Im pretty sure its a bearing failure its making a squalling noise with excessive grinding in 5th and 6th the the shifter will about vibrate ur arm off, I'm running 7qt oil, it doesn't have coolers, I've only pulled one 6k load and don't put a load on 6th gear if a can't cruise above 1800rpm on flat strait roads I don't use 6th

What fluid are you running in it? I remember after they discontinued the 5600 there were a lot of cheap parts floating around out there for rebuilds. Probably still are. You might be a victim of that.

I'm running Pennzoil syncromesh,  I'm wondering if they could have forgot something in there or set the tolerances wrong

Did you check the fluid to see if there's suspended metallic material?  Take it for a short drive and then dump a little fluid in a cup and see what it looks like. :thumbup2:

I have a buddy that is working with a shop in Texas that is extremely good with these. I can get the name/price if you are interested.

I'm planning on building it my self  I was just C ourious if there was a common thing that builders were failing to do

I would be interested to know the availability of NV5600 parts.  I have heard that they are scarce/expensive.  I wonder if it would be cheaper to source a rebuilt G56 rather than try to rebuild your 5600?
