I notice members from Europe and other places joining this site...  I've read in the past the the US has higher HFFR ratio than Europe.  I understand that is the main reason why many in the US add two stroke oil, to help with lubeing up the VP44.

Out of curiosity if you buy fuel out of US how many miles do you get on your vp44.

    Thanks, insightful comments. When pumping fuel I often stare at the decal that says..." recommended for all diesel motors" knowing my next step is to mess with two stroke oil.

Now the EGR, SCR and other means of control are rather well, wasteful. Regen the DPF by dumping fuel down the exhuast stroke to push fire to the DPF to burn it clean. Then the EGR is dumping the carbon back into the intake manifold and plugging as well enhancing wear of the cylinders. I've watched Ford Powerstroke trucks going down the road start regen cycle puking lots of smoke and lose power as the cycle starts and then afterward then clears right up and back to running strong. I think there is much better ways of making clean burning diesel vehicle but here in the US is about making them inefficient and keeping the road taxes flowing. 

SCR is probably the best emission control out there.  The Stage V Cummins industrial motors were released not that long ago, without an EGR because the DPF/SCR combination can control emissions better than the EGR.  Now if only it wasn't so damn corrosive.

Cat have a huge problem with that system. Machines working inside closed buildings on waste handling, as the waste heats up/rots it releases a gas this gas reacts  with the adblue inside the dpf which breaks down the material the dpf is made of it then drops to bits and chops the tips off of 2 sensors at 2k for the pair, dpfs lasting 1000hrs nearly to the hour. Worked for cat dealer on field service up till jan 18, so changed loads all paid for by cat

The difference between diesel and petrol prices in Europe are not that much different here other than the total price. Our fuel is cheaper overall but yall are paying much more per unit. The federal tax here has not been raised in 10 or so years which is surprising to me.

No not good at all but as soon as these machines are removed from inside the building the problem goes away, owners are not happy as machines are sold as waste spec, Cat should have added another few words to the sales blurb  " waste spec but only outside" :lmao: from what I remember it got a lot of cat engineers, designers, tech people off of their chairs

Here in Finland diesel price is 5.9 - 6$ per gallon. Diesel quality seems to be quite good.

Filled up today at £1.33 per litre which is £5.98 per uk gallon. £80  is about 3/4 of a tank. I'd say £130 plus to fill from empty. More for 3500 as tank is bigger

Wow, you have more expesive diesel than we here!! We have like 1.35 to 1.40€ per liter. Gasoline prices are like 1.45 to 1.55€ per liter.

I may be way off here, but in my opinion the reason for high prices not only for corporations to make more money but to push more people to live in Cities vs country. There's got to be an agenda behind that. One thing comes to mind, control. Smart cities are on the rise, just a matter of time now.

Over here the actual cost of fuel is surprisingly cheap, maybe 0.30p per litre or something like that the rest goes straight to our money grabbing government as tax which is fuel duty plus vat at 20%  so in effect we pay tax on a tax.

Here also the biggest amount of diesel price is taxes!! And if you own diesel car or truck you have to pay taxes so you can drive it!!
