This thread is where I will post updates of my modifications, issues i've had, and potential upgrades I'm considering.

This page is dedicated to @TFaoro, because without him my truck would be bone stock still....

To start off, today my VP died.  It took me by surprise, as it gave no indication there was an issue.  But, it threw Death Code P1691, and that's that.  Good thing it died before I bought tires.

Is DAP everyone's first choice for a new VP?

  • Yesterday I made a trip down to @TFaoro's shop to put a Fast cooler on my truck and do a pinion seal.  While there I was able to witness his new p pumped truck start up and go back together, while put

Joys of compounds. Managed to split a boot lengthwise, so had to jump on a set of vpmax boots. Hopefully now I'll quit blowing the damn things off.

What, you finally took the head off it?

It's in timeout behind the shop. I'm sure the fuel gelled as it was summer fuel. And the battery will be dead.

Versus my running and driving truck (that's currently not mad. Somehow) :)

Might as well send those boots my way since you're not using them!

Truck got a new set of Timken wheel bearings today. Fixed my steering vibration right up. And remember:

I knew that stock downpipe would come in handy one day.

I've got a 1" ratchet in my toolbox. I typically use the handle off my old floor jack for a cheater for leverage. Last unit bearing change on my truck I used my 1" ratchet and that floor jack handle to pull the very same nut. Needless to say the ratchet handle now got a curve to it now.

I finally got a 3/4" ingersoll rand impact a while back, that thing is pretty sweet. I know some new battery powered ones are great too but wanted something to last a long time. Took my rear end nut off to change the seal. I don't have a huge compressor but it still did it. Then I did a timing belt on my Honda and before I've used 3/4" ratchet jammed against floor and bumped starter, but this impact did it with ease. You can find some good used ones for pretty good price. I don't mind investing in good tools or tools in general.
