slipped my clutch.
No worries John, I've used SB for the better part of 25 years, and a few issues but nothing like this. And if you search, it seams it happens a lot to the SB crowd. not so much the Valair, but still a few reports of it. My email correspondence with SB has been they still think it's a pressure plate issue. I will give them a call Monday and see about getting a new one on the way. i purchased the entire kit to try and not have these kind of issues. but well, those that know me call me Murphy, as his laws fallow me with a black cloud.

slipped my clutch.
I'm beyond OCD. Very detailed. I know better than to suck it together with bolts. It engages about 1/2-3/5 way up the stroke, so I know it's not a hydraulics issue. They are new as it is. Only thing I can think of is pilot bearing is dragging.. its new as well. IMG_7199.MOV Hey Mike you do you feel like tackling this? i'll gladly drive up and turn wrenches with you.

slipped my clutch.
so clutch has been installed for a little over 1200 miles, and i gotta say i hate it. the peddle resistance has subsided enough to where i can handle it, but i still cant get it into 1,2,R without going to 4,6 first, even then it's almost impossible, so i shut the truck off, shifts smooth as glass, start truck and drive. if moving it shifts good, Mind you i never had these issues before, i'm bout to put my old one back in as i cant swing another 1300$ another clutch. needless to say i'm not happy, Emailed SB they say it sounds like a pressure plate issue, Trans shops tell me it's the pilot bearing dragging on the input shaft. yeah i'm really miffed.

Endurance tires by goodyear
i used to like the MAXXIS ones, then I got Hercules, and i gotta say. they are the best so far, Lot better sidewall from the maxxis, i'm thinking i'll be switching to LT truck tires next. but for just under 400$ for the Hercules tires, it's hard to pass up. i've got 7 years on mine and i think the tread will be gone before they dry rot. the inside edge from turning is killer on tires.

Reliability
my 04 has 245K on stock injectors, it's a far better truck than my 08 in driving comfort. 04 has a built auto, and it's a world of difference from stock. my 08 has 170K on stock injectors, the G56 is nice for sure, but slow. it tows like a train though. it's amazing the 6.7 power wise, i just like the ergonomics of the 04 over the 08. the 08 is deleted, and gets about 1mpg better than the 04. find one that was cared for, or had recent injectors installed with the updates. and get better filtration in them. both will be great truck. all 3rd gens have HVAC issues, broken wires in the door jambs, the late 03 and early 04 are the best ones, the 305 HP engines have zero smog junk. and has been toted as some of the best trucks dodge ever made.

slipped my clutch.
So, who wants to help install a clutch? @Mopar1973Man it's paying job of course. thoughts?

i was in a hurry, and sometimes it's easier for me to pay to have it done than to deal with it my self. but never again.

i never opened the second box. i do believe in Karma, I'd really hate to think that some one gets fired for double shipments, maybe it was shift change, anyhow, someones books are going to be off. ergo, someone might loose their job. all because i was greedy and decided to keep a 300$ part. then my thoughts spin outa control. what if he was newly married, or just had a kid, or who knows. so i'll let amazon know i'll use the RMA free shipping tag, and request a pickup at my house. The new pitman arm was part of a separate order, so i'll sell that off cheep. Oh and NEVER go to BigOTire for any alignment, i went there Friday before my road trip, asked for a toe adjustment only. and of course i needed new ball joints, that i didn't do, so of course they wouldn't warranty the alignment sense i didn't do the ball joints. Well the truck was road happy, liked to wander, so after about 220 miles i stop at a ace hardware buy a socket tool, and added some tow, road wonder went away, still had slight cases of Death Wobble, after getting home, i get out my jack stands and string, and start measuring, toe is ok after i adjusted it, i checked the caster, and it was WAYYYYY off, the ball joints were almost up n down, SO i crank it back some, lean the axle back a few degrees, all is better in my world, no DW, truck drives much better.

well now comes the moral dilemma. the vendor informed amazon of the mistake, amazon tells me they will like to give me a RMA shipping label and they cover the cost. i have not accepted the deal, they had wording of canceling my amazon account. and charging my CC for the merchandise. my rebuttal is their mistake, so i've yet to decide. Wife says send it back.

Well i contacted Amazon, told them of the double shipment, they tell me i'm mistaken, that you can only print a shipping label once. UPS confirmed, only one label was printed. Yet, I have two boxes, two identical labels. They tell me they will look into it but that likely nothing will come of it. it's bloody heavy, so i'm not sure what shipping would be. as for the pitman arm, i'll gladly throw it in a box and send it where ever, just cover shipping.

If I am going to do tie rod ends and steering components
sorry i'm of no further help. i know my system is great after the replacement.
-
If I am going to do tie rod ends and steering components
don't know, something about the size for the joint stud. some people were reaming out the holes.. but i think this is a better option. i ordered on thinking i need it, turns out i didn't need it.

If I am going to do tie rod ends and steering components
i got the mopar parts, i think there was a $60 difference from MOOG problem solvers, and the Mopar ones. for me it was a bolt in process, for you, you might need the new pitman arm. (i have an extra) and i think there is some good videos on youtube about it. i got mine from amazon. if you look at my post about steering damper you can see what i got.

writing my own tunes
ok well i've got some packages in. YAY!!. Anyhow, can i just flash over the top of my EFI live tune? as the group i got it from is less then helpful on returning my truck back to the stock file it "saved" when i try it states unsupported, or something like that. and now one to the tuning. i have a few questions to get me going... what does MM3 mean? it seams i can adjust MM3's and MPA, not sure what those are. the other one i see is inHg, anyhow would be great thanks...

i got new track bar bushing with the intention of replacing when i had everything off... but well, they were in good order. so i'm not going to fight getting them out,
-

they are two identical boxes. i just installed the parts on one truck, have a whole nether set for another truck, i'd put it on my 04 but it's already got the new parts with about 25K on them.

steering damper
it does thank you. Well pleasant surprise today. my new steering parts came in. but well someone messed up, i received 2 boxes. same part numbers, same shipping numbers, two boxes with the same tag... looking at my online receipt, i was only charged for one. the conundrum, what to do with the second set... send it back? or their mistake and keep it...
-
writing my own tunes
don't get to excited, you might end up helping me learn the tuning part of all this. adjusting the levels and what they are... thanks for the advise..

fuel filter life.
With most of us running aftermarket filters, that are meant for OTR trucks or tractors, how do we calculate the life of the filters? one would think these filters are designed to be by the amount of gallons they filter, not miles driven, i suppose an equation could be made for such, on average a truck uses 25 gallons for every 500 miles, but what is the filter designed to filter? 11-12 hundred gallons? 20000? i've looked and can't seem to find much. just that it's a 3 micron FW filter at 99%, P553203, Just seems to me that changing a filter designed for OTR truck on our little ones after only 15K miels, that's only about 1000 gallons of fuel. seems very under utilized to me. I know a lot of OTR trucks that go past 30K on filter and even oil changes, that would be more like 5000 gallons of fuel filtered... Or am i way off base with this?
