behind the compressor where it turns up to the hood. Is this the line I need to replace it? FOUR SEASONS Part # 56511 From Rockauto I searched the forums and couldn't come up with anything. I just don't want to order the wrong part. Thanks http://www.rockauto.com/getimage/getimage.php?imagekey=818191&imageurl=http%3A//www.rockauto.com/info/FourSeasons/56511.jpg

To make a long story short.. We have replaced both front calipers & hoses on the 99. The pass side brakes, and releases normal. The drivers side is still sticky ?? It does have 4 wheel ABS... I`m not sure of the proper name, but the ABS "valve body"?? seems to be the next thing in line.I`m wondering if anyone else has seen a similar issue:think:

  13. Was looking at my Dana part numbers for upcoming gear change when I noticed my old stock shocks are shot. Wondering if anyone with an 8600 / 8800 lb cap 4x4 extended cab has tried this and if so, are these worth the money? I would really like to hear from someone with the remote control wireless unit.

Hi Everyone,If anyone out there has an end of the run second gen Cummins 12 valve (mine is a 1997) long bed club cab without a camper package, could you please possibly take a minute or two and measure the height of the block on the top of the rear axle? If you have a similar truck and there is no lift block, please let me know! Thanks for the help ahead of time.

My A/C compressor is activated at all of the switch positions of the heater selection switch except the off position. I think that it should only be running in AC or MAX AC and Defrost, maybe I'm wrong here. I thought that I might have a stuck relay and swapped relays but that did not correct this. Anyone have any ideas? Now that it's coming toward fall I would like to have the heater running without the AC working against it.

Hello all. New to the site and thankful for finding a bunch of likeminded people. This is my 5th Cummins it’s a 2002 6spd 2500 longbox 4wd. About to turn over 500,000 kms (Canada). Love it and it does everything I need it to but recently I’ve been noticing what feels like an awful lot of axle wrap while towing. I got to tearing into it yesterday and found a couple loose u bolts but worse is that the factory lift blocks under the leaf packs seem to be walking off the axle perch. It it must have been happening for a bit because both the block and the perch are misformed now. My question is do I buy a new lift block and hope for the bes…

  18. Instead of taking apart the dash or spending the extra time to cut the rubber floor pad and remove those hard to get screws, Is it possible to just cut the housing and make your own access door for servicing this problem with the diverter? It would make it easier for future work as well.A guy could get some black plastic and put that over the hole you cut. Yes? No?:shrug:TIA

Since completing the heater core and evaporator install, I had the AC system recharged at a local shop. The tech told me the low side pressure is 30 psi. In 85° weather, I'm getting 55-60° air from the center vent w max-air and full fan. Quite frankly, I was warm. Before all this, my truck AC would freeze you out! I read the article at http://articles.mopar1973man.com/2nd-generation-24v-dodge-cummins/27-hvac-heating-ventalation-and-air-conditioning/58-recharging-air-conditioning-with-r134a-freon and noticed the performance temperature specs were exactly what I'm now getting. Is it unreasonable to expect my system to be as cold as it used to be? If its not unreasona…
