I hate when the weather warms up it just takes one day of melting snow to make a muddy mess of my truck. Doesn't look bad on the body but all the caked mud and packed in the fender well, frame, skid plate, etc. I'm more anal about keeping the mud off being the salt usage here is really high and it doesn't take much to start rotting the truck. After about 30 minutes of work with a 3,000 PSI power washer... I'm proud that I'm managed to extend the life span of my truck and its not rusted to hell yet.

I gave up on the local car wash years again for the reason their high pressure pump barely is enough to blow caked mud off. You would need nearly $10 in quarters to do the job properly. The out body is some concern but with the high amount of salt these days I don't need the mud holding the salt to metal longer helping the rust to form. So more time was spent laying on a creeper and spraying all along under the body and frame rails. Body was fast blow off but under the truck and getting up behind the box skins, above the fender wells, etc. Now that is washing a truck even with snow on the ground.

I have found when it comes to junky cars / trucks it is best not to treat them good in any way shape or form.  If you do it all goes to their head and they feel like they have the right to break down.  For my truck a wash is the first step to the wheels falling off. :shifty:

see, proof..... I washed it before that trip.

My wifes truck however gets washed all the time.  If you don't wash a nice car / truck it has the reverse affect.

Since my whole truck is bedlined and the only salt it sees is at the beach, it doesn't get washed all that often. Once I get a nice paint job on it though, it will definitely get the wash and wax treatment on a regular basis.

I am lucky that my truck has not seen a lot of salt in its lifetime.

I will have to shine the paint, the clear coat is gone on the hood and the roof.

I'm going for the rode hard and buffed way too much by the prior owner look.

I like the idea except I am my own previous owner.

Shhhh... I actually did some cover up work on a small rust spot. My tail got a paint chip or two over the years now the exposed metal started to rust with this year heavy dose of salt on the highway. So I wire brushed the spot masked it off and shot it flat black. You can't tell my canopy window or its the tailgate... :whistle2:

Oh yeah it only took me less than an hour to make a complete train wreck out of truck again it looks just like the above picture again.

You should look at my truck driver side looks wore out. The passenger side looks fresh.

I wonder why? :whistle2:

Half the truck got painted when I pulled a tree over on the truck years ago. So the passenger side is all fresh paint but the driver side is all well used.

:(

Mine got hailed.
