  1. Edit: I just ordered the 6 pack of exhaust flange gaskets from stainless diesel as well as a couple turbo oil cooler coupling gaskets, and a couple t3 flange gaskets. I'm also replacing the exhaust manifold studs with grade 8 black iron studs & 12 point nuts. Same stuff we use in the steam drums in powerplant generation boilers. I'm pretty excited. I just installed one of these a couple weeks ago. Wayy better than a muffler in my opinion. EGTs still the same as they were with the straight pipe, drone is gone, obnoxious thundering sound is gone (never thought I'd say that, but hey I guess I'm getting older). Not bad for $65 free shipping.
  2. Any suggestions on pads that create minimal brake dust?
  3. Hey guys n gals....been a long time since I've been on the forum, let alone done anything to my truck. Just picked up a used stainless diesel manifold for $450 on eBay from a trusted seller. Very happy. Haven't put it on yet. This is a modification I've wanted to do for a long time. One of the steps in my overall goals for the truck. Now that life isn't kicking me in the nu**, I can get back to doing the things I love. I also need to put a full set of brakes on my truck. I'm just going with OEM everything. I'm replacing all 4 calipers and rotors and using ceramic pads, haven't figured out which brand of pads to go with yet. Looking on Genos garage and elsewhere, I feel like Geno's has the best prices, expect for the calipers, they don't carry those. I sourced those OEM mopar NOS on eBay from a trusted seller also (I've had great luck with eBay over the years). Also, how do I make a donation on here? Thanks.
  4. I actually had one of those "big dog" mufflers. It was 52" long end to end from diamond eye. I ended up taking it off and selling it on Craigslist. I guess I could try one of those resonators. Wouldn't hurt. If it doesn't do what I need it to, I'm sure someone on Craigslist here in Western wa will scoop it up quick.
  5. @dripley Thank you for your feedback! I didn't even think about swapping the FASS pump head onto the titanium unit. I'll look into that. Its unfortunate that Moog was bought out. It seems that literally EVERYTHING these days is about profit and not at all about customer satisfaction. I like the sound of the 5" straight pipe...just sounds wicked as hell, especially when the engine was under load. Going to a 4" w/ a muffler seems like the right choice anyway.
  6. Its been a while since I've done anything to my truck/been on & lurked on any forums. She's still going strong. I still maintain it as I love it as much as I always have. Life circumstances have changed the course of life for my family and I. We are selling the house we bought in 2015 in Fruitland, wa & have since relocated back to Puyallup (western wa ;( I switched careers because of a personal injury. I have not been able to do any of the "coming soon" items in my signature, but believe me, I still intend on doing them. Things are slowly getting better. A few concerns about some items on my truck.... in no particular order: -Fass fuel lines are cracking. The 1/2" blue hoses that came with the system are showing their age. Has anyone replaced them with anything better? If not, I plan on having new ones made at a hose shop here in Tacoma. -Transfer case (NP241 DHD) seems a bit sloppy. I know those cases are among the best out there. Opinions? -I want to replace the Fass 150 platinium pump with a Titanium pump....is FASS still one of the best in the business or have they been surpassed by another outfit? -One piece driveshaft? I remember asking about this once before. Can't remember if it was here or cumminsforum. I've read mixed opinions about them. I know @Mopar1970man has a similar opinion as mine, if its been designed by a team of engineers getting paid hundreds of thousands of dollars, its a good bet to leave it alone. Which is precisely why I have. I know I just answered my own question, however i'm always open to opinions and suggestions. -Ball Joints. I know how to replace em'. Should I stick with OEM spicer or go with another brand? Ive replaced every single U joint (except the front axle U joints) with OEM spicer joints. Very happy. -Exhaust. I can't believe I'm actually bringing this up. When I put my 5" straight pipe on years ago, it was for one reason and one reason only...to keep the EGTs down while towing. I'd keep it on but since I live in Liberalville now, there are certain municipalities and cities & counties that have codes are ordinances against loud exhausts. So before i end up pulled over over something trivial as exhaust noise, I figure I'll be proactive and quiet it down. I was thinking just a diamond eye (I've had excellent luck with them) 4" turbo back with a muffler....
  7. Indeed. I have over 60K miles on my tranny since you built it. Changed the fluid & filter every 15K miles like clockwork as well as adjust the bands. I will say though, I like to keep it out of overdrive until I'm over 45 mph because I don't like how it wants to go into OD so soon. Nothing on your end, its just how the 47re behaves. Still waiting on the valve body upgrade, LoL!
  8. Wow..... tis why I would only buy a new vehicle off the lot. I'm sorry to hear this. Hopefully it wont take another 140 days to get a new truck.
  9. @Me78569 has the wait been a test of your patience?
  10. Delo 15-40 and Napa gold here. Change between 5-7K miles depending on how hard its been ran.
  11. https://mopar1973man.com/topic/12290-the-crf450ish-random-question-thread/?do=findComment&comment=150001 I don't feel confident with my knowledge to be suggesting to others what to do and what not to do. What I will do is point you in the same direction i have been pointed in....
  12. Once upon a time, someone here (honestly cannot remember) suggested this turbo for me & 150's.....https://powerdrivendiesel.com/product/borg-warner-sxe-drop-2nd-gen-dodge/ if you have the $$$....go for it. with the quad V2, you can control fueling.
  13. no, just billet input. TC came from cascade converters somewhere near marysville, wa. Which apparently aren't there anymore
  14. +1 on Dynamic! Over 2 years later and nearly 35K miles and I'm happy with my trans. Still shifts like it did on day one after the build. I keep fresh fluid in it and the bands adjusted frequently.
  15. @Me78569 congrats man! I'm late to the party as always haha! I'm sure you're gonna love it, and as far as the wife.....if she's anything like mine, the complaining about go fast parts will end immediately after she drives it . I wish you the best!
  16. Well....seems like the next project is to swap in an eaton Heavy duty 13 speed. Similar to that of the one my old man has in his 06' Kenworth T600. Regularly hauls 100K LB loads from Seattle to Billings montana. CAT C15 pushing 625hp to the ground and god knows how much torque..... I'm here to tell you right now, if you did swap in an eaton semi tranny into your truck, I would fly down to CO and pay you to take me for ride in it at full power
  17. I catch your drift, haha. Ill never let go of my cummins!
  18. I'm gonna go ahead and go there.....my next diesel is going to be a duramax. Ive made my mind up. I test drove a brand spanking new shiny one today just for fun (the sales guy knew i wasn't buying). They are so nice inside. Ive got 3 kids....my wife like my 2nd ged but hates how "cramped" we all are in there. Plus the warranty is transferable so I can buy a certified pre owned one. I just don't like the interior of the new dodges. I think all brands have their ups and downs. I like my 2nd gen...would never own a 3rd gen, wanted a 4th gen etc etc etc. Its all up to personal preference in the end.
  19. I will use a thin film of copper anti seize then. The copper stuff is more resistant to heat. Not that it matters much in a cummins engine thats in good repair. EDIT: hey @TFaoro....U got any decent videos of your rig showcasing its power?
  20. Interesting. Never heard of lubricant being used on internal fasteners within an engine. I do put a very light film of anti seize on the very end portion of lug nuts where they mate to the rim. As to avoid torque loss due to friction between the lug nut and rim, I never lube the threads though. I learned allot about torque loss working in refineries tightening flanges. BP and SHELL require anti seize on the studs, or bolts, both sides of the washer and just everywhere. Its a mess, but the engineers involved in investigations in refinery mishaps have found that poorly torqued flanges, due to friction, have allowed leakage of hydrocarbons. Bad Bad Bad. I simply applied the same principal at home when working on my stuff. But never lube the threads on lug nuts.
  21. I had no idea it was a good idea to use never seize on head studs. So it is?
  22. I bet you'll miss your cummins when you have to dig into that powerchoke to do any repairs or engine mods. Even injectors. If I could have the new 2018 SuperDuty with a 6.7 Cummins and a 68RFE tranny with DANA 80's I would be a very happy camper, much more so than I am now. You can't beat the new SuperDuty styling and interior, IMHO.
  23. Is he buying a new 4th gen?
  24. Alright guys I have a small confession to make..... so a buddy of mine recently got promoted at his job and part of this job is moving trailers to and from job sites frequently. The rig that the company gave him to use and drive home and back to work every day is a 2016 Ford power stroke F350. I drove it last night...... ...... H O L Y S H E E T!!! It is very fast! I wonder if @TFaoro built 2nd gen is as fast as a stock brand new powestroke.... better yet, faster! Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not a ford fanboy at all (except for the good ol’ 7.3). But I’m wondering what it would take the make my truck as “peppy” as this new ford..... at least in the acceleration department. Or is that a pipe dream that’s unattainable. Edit: I am looking at a new(er) 4th gen Cummins that’s bone stock with a heavily built 68rfe.
  25. Is there a good write up somewhere on how to wire the grid heaters to a toggle switch? Where one could flip them off once their job is done and the truck is started and running. I mean I don’t see the need for them to continue to cycle for minutes after the truck is started. Edit: one of these days when I move to Phoenix, won’t ever need the grids again haha
