Installing new injectors 5x0.014 on truck in sig this weekend, would like to know what some of you put on the injector sleeve and locator ball to keep it from sticking/seizing in the head? Thanks Dave

So, I finally got around to taking my old tranny out, and took the 5th gear cover off to see what had actually happened...this is what I found...good thing I bought a brand new trans instead of just seeing what I needed to replace in 5th gear... and that's not glitter sparkling in the 1st shot....lol

I don't know if this is normal, but at idle my power steering doesn't work well. Like that when I bought the truck and has not gotten any worse. Not low or loosing fluid.

I got permission from my wife to get an exhaust brake!! I found one place that I can get the exhaust brake and 60# exhaust springs for $818. I already have on board air so I don't need to worry about that to run the brake if it needs it. Where would the best place be to get one?

Perhaps this should go in the 24v powertrain section, however I figure I will just piss people off over there Introduction I am in the process of swapping a 12v into a 1998.5 24v 5 speed. This should be an extremely easy process but I have had trouble finding the details on how to go about this swap. The info I post here should be at least 100% compatible with 98.5-2000 manual transmission trucks. If I make a mistake, have tips, or you would like to add something, let me know. 2 philosophies There are 2 trains of thought, the first is to fool your truck into thinking it still has the 24v in it. This is done by transferring sensors over to the 12v, this …

Remember my concerns last week on building a tow rig without a fuel plate.. and worrying about a non-accustomed driver behind the wheel? How about installing a valet switch... somewhere where I'm the only one that knows about it?

Hey, Is there any info about 12v mods... a place or site that has 'well known' and proven mods for various power level increases? I've checked out several sites that sell the stuff, but It would be nice to see what 'harmonizes' with each other! We all know about more fuel.....needs more air..........yada yada.. But I'm getting ready to start on my 12v, and hopefully will be 'dusting' off the credit card! I'm hoping to buy a known 'set of mods' that work very well with each other, and not have to deal with 'severe turbo lag, or coal-train-on-fire smoke... I've studied ISX's set up... and that appeals to me…

Well, I know it's been a while since I've been on, between a new job and life, it's been pretty hectic. Figured I'd drop in, say hi, and inform you that the trans will be coming out of the truck-blew 5th gear this week, and have something else going on in the front of the trans too. Uggh. Not looking forward to it! On a brighter note, we picked up a 2006 Jetta TDI, and I must say, I'm thoroughly impressed with it. The engineering, the small details, and the fuel mileage (47 mpg avg, in town and highway) I'm pretty happy with it!

After a long time of trying to pinpoint ISX's location, I was finaly able to find him, and take a detailed analysis of his brain. And so I put it in PDF format for you guys. I will state, he is really organized up there, he even had it split up between the years. No seriously though, I would download those things soon, they may get taken down. If that happens let me know and I'll see what I can do.

So I've been having a lot of vibrations from my truck over 65 mph. I figured it out be the carrier bearing between my two driveshafts. I did some research and found a place semi local who would build me one for $650. I start saving for this among other things I really need for my truck right now. Yesterday I was searching craigslist and found a guy selling an aluminum one piece drive shaft out of a 1998 ram 2500 quadcab short bed automatic. He said the measurement center of u joint to center of u joint is 68 inches. I went out to my truck this evening and with the help of a friend measure my driveshaft center to center and came up with 68.5 inches. With it bei…

Ok Guys, I tried making the video shorter so you wouldn't need a nap in the boring parts (wrenching)... However my movie editor software lacks as does my talent in that area so I apologize... I'm also am sorry my blonde shines through when I wasn't paying attention when I was adjusting the FSS and thought I had it in front of the lens.. But, looks like I fixed my problem https://vimeo.com/87241468

So I think I'm on the right page for my next issue...... but alay me if Im not. 2000 Dodge Ram with PPUMP and 12v throttle linkage with TPS. Getting p0122 and p0121. I have 5v at the TPS on idle (outsiode wires). I need to check the center circuit for voltage there. Also through throttle range. Beyond that ???? Dont want to replace a $200 sensor for no reason ...... I started looking at this as my TC wont lockup at low throttle positions ...... and Im pretty sure its related to this ....

I need to replace my front u-joint @ pinion, but I can get the damned clips out of it. Is there a trick without special tools? Also, ONCE they "out", do the caps tap out of the DS? Thanks, Rogan

So... it was a nice Sunday and I decided to install the Larry B's Starter solenoid kit today First off, the truck had something weird happen about 2 weeks ago Started it up after driving all day with no issues and it sounds like metal on metal :banghead: ...I shut it down quickly, or so I thought when I turned the key off... But alas, it kept running :banghead: :banghead: Anyway.. a quick call to MnTom, and my suspicions are confirmed... Starter Better than any other alternatives though So I ordered a Starter Solenoid kit from Larry B's. I will say he thinks of everything!!( Great customer service) Down to a pair of gloves and a Band-Aid!! Ok, let's get started ...…

Truck in sig has a slight (mili sec) cut out, pause, on sllloooww deceleration when manually manipulating the throttle cable. Just noticed it today. I was slowly revving engine, listening for a ex manifold leak and noticed when I reved engine up tp 1500rpm then very slowly let the throttle return to idle there was a dead spot round 1200rpm. Could not duplicate it going fast, or while driving. Any Clue, should I be concerned? Yes I do have a pin hole ex manifold leak on #3. Only audible @ idle and visible by the blowby between head and manifold... Up date,,, no codes and TPS 1yr old and tested good. Sprayed linkage.Still have the dead spot!! I have crawled all over tha…

My son has my 98 2500 4x4 now and the other day he needed 4 wheel drive to get up his hill, and i noticed both rear wheels and the passenger front were spinning, but the drivers side front was not. I always thought all wheels spun on these in 4x4 mode? Any suggestions to what may be happening? Thanks Rick

I know this isn't exactly diesel related but on my 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 the CAD axle tends to hang up once engaged. Then when you you try to disengage the 4WD the lever goes to 2WD just fine and the transfer case releases. But the CAD unit holds the axle for extended period like maybe another mile or so. POP! Violently releases you can feel it in the entire truck. I'm not liking the CAD units at all I rather have a solid axle personally way less to go wrong.

Anyone ever heard of Dodge using a Getrag G360 in a 94? Had a guy call me up today, asking for help with his clutch install, on his 94, with a build date of 06/94, and he showed me a picture, since he was having trouble taking his shifter off...turns out it was an old Getrag 360. I just thought it was odd, considering that it would have been that far into the production year for a Getrag to make its way into a 94...
