  1. Hello again all well after reading the other post i decided to try shifting at the rpms everyone else was using and now i'm getting a P0236 (Turbocharger Boost Sensor A Circuit Range/Performance) Code. Also the tuck feels like i'm more or less Lugging it all the time I build little to no boost and will as some say flat roll coal out the exhaust Double at time's 3 time's compared to windding the motor out as i was previously doing. Took it to my local Diesel mech told him the issue's he test drove the truck copyed my current driving style and and said i was "lugging the truck to much and underboosting the motor blowing my fuel out the tail pipe" He also said that the truck seem's like it has bigger injector with the amount of smoke it was rolling out. But how could i tell if the previous owner installed bigger injector's? Needles to say i'm gonna go back to my previous shifting habit's and wind her out safely that is lolP.S. he checked all the wiring checked the voltage at the APPS and also checked the fuel PSI all right on the mark the VP is spot on as well turbo is good to go.Update this maybe another issue will replace text if so..
  2. That is odd.... is this truck your daily driver? Seeing how your only driving it 900 mile's a month that could be a possibilty but, only 3 oz that's hardly any so it really shoudn't be gunking up. Were there any performance issue's loss of power, stumbleing? Loss of Fuel pressure if you have a Fuel gauge.
  3. Ok i am currently looking for a second Dodge with a cummin's under the hood. But same as the last go around finding one that is just like i want it is getting harder. So i'm looking for a 2001 Dodge 2500-3500 HO 6spd but so far nearly every one i've looked at all say the same thing 150-180-250k mile's The mile's are way back in my mind i've drove a few with 400k and drove like new and of course the dreaded "Just replaced VP44 and added a Airdogg/FASS" Why do all these people drop $1500 for a Inj pump +Labor and then add a $700 Fuel pump + Labor and a 100 mile's later thorugh it up for sale. If i drop that kind of cash on something i'm gonna run it into the ground. lol I had a friend drive his Cummins about 50 mile's hauling hay with out a fuel Pressure gauge as his VP44 slowly died after he turned it off it didn't restart...Needless to say about 6k in repair's later he got it back and learned a lesson. But his mech told him to just buy a pump from a junkyard and through a Fass on it and sell it quick. My friend begin an honest man refused took it some where else and had it replaced. So what i'm asking is what are the risk of buying a truck with a "recent VP44 replacement and airdogg" and how best to tell if it's a safe buy. I use my current truck as a guide on what to look for.(the one on the forum Background lol)
  4. I learned of the 2-cyl additive after i bought my second cummins and joined this sight untill then i ran only Diesel Kleen. It works great but didn't quite the motor at all then went to 2 cycle 1 quart for every fill up. But now I use a 75%(2cly)-25%(Diesel Kleen) 1 quart Mix and it's a perfect mix. Out of all the cummins truck's around here my motor is byfar the quietest at both ideal and rolling. I leave my truck running when i go in store's and when i come out i have people standing around it all the time's to both praise the looks of it and say how quiet the motor is!!!
  5. Thanks for the reply ISX those were along the line's I ran myself till my Diesel mech told me to stay above 2500rpm's to take advantage of peak boost level's. below 2500rpm's my 6spd seem's to buck alittle and lug more after shift into next gear. Really bad going into 6th which is only good for interstate or rolln' smoke not that i do that stuff.. - - - Updated - - - Hmmm 2 to 1 so far lol maybe i just like the sound of my turbo whistleing and the roar of the little 6 talkin' to me to much hehe this is what I do more or less in mine(not me in video) http://youtu.be/1EbH3g1_-eI Though at time's i drive like this (Also not me) http://youtu.be/3JWnyRrHPPc And I'm sure we've all done this when you see a Powerstroke/Duramax owner out by there truck looking at you pulling out http://youtu.be/QQSOFuCB0ac Ok got alittle of topic....now I wanna go drive mine but it's 12:00 AM .... lol
  6. I too have thought of doing this mod but I can't justfiy the $700 for a Flex-lite kit not mention the removal and modification of item's to gain 1ish mpg and a couple of HP. If the fan is turning freely as Mopar1973Man said it's not eating up that much power plus you'd be using electric power from the battery to power it making your altenator work more pulling your engine down just the same as if the fan kicked in. but if i had to work on another piece under the hood and removed these item's to get to it then yeah i'd through it on while in there. of course if i had the extra cash to
  7. I've looked around on here and other forum's and asked around and got a wide gauge of idea's. So I have drove stick shift's for year's now even Learned how to drive in a 3 on the tree chevy truck. But my question is at what RPM's do you shift your truck i know empty vs. loaded, Rear gear, 4, 5, or 6 speed is all a factor but overall what is your choice RPM's. Just for fun here's three different example'sMy Boss drive's our work truck a 94 5 speed Cummin's 3.55 gear's1-2: 2500 rpm's or 5mph2-3: 2600 rpm's or 15mph 3-4: 2200 rpm's or 25mph 4-5: 3100 rpm's or 45mph Refuse's to down shift when slowing down will push the brake to the floor and nearly kill the Motor before engaging the clutch which nearly bring's a tear to your eye and shake's you like a rag doll yet wonder's why the rotor's are so warped... :banghead:My Cousin drive's his 06 Comman rail 6 speed 3.73 gear's (Built motor and tranny) at 1-2:3100 2-3:3100 3-4:3100 4-5:3100 5-6 3100....See a patern here "if it's not redlined your doing it wrong" to quote him should note he has totaled 2 truck's and 3 Cummins motor's in only 3 year's lol My uncle's 02 cummins 5spd 4.11 gear's mildly built 1-2 1500 rpm's2-3 1600 rpm's3-4 1600 rpm's4-5 1800 rpm's Build's NO boost maybe 5 pd's and roll's coal and average's really high EGT's bought the truck 5 year's ago and still has no idea what an EGT or PSI gauge measure's even though i've told him again and again. So as you can see I had to learn for my self what I feel is best for my 01 Cummins 6spd 3.55 gear's 1-2 2600 rpm's at 13 PSI Boost EGT around 400+/-2-3 2600 rpm's at 18 PSI3-4 2700 rpm's at 23 PSI 4-5 2800 rpm's at 27 PSI5-6 2800 rpm's at 32 PSI Boost EGT around 900+/-But at time's it feel's as though when the turbo spool's up it hit's those number's above and then they drop off yet i still can give it more pedal and and gain RPM's and speed but not Boost. Is this the wastegate opening i thought it open's at a Set max PSI not at different one's? Look forward to everyone's view's
  8. If you want stack's but would miss the bed use have them run like this or if size is what you want how about this one <------- :banghead: sorry couldn't resist's it - - - Updated - - - Something like these Which are so awesome looking just wish i knew who made the kit's I would happily buy ...
  9. LoL i agree with you anything over 6 inch is just to big to me that is to each his own... then again about the compensating part you said around here there is a local 18yr old girl who drive's a 2001 dodge 2500 cummins stock truck with a stock exhaust system with a miter cut stack attached as the tail pipe a 16' miter cut at that!!! it hit's the bottom of the bed, the rear bumper, almost the tire and when she goes over the speed bump's at wally world....the ground too!! :banghead:
  10. Over the weekend i got the chance to drive a 2007.5 dodge 3500 2wd with 99k mile's with the 6.7. I was surprised at how quite the the motor was compared the the 06 comman rail i did own and the 01 Cummins i now own. Power wise it was a beast lot's of low end torque. What surprised me was it was a ky Road dept. truck owned by a DOT officer and it had the muffler, cat and DPF, EGR delete and a H&S programmer.... also it blew alot of smoke at WOT blacked out a 4 lane highway But the only issue I had was the trans which had no idea what gear it wanted to be in until i used Tow/Haul then it really firmed up and knew it's role. If it weren't for the new rule the bank are forceing around here only giving out 1 auto loan at a time. had the down payment, trade in, and a great credit score/history but they wouldn't give me the loan gotta wait 380 day's till i pay off my 01 Cummins to buy my 3rd Cummin's(Still keeping the 2nd.
  11. Thanks for the Pic Mopar1973man does it's placement there change the Boost PSI number at all begin there?(Just Curious) And for the tranny bolt mine is on the Driverside of and is huge like a 3/4 ratchet will go in and be loose. But it's a hex shape inside
  12. Hmmm I feel mine is lowish at idle 13-14 at WOT 13 I contacted FASS through Facebook they replied in minutes at 11pm central time was surprised they said "That's a good number but I should do the spring trick to raise it another 1-2 psi and i'm all set" just need to do it. The Truck drive's great aside form the dieing APPS my Diesel repair shop friend hooked it up to a computer and said at WOT it would go from 70% throtle to 5% upto 50% and up and down wouldn't hold a even % As i thought it was a bad VP but he said he was 99% sure it need's a new APPS that the VP was in good shape.
  13. Thank's for the Pic stodg73 it is the same as mine just wanted to see where they are generaly placed Also on a side note after looking over my tranny i have discovered mine has the BD Diesel Short Shift kit i was about to purchuse at 250 some odd dollar's Now to find out what i will spend the extra money on I told my Dad a dozen time's it was different then my neghibor's 2001 6spd in some way he said it was all in my head
  14. Hello all i have two Question's about mytruck (the one in my SIG) First Question what tool do i use to remove the "bolt" to check/change my tranny fluid(6spd) is there a special tool cause the bolt is huge inside lol also Where is the best place for a Boost gauge or where did you place your's mine (Installed before i bought it) is on the intake maniflod not the "Intake horn" just to the right of the grid heater and how accurate would this placement make it for measuring Boost? Thanks all look forward to the replys
  15. So as the title say's did you buy the Dodge or the Cummin's?? Over the year's i've heard prople I know say I'd love a Cummin's just don't want a dodge. I myself own 4 atm A 1974 Dodge D300 440, 2000 dodge 1500 360, 2000 Dodge 2500 V10, and a 2001 Dodge 3500 Cummin's. And as you can tell I buy my Truck's for the Brand on the Grille not the engine under the Hood Getting a Cummin's was just a bouns. But i was curious if any one else bought a Dodge truck that happened to have a Cummin's in it or a Cummin's with a dodge wrapped around it.....I hear the Phrase "It's a Dodge thing" used way to much. To me that's just BS for lazy owner's to lean on. To start a cracked Dash would not happen if the vehicle was wiped with persay Armor All wipe's weekly to keep it moist and was covered on sunny day's with a window Cover mine came from Duck's Unlimited work's great take's 2 minute's to do it. Mine was done on the 2001 dodge 3500 by the orignal when new till i bought it and still do as well guess what not a singal crack. Or the "Dodge Auto Transmission are junk" according to my local trans rebuilder who love's lazy owner's of these truck's say's the base tranny is great and nearly bullet proof if the guide line's are followed to the leter you could get 200k out of your tranny (Normal driving and towing that is) changeing your fluid'sand filter at 28k mile's and adjusting your band's every other change your good as gold.I'm not saying that dodge's are perfect nothing is but the brand take's to much flake from lazy people. So am i alone on this or are there more people out there that feel the same just Curious
  16. Yeah the 74 is a work in progress bought it for the bed and decided to restore it but is takin awhile mainly due to the ongoing brake issue's and of course lol Been trying to find a 440 to go back in but there few and far between not to metion expensive - - - Updated - - - I own a 2000 Dodge 2500 4x4 V10 with the Auto in it and it pull's good just take's alot more Fuel the 4-7 mpg is a little hard on the wallet. Here's a pic as of now And yes it a gasser with stacks lol but really it's the most quite of exhaust you've ever heard before i put this exhaust in it would blow your eardrum's....
  17. So took a trip up to a local dealer who on rare occiasion's get's a Diesel truck in on trade for a new car/truck. He had a 2007 Dodge Cummin's From 20 feet the truck looked great all clean and shinned up. At arm's length tottaly different story. The truck was locked and i motioned for a salesman to come over. After a few polite's i asked him for some info and backstory on the truck. He said the previous owner told him it was a One owner low mile's 2007 dodge 3500 with a 6.7 and was totaly stock just debagded and Flatbed added .... Apperentaly they took the man's word and never even poped the hood or drove it!!!! He give's me the key's first thing i see is that it was not a factory dually so i keep looking to find that it was a 2500 with a set of dually wheel's. I told him the info he looked pissed he was told it was a 3500... Then i poped the hood to see a 5.9 under there and then informed him of the difference between a 6.7 and a 5.9 His face was blood red at this point. I noticed the velcro on the fuse panel and the cut wire harness and told him it was once chiped. The worse part was when he said it was adult owned never even used to pull with(Which was bull due to the fact the Gooseneck ball was pretty wore and had 5th wheel hole's in the bed and the resse hitch square was horribly wallered out) The Exhaust manifold shield was so black and red from extreme heat and the turbo was all kind's of color's. Then i laid down on the ground to take a look oil was coming from every where mostly from the rust hole in the patched on exhaust a huge puddle of oil under the truck nearly a quart. I assumed the turbo was shot I said "Did you not see all the oil leaking when he brought the truck in???" his reply "Well that just a Diesl thing all of them leak oil really Bad no worry"... He then asked if i wanted to start it and here it run i said "No you will do alot of damage if you do." At the point he fired it up and a bellow of oil and white smoke rolled out the exhaust tip. He then reved the truck and of course more oil flowed out. He said "Hop in and drive it down the road" I said "No way" so he replied "Hop in i'll drive it" Needless to say we went about a half mile i noticed the odometer didn't work(hence the before metioned low Mile's) and the trans was slipping horribly and the low oil light poped on so i reached over and turned off the key shoke his hand walked away to my truck He ran up behind me I turned around he looked me right in the eye and said $27,500 and you can drive it home....Needless to say I didn't come home with the truck...He has now lowered the price to $12,500 in only 2 hour's. I don't know if I feel sorry for the guy cause he might have gotten taken on the truck or the fact he was furious that i seen all of it's flaw's and called him out on it as he was tryin to unload it on me....

  20. Welcome Robby!!
  21. Welcome!!! This site is just awesome i have learned so much from here as well!!! The 2 cyl oil work's great on my truck quiter start up on cold morn's and alot quiter when ideling. Again welcome
  22. Haha :banghead: yeah i am dead serious he won't touch it at all until something brake's or falls off which is why i want to buy it ASAP.. - - - Updated - - - Also (i'm not sure how to do the update part on my Orignal post) I spoke with the org owner today after work and beside the fact my Uncle got a awesome deal... But the truck is not stock. It has a Industrial Diesel Hot rod Inj pump, a set of 75HP nozzel's, Bigger connecting tube's along with bigger injector line's he wasn't sure of the last two item's brand i do know the inj line's are blue in color. But he did remove the Edge and the CAI before my uncle bought it for his other truck. Which now i see why it smoked more and had alot more get up and go then mine beside the 4.10. But thank's all for the info and Thanks for the compliment's on the truck Now if i could only find a good 12 valve to drop in my 74 D300 behind it....
  23. I hear ya i love my 6spd wouldn't trade for any 5spd when it come's to DD and hauling. But when i said stock that's his word for it as he bought the truck 4 year's ago from a kid near my area and the smoke is probaly from the the fact the man does 0 maintenice to it and i mean 0 :banghead: only maintence he's done was he replaced the rusted Nerf bars this christmas . In 4 year's and around 35ish k mile's of either hauling hay or cattle he's done No oil change, No oil Filter change, No fuel filter change, No water sep filter change not even washed it in all that time. If it wasn't for me draining the water sep and adding oil on sunday's when i go over it might not have made it this long....I'm really tryin' to talk him into selling me the truck to save it from his torture But i'm gonna ask the previous owner on what he done to the truck as far as addon's go cause there's no way it's stock.
  24. Hello all the other day i helped my Uncle Haul some hay on his farm. We used our truck's and Gooseneck trailer's here's some info His2001 Dodge ext. cab LB DRW 4x45.9 SO stock down to air filter5 spd with 4.10 gear'sFass 150 GPH ISSPRO Boost, EGT, Fuel pressure4 inch turbo back stright piped to 5 inch tipMine 2001 Dodge ext. cab LB DRW 4x45.9 HO 6 spd with 3.55 gear'sBHAF, Bank's Big Head wastegate, Aftermarket air intake horn, Bank's ottomind programmer(Junk lol) 150:1 2 cyl oil mixFass 150 GPH ISSPRO Boost, EGT, Fuel pressure4 inch turbo back stright piped to 6 inch tip(To note I am have a serious APPS issue which i hope to fix real soon)We were both hauling 14 1,300 pd roll's on the same type gooseneck trailer's 40 ft' flatdeck's dual tandem axel's. I drove both trucks cause he wanted to try a 6spd and i wanted to try his 5spd. We went a total of 10 mile's one way up long hill's down long not step grade hill's at a speed around 55+/- the whole trip. When i drove mine I knew the trailer was there up hill's but done great overall averaged around 30 pd's of boost at top of 5th gear at 900F EGT had no smoke at all was happy with performance...or so i thought when i drove his......Wow alot more power and smoke. Not smoke out a 4 lane highway but pretty good for a stock truck. It had alot more umpff off the line and got up to speed quicker his turned a few more RPM's in 5th and only around 24pd's max boost in 5th with around 975-1050F EGT's on flat ground but his did use more fuel overall (since on the long down hill's i could coast in 6th all the way down at around 1800RPM's while his held around 2300. I mean i have a truck with 4.11 gear's and they do wonder's but it's like night and day here. Why? Look forward to input's Here's a pic of my Tow rig hope it show's up
  25. Thanks for the idea ABennin will have to try that also to add i had totaly forgot this till i ran all this info by my dad today that the brake pedal is sticking you have to pull it up with your foot after you press it down even while bleeding it. It will not just come back even when just sitting not running press it down will stick right where you stop and not come back till pulled. thank's again all hopefully after the last 3 days of snow and rain and the next three days of it when it warm's up i can get to work testing these new idea's thanks again all
