Good afternoon everyone,

This past week my vehicle situation has changed and I have been driving my 99 daily.  Since I have not driven it much this winter in the cold I don't think it sounds right.  I can hear a knock or a rattle noise when driving it and think it is either a fuel knock or timing knock and hopefully not something else.  The noise does not increase with rpms, but it is there. I believe the injectors are stock with 174k miles and the truck has a Quadzilla XZT+ chip.  Both videos were taken with the chip in the "timing" setting.  I have turned the chip to the off setting,  the noise is there but faint.  I have included a couple video clips, what do you guys think?

Well today is a good day.  Got my 100hp injectors in the mail from DAP and found a Quadzilla Adrenaline local for sale.  I've flashed it with the most recent v2.7 tune from here.  Will be a few weeks

If you got v2tuning I'd say go with 7x10 vco set at 320bar

Just a little update.  Truck has been running fine with what I call a fuel knock.  it still sounds like above on colder days, but I hope to fix that in next few weeks.  I ordered a set of 100hp inject

A correction, that is a 7 x 0.010 @ 320 bar tune.

Version 1.1.0 is a safe tune yet. I've not released my crazy timing tune yet... Coming soon.

I got the tune loaded into the quad and have been running it on level 0 just to data log.  I have to find time to get to a back road so I can figure out several parameters so I can adjust tune to my injectors.   @Mopar1973Man does my truck sound like it should with 100hp injectors? (Video below and above.) Truck definitely sounds different and i feel the knock sound from before is gone.

Thanks,

Quick question everyone,

It has been nearly a week since I've installed the Quad, I have been running it on the default setting after I downloaded @Mopar1973Man economy tune.  I turned quad up to level 3 today and wow.... what a difference truck is a rocket.  My question is:  My father in law thinks the sound that I think is a lope from injectors is not supposed to be there.  He thinks it is air in the system.  I have not had any hard start issues since installing injectors on 4/20/19.  Anyone think the sound in the video is normal or possibly an injector/air issue?

Thanks,

Tim

Mine with rv 275s sounds similar.  You don’t have air in the system if you get it to start it pushes it at least once you run it for a few minutes.

Rotax - Not sure I understand this part: it pushes it at least once you run it for a few minutes.

I mean once you get it to start, it runs rough for a few minutes while it works the air out. Mine takes maybe 30 seconds to a minute to level out.

yeah mine leveled out after about 30 seconds once it started after install, but the videos above are videos of truck idling once warmed up.

@Mopar1973Man I was amazed how much truck picked up just buy turning quad to level 3 with your tune.  Truck runs fine and starts right up.  Going to say sound is normal and possibly due to bigger injectors.

Nice!  I don't have head studs, but would like to see near 20mpg once i figure out some parameters and adjust your economy tune for my 7x.009s

I'm going upwards I'm going to aim for mid 20's for a goal. My all-time high mark is 27.2 MPG. That was back on RV275's and Edge Comp. Just reaching 21 MPG on 150 HP injectors and Quadzilla is quite the feather in the cap.

Good evening everyone,

Just little update after a couple tanks.  Truck still runs amazing, I put my wife in the back of her seat and made her drop her phone because she did not expect it.  Truck is an absolute dream to drive.  No complaints about the 100hp DAP injectors or the Quad Adrenaline.  I have averaged 15mpg using @Mopar1973Man's economy tune and @Me78569 mid injector daily tune.  I am running the Quad on setting 3 as I have not installed the BD stealth cover yet to tap the pump.  One question for everyone, will tapping the pump increase mpg?

No, it feels like it does though. Best way to increase mpg is smaller tires and slower speed, as little boost as possible with little engine load.

The best way to tell is on a fill up. Calculate the mileage and see what happens. New mine got 18 mpg on the highway. Now 467k miles later I am at 19.5. RV275's and an Edge Comp, pump tapped. Most all claim "possible mpg gains" but thats iffy at best. Just have to see what yours responds too.You are already on the right track with the comp, tap the pump and see when you are ready.

My last fill up I got 17.7 mpg, I should have gotten 19 or 20 but I can't keep my foot out of it :burnout: it's definitely getting better as temperatures are warming up

I have been filling up at 1/2 a tank.  Filled up yesterday 1/2 tank, used 20.405 gal and went 313 miles.  I did tow my camper home from storage 30 miles so figured this may of caused the lower mpg.  Shall see how this tank goes.  I'd love to get different tires, but the 285s have 3k miles on them so I'll be running them until they need replacement.  I'm happy with power and if it means I average 15 that's fine, its alot better than 12-13 I was averaging in winter.

Good evening everyone,

Just a small update - I downloaded the daily tune from the website and have gotten 18.2 mpg in town using level 2.  I still have to tap the pump, but am very happy with the injectors and quad!
