I believe it's time for shocks. I've had the death wobble happen a few isolated times and have checked everything. All steering seems tight. Can't feel any play in the ball joints either. So, I'm going to say the shocks could be at least partially to blame. At 21 years old with 165k on them I'm leaning that way. Along with the steering damper. My question is what are you running? Why did you choose them? How are they performing for you? At this point in time I'm thinking of Rancho RS5000's and the Rancho steering damper as well. Thoughts? Comments? Thanks.

2 things happening right now, could they be related? When I turn the truck on, the ac only blows through the defrost vents, if I turn the ac off and back on it blows through whichever vent I select. Also, abs light and brake light are on. No codes. ABS module was sent off to Atlanta and rebuilt a few years ago. New front brake lines 500 miles ago. GN horse trailer currently hitched up, I unplugged the trailer connector and still getting abs/brake light. 4x4 works. Any ideas on a good place to start. edit*- took the truck/trailer down the driveway with the connector unplugged and that cleared the abs light. Ac issue still present.

hey guys and gals: Currently having an issue with my ABS/Brake light popping on then staying on- doesnt happen 100% of the time but a majority of driving time they are both on! I have replaced the rear axle speed sensor as well as the transmission sensor. The speedo needle will bounce very erratically and the brake pedal will sometime fall while sitting at a stop. I am thinking i have a booster problem or a proportioning valve issue. the left front tire will sometimes lock up hard under medium brake application. All the brakes lock up fairly easily on wet roads though. I have done full brake jobs with new wheel cylinders in the rear and …

So, I've stated before in another thread that I have experienced occasional death wobble. It's very annoying. If I hit a bump just right everything goes haywire Anyway, I got under the front end today while my son was turning g the steering wheel, there is some play within the steering gear box itself. Could this cause the wobbles? I know how to adjust the box, I'll get to that tomorrow. Just wondering if this could be the cause of my problems. I have replaced so far, both front shocks, left outer tie rod end. The rest of the tie rods seem to be tight, ball joints good to.

So I was on my way to work this morning, went to stop for a red light, traffic in front of me when the brake pedal suddenly went to the floor! I knew I blew a brake line at that point. Had to dive into a gas station parking Lot at 30mph to avoid hitting anyone! Downshifting, thankfully I have a manual Trans! Got her stopped and checked things out best I could. The line that goes into the rubber flex at the right front wheel was soaked. There's the problem. I'll get under it in a bit to see if it was the flex line or the hard line but either way scared the crap out of me. Day off work now to tend to it. Ugh.

I went to leave work today and noticed a hazard sign flashing on my Adrenaline display. It was coming from the trans temp icon. I opened it up and the temp was bouncing all over the place, anywhere from 0-220*. I have a mechanical gauge that was still reading less than 100 and the truck had only been running a few minutes so I knew the fluid wasn't hot. When I started driving it settled at 100* and stayed there only occasionally popping up to 108* and then back down to 100*. By the time I got home my mechanical gauge was at 140* while the Quad was still hanging at 100*. The transmission performed flawlessly as usual, could this be an issue with the Quadzilla or the …

Hey all. So was cruising down a dirt road here at about 30-40 and gave her some fuel and tires broke loose a bit. With that, I got a bouncing vibration in the rear end and I’m assuming it was axle wrap. Is this normal since I have higher HP than stock with no trac bars? It does the same if I break lose on pavement too. I’m trying to figure out if it’s just the added HP or if something is worn and needs replacing.

I shouldn’t be doing math this early in the morning, but I was hoping y’all could clear something up for me. @Mopar1973Man has 3.55 gears and replaced the factory size 265/75/16’s with 245/75/16’s giving him an effective ratio of 3.69. I have the same 3.55 gears, but from the factory my truck came with 245/75/16’s. If I were to use the tire/gear calculator and switch to 265/75/16 I would have an effective gear ratio of 3.42. So Mike and I have the same gears, but different effective ratio’s based on?? The sticker on the door jamb? From the factory was it 245, with 265 as an option? If so would that mean if you did the 265 option then your…

Forgive me if this has been asked and I can't find it. I am having trouble with my blend knob... Starting at around the 12 o'clock mark, one 'click' to the left and it will freeze you out, one 'click' back to the right and you get roasted out. Very Cold or Very Hot! no 'blend' at all... 2 different controls do this, really always has since I got the truck but I'm getting annoyed by it.

Hey guys! It seems my truck problems are coming in pairs Yesterday when I was driving home, I came to a stop light, and completely stopped. The light was soon to turn green, so I pressed in the clutch, and moved the gear shifter to 2nd... suddenly the truck started to roll and wouldn't stop moving forward! Thankfully the light turned green and I was able to resume driving home. The clutch felt spongy afterward. I then drove around a small parking lot at low speed, coming to a stop, then taking off... and found that sometimes from a dead stop, when I pressed in the clutch pedal, shifted into second, and waited, the truck would randomly starting rolling…

I've got a lot planned the 01 this year. I just ordered a cowl hood for it, and I need to start sanding the loose clear coat on the roof as the truck will be getting wrapped soon. I still haven't picked a color but I want something light that won't look dirty as easily as a dark color does. I also have another dash core and new dash top to swap in as well as a new head unit to go with the speakers I installed last year. Some window tint and a new windshield are also on the list. May end up doing a manual swap with Doug as well if that all pans out. It's gonna be a whole new truck.....so I can stop looking at other trucks, lol.

Here's another testament as to why I hate Dorman parts. I recently replaced both Interior door latch cables in my rear doors as they both broke when I removed the panels to replace my speakers. One of them is just barely too long, you can pull the handle and hears things move but the door won't unlatch. The outside handle still works though. The other door worked for a couple weeks then stopped opening entirely. How can I get the door open to take it apart again?

Anyone have or know where I can find the 6 fan pulley bolts for an 01 2nd gen. My son's fan hub bearing froze and sheared all the bolts of the fan pulley. I've tried MoparPartsGiant and they are stating there is an 80 day wait!....really need them much sooner. Even if I knew length, thread/pitch then I could go from there... Thanks, Bruce

Anyone have a source for OEM rubber tailgate hinge bushings? I bought some from Amazon, they're plastic. Don't think they'll last long plus out of the 4 pieces that came in the kit only one of them will fit anything. I looked on LMC website and seems that they now sell plastic parts as well. I would prefer to have rubber one like dodge put in there. Thanks in advance.

I come back to this every so often and I've never found an answer online. I think @Mopar1973Man will probably know off the top of his head, though! I have a 2001 SLT that did not come with the steering wheel audio controls. I really want them. I know I'd need to buy a wheel with the buttons, that's doable. I'm sure I'd need a different clock spring, that's simple. But I don't know if the existing harness would support the extra input signals? I've had my stereo out several times (and have installed several different stereos over the years) and I don't think I've ever seen an extra plug for the controls, which is why I'm thinking my existing harness…

Hey everyone, looking for some help. We had our first 70* degree day here in the mountains, and since our bodies are acclimated to -20*, i flipped on the A/C to cool down. But my heart sank when there was no cold air coming out of the vents. I switched it to "max AC" and the "regular AC" on the dial, but it seemed to make no difference. Drove a couple hours and it never came on. I'm not familiar with troubleshooting AC, so where would you start? The truck had good, cold A/C last summer before the winter. Now that winter is over, the AC doesnt work. One quick side note, last year a mechanic installed and airdog and when I got the picku…

So today I had some time to spare so I removed the gooseneck hitch from the bed of the truck. Boy am I glad I did. We have been pulling our 36' 10k pound fifth wheel (with an adapter) with this hitch. I noticed that one of the cross members was badly rusted, that's what prompted me to remove it to inspect it. All 4 bolts snapped off when I tried to loosen them. The hitch is junk. It would have been very dangerous if not catastrophic to pull the camper again. See pics below.

I suppose the 1/4 inch plug on the oil filter housing would work but is their one closer to the lower end other than the sender for the stock gauge?

Hey all, back again in relation to my battery. Running a single currently and it is dead and I want to replace it and do 2 and re do wiring. How long would I be ok to run a single? I’m planning to source the cable supplies myself as someone else did it who commented on my old post but it wouldn’t be for a few weeks possibly. Only strain on the battery would be cranking since I do not have a grid heater.

I think I’ll paint my valve cover while it’s off for the head studs install. I don’t really care about the looks too much, but if it’s easy enough I was thinking of using the same color of the truck which is patriot blue pearl. I can’t find that exact color in high temp. Will regular Dupli Color Exact Match spray paint work if I use a high temp primer and high temp clear coat? I’ll probably sand blast it to clean up the flaky oem paint.
