Well I've made it home for the summer and it's time to start tearing this thing apart. I will begin tomorrow, but yesterday I took it to the dyno. Laid down 503 / 1215. I was very pleased with the numbers, but the knocking is getting worse to it's time to take it apart.

Do those 4th gen wheels have a weight rating anywhere on them?

I don't think so, but I'll take a look tomorrow. They did have a date on them

Cleaned up a set of wheels I picked up for cheap. Time for some new tires!

Nice job, what did you use to clean the aluminum?

Do these wheel say made in mexico? I have a set just like that just without indent and they say made in USA and I had a set of the ones you got and they said made in Mexico. Just curious.

Here's everything that's on them. The numbers don't come up with much when I search them.

Simple green

Now they need some polish! Probably do that after the tires are mounted up.

Nope, Taiwan.

You know what, I meant to say Taiwan not sure where Mexico came from,  so this confirms what I thought, if they have indents in them then it's Taiwan otherwise USA. Taiwan from what I hear is better then China quality wise, at least for parts.

I've never heard of them cracking, and I've loaded them down / bounced over rocks etc. I think they look good too!

I will have to try some simple green, I havnt done a good cleaning on mine since I put tires on 3 years ago, now It's time for tires again

Ordered a set of fast coolers and some Amsoil for the G56 http://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-product/transmission-fluid/manual/manual-transmission-and-transaxle-gear-lube-75w-90/?page=%2fstorefront%2fmtg.aspx... Ugh, 8 quarts of fluid! I should be able to have the temp sensor installed now. Also got a buddy to buy the extra cooler, so that didn't hurt as bad.

Hopefully buying shocks pretty soon as well. They're getting tired at 208K! Not sure if I'll go with Rancho or Billstein...

My vote would be for bilstein :-) just curious, why amsoil and not the Mobil 50wt for your trans? I thought it was supposed to be one of the best for it?

Mostly because all of the reading I've done on it. Many people say it makes it harder to shift during winter because it's a straight weight oil, unlike the 75w90. Because I take the truck snowmobiling a lot I really need to be able to shift with I70 traffic (It's miserable!) The Amsoil is also a GL4 rated fluid, which is what's supposed to be in there. I'll also have a temp sensor in the PTO cooler, so we'll see if it's running in the right temperature range. If the transmission has a ton of gear rollover or is hard to shift I may look into the Mobil 50w

I've heard good and bad about the bilstein.... some say too rough, some say excellent!

It's just the price that sucks.... I can get the Rancho for under 50 each (buddy works at a parts store)

When I upgrade I'm going with THESE. They say they're valved for the 2500/3500 specifically so in hoping it'll add a little higher level of comfort.

I believe those are the same ones... I don't think bilstein makes a "specific" one for the dodge, but I can't seem to find a part number on their site.

No the 5100s are like their universal type of shock I believe. But those I linked from CJC seem specifically valved for these dodges weight so I'd imagine they're a little better then just 'regular' 5100

These are the ones you linked.... Says 5100 in two spots.... It's all a game of marketing! The 5100 is a 5100. Maybe I'll give them a call tomorrow and see!

Sorry wasn't trying to say that the ones you were looking at weren't 5100s. Just that the ones from CJC seem to have some extra work done to them to be valved for our trucks. Where as your "normal" 5100 are just valved for multiple use applications from bilstein.

Im not trying to start an argument, but I personally would be shocked if they do anything different for those shocks than say the are for dodge trucks. I highly doubt they are physically different in any way. Just my opinion of course. Now I have heard and wouldn't be surprised if there are different lengths of the 5100s to account for different size lifts.

Nah no arguing man! Lol

Ive just never seen any other retailer advertise that they were valved specifically for the dodges but maybe that's there way of saying they are for dodges lol. I just assumed since they offered a 0-3in, 4in & 6in version they must be doing something internally.

I could be completely wrong though and these could just be your regular ol 5100s!
