Most of you know about what's happen to @MoparMom. Since then I've made some decisions here to improve the house and lessen the worry of staying warm. So with her medical issues at hand, I figure it was time to make some improvements to the house. I've pulled the trigger to install modular heat pump system for the house. Today the Heat/Air Conditioning Company was out installing the modules in the bedrooms, kitchen, and the basement. It's a 4 module system. All independent settings with remote controls.

Here is the kitchen module which will cover the entire living area as well.

Now we need to get the electrical and the compressor hung tomorrow. I love this set up so far all hidden behind the house. No unsightly tubes on the other sides and very nicely installed so far.

Have to... If you have people stomping around crushing down all the new fiberglass blown in then it worthless. I've already talked to "OuR Factor" and he told me the same thing to get the heat pump in

I plan on using the heat pump for the mild weather like right now. It only down to 33*F tonight. It would be really nice for a mild night. The gent that's installing the system has a two module system

Up and running. Test driving the system now. Very impressive. Louver on discharge auto swings up and down spreading the heat. The fan is auto speed so it automatically tapers back as it reaches set te

This is great. Warm in the winter and cool in the summer, Mopar Mom will really appreciate it.  How efficient is a system like that in your climate? Will you be cutting back on the wood burning too?

Fairly good for the mild climate we got right now but as the temperature falls then we'll boost the heating with wood when it really gets cold. Now I can lock up the house and be able to head to Boise without a worry.

Yes, I'll be cutting back being I'm short on dry wood being I've missed my window on splitting wood so now all my other wood is wet and heavy now so that is going to suck.

Heat pumps work well in climates or conditions that are Moderate.  If you try pushing the heating or the cooling;  they struggle.

Several friends have them in their homes, and hate them.  One said our heat pump keeps us cold in the Winter and hot in the Summer!!!!

Your situation with the wood stove though...........it should be fine.

The gent that's installing the system has a two module system in his house work well for the winter here in the New Meadows / McCall area which is even colder. Again he's not relying on the heat pump allow but boosting with wood heat.

Boy, I sure do wish I had the system up and running this morning. The temperature dropped to 29*F last night the electric heater (portable) was set to 72*F and been running nearly non-stop since 2am this morning and the room is only 70*F.

I have been using a heat pump for 25 years or so and it takes a little getting used since the only time it really blows in noticeable hot air is when the strip heaters come on. you need to be sure the wheel on your electric meter well lubed cause she turn some rpm. Mine came on when we first turned the heater on this season and only comes on if you turn the t'stat up a few degrees, then I get warm air from the vents. The air normally coming out of the vents is just a little warmer than the ambient air house and just holds the temp where you set. It is definitely different than wood, gas or oil heat where you feel the heat. The heat just maintains the heat comfortably. Of course i do live in a different climate than you.

19* this morning compared to 46 yesterday, topped 80* 2 days ago haha.

I dunno man, all I know is if I don't get winter some heads are gonna roll.....

I was just talking to the installer and he's got a smaller system of a two module and runs good all the way down to -2*F and still able to hold 74*F in the house. I've got a 3 ton system and should do good for the mild temperatures down here. Typically winters are +20*F so should work excellent he said. With wood heat as a booster it should be easy heat then.

I'm not happy with the heat. Makes me twitchy too!

It did get cool enough I had to hook up side of my grid heater  didn't want to piss the neighbors off too much!

The heat pump system looks pretty cool Mike. And the house looks awesome, even from the back side!

They are in the process of covering all the tubing up and getting the system hooked up. It's already pre-loaded with freon (410a) so getting close to completion. He'll come in and explain how to use the remote controls and how to use the system.

Looks like a clean install but I'm sure you were the 'side walk superintendent' on the job with nothing getting past your eagle eye.  Looks like you'll get to test it out this weekend with temps in your area forecasted to be between 27°- 46° with a chance of rain turning to snow later in the week.
