I'm back at it again hauling large loads of firewood again...

One of those last minute runs to the woods to pick up a load. We had rode the ATV up the day before and looked around and found several places for firewood. But I was wanting to get some red fir for the pile so out came the saws and start bucking up rounds. I got a tidbit of video I got to process out later on... But I had to share my of use and our prize for the evening...

Well... I just got back from a James place cutting up a elk and wrapping it... As soon as he gets here I'll be heading out to cut another load... Matter of fact James just rolled in the yard... It's going to be a long day..

I would freeze to death because I couldnt load three of those logs with out a set of ramps or a tractor.

I'm back with even bigger load...

what do you reckon that weighs? i see that load has you down on the overloads and sitting level. my rv does almost the same thing. i never weoghed it but i figuring 2k to 2.5k. the wood i dont know.

I was gonna axe the same question, Mike. Where can you fell trees like that in Idaho??? Public land, national forest, or is it on private land???

Each National Forest has different rules and regulations. Lik I'm cutting in the Nez Perce National Forest. I've got to get a wood permit for that area and its $5 bucks a cord. Now if I was to cut near home I'd be in Payette National Forest and they are about $7 dollars a cord all different rules too.

Good Ol' US Forest Circus and there ideas of control burns that got out of hand 7 different times burned over 23 miles of mountain ridge, distroyed 7 homes, and several historic landmarks. Just because its benefical for the evironment...

Like the fire scienist told me... "Just take a few D8 cat's run a ring around the orignal fire and let it burn out..." But no... They had to light a back burn that started this whole problem... Bad management for sure! I worked this fire for over 27 days...

10-4, I understand.In a nutshell, you pay for wood but the price varies where you go..........boy does that sound funny!!!How do they know how much you're cutting, and hauling out???? Is it an "on your honor" system???

I'm suppose to write down how much wood on the permit and the date and time... As for me I pull another load last night and I'm quiting for the time being. I'm phyiscally screwed up now. My lower back is sore, my left ankle giving me crap, etc... So As for my firewood hauling it completed for the moment. Time to relax let the wood dry in these 90-100*F temps. While the wood is drying it give me a chance to heal up a bit.

As for me I pull another load last night and I'm quiting for the time being. I'm phyiscally screwed up now. My lower back is sore, my left ankle giving me crap, etc... So As for my firewood hauling it completed for the moment. Time to relax let the wood dry in these 90-100*F temps. While the wood is drying it give me a chance to heal up a bit.

Get back to work! I just put in 25 hours saturday/sunday. Welfare is starting to look pretty appealing

There is a trick to it though. As you get more wore out/sore, leverage is key. We did a whole bunch of pipe fitting and by the end of the day I was using a 4ft pipe wrench to tighten 1/2" lines lol. I didn't see the need to tighten real good with a small wrench when I could just let the big one drop, tightening it without any effort from me.

Well if my buddy James would quit eye balling even huge tree out there and want them first... :lol:Not to mention I just got word from him he's got a 6 cord sale for us to fill most likely. He's got to firm up the deal but I'm willing to jump on it.

hope that was an aluminum wrench. 4' iron is tuff to hump all day.

Yeah it was, even still it had a big bend on the handle. I assume a breaker bar in conjunction with the fork truck did that. Kinda weird how I work, something like that for pipe yet I take my whole truck apart with a 1/4" socket set
