I bought a set of tow mirrors to replace the stock mirrors on my truck. I got them from Rock Auto. There wasn't an instruction or even a tip for installation in the box that I got. I got them installed but I was left with a few questions about the install. For instance, the new bracket on the driver's side door is in the way of the mirror adjustment switch. I cannot fully install the door panel. Has anyone else ran into this? The panel will fully install with the switch removed, but that does me no good either. One of the three nuts holding the mirror in place hits the switch. There has to be something that I can do. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I had the condenser replaced a couple of years ago. It's been stuck on defrost for a while... but that's a separate problem. I can't afford to pay someone to do the work... over & over. What a piece of Cr*p! Temps in high 80s today... I got a little cool when it wasn't working hard, dies out when I need it. (Same as before).

About to ditch the Glowshift from the previous owner for a ISSPRO mechanical and have a question. When I'm plumbing the new gauge do I just leave the line after the needle valve full of air, or do I need to bleed it somehow so it fills with diesel?

What's the biggest size tire I can put on a 16" rim?Right now I'm running 265/75/16s but am thinking of either 275s or 285s, will they work or hit the wheel well or anything else? All is stock on m truck, no lift kits or anything like that. Thanks in advance.I think I should have put this in non-powertrain - apologies.

  9. After seeing how thin my front pads were the other day I figured I would redo my front brakes. Got new rotors and pads even figured i would replace the soft lines. Get in there and cant ca-lapse the pistons on the first caliper. Got around that and figure I need to just do a rebuild on them. I am ok with that but while spinning the hub on the right front I hear a clicking noise and start looking closer and see the u joint moving. It appears that at least one of the cups has no bearings left in it. Figuring the left probably is no better or close to being gone I get to do both sides now. The thing that kills me the most is that while I am in that deep you might as well do …

The steering box in my truck has quite a bit of play even after I adjusted it. It has annoyed me long enough:banghead:. Time to replace it with something better I think its an autozone special that the guy before me put on. I'm thinking about a Borgeson new box or a rebuilt one from Red Head steering. Any input from anybody out there that has used either would be greatly appreciated.

I read somewhere that fuel pressure has to be 7-9 p.s.i. for the engine to start and higher pressures will cause a hard start condition. I also read the ECM controls this by rapid on/off pulses in the circuit to slow the lift pump pressure down for easy starts. After the engine is running the ECM knows to keep a steady voltage to power the lift pump or in our case, to trigger the relay used to power the lift pump off the battery. If this is true shouldn't we be changing the lift pump relays more often, often enough to keep the contacts in new condition? As I understand it, the constant use of a relay has a greater chance of poorly connecting, burned contacts f…

I think I’ll paint my valve cover while it’s off for the head studs install. I don’t really care about the looks too much, but if it’s easy enough I was thinking of using the same color of the truck which is patriot blue pearl. I can’t find that exact color in high temp. Will regular Dupli Color Exact Match spray paint work if I use a high temp primer and high temp clear coat? I’ll probably sand blast it to clean up the flaky oem paint.

Discovered black particles/flakes in my fuel tank. I assume this is from BIO fuel. Wiped what I could reach out of tank as well as residual diesel. Would like to wash it out in effort to reach crevices etc. Any suggestion on a cleaner I might use? Thanks. Leaky

Has Anyone ever had their radio short out?I know there has to be a short somewhere. One day as I was listening to the radio I parked and shut off the truck to do some errands. When I started the truck up again I didn't notice that the radio didn't go back on until I was almost back at home. After a few weeks of not having anything to listen to, I noticed after I started the truck up to go somewhere the radio went back on!I search all my fuses and even changed them out and look for any shorts. I even removed the bezel front from the dash and couldn't find a thing.Right now I am dead in the water.Does anyone have any thoughts of anything I may have over looked?ThanksSteve

Today I decided in spite of the existing truck bed cross member above the fuel module, I cut the opening for a access hatch or lid, whatever you call it.I knew I was taking a risk in weakening the bed but, If I just cut the surface out first I knew I would then be committed:cookoo: Committed to getting it done and to get it right.I only cut the surface and removed that first. Then I was able to see what to do, especially with new light on the situation.I found the cross member just behind the module on the right side would allow 1 1/2'' square tubing over the top and support the cut bed frame just perfectly. After Easter celebration I'll figure out the rest the support n…
