  1. A. Enjoy the big sand box. Guess depends on your job. Some people actually like it. B. Look at pdf then down to specifications. First thing listed is required psi of 50. That was the meaning of my post. Do our 5.9 make enough psi in oil flow to make spinner work. My understanding on a good day at max we could hit 50 or close to it. Maybe not enough for spinner to even spin.
  2. Anybody using a spinner? If so how's it working out? I thought the lowest psi rated spinner operated at the our 5.9 max output. In other words, not effective on our size.
  3. Mine Failed because of 1 cross threaded bolt installed by a guy claiming to be mechanic. Came all the way from AZ to WA with diapers and bailing wire wrapped around tank. Also same mechanic that screwed up drawstraw. That is why drawstraw and bulkhead fitting in pic. Then found this site and started doing my own stuff. Took me over a year to find another tank. I left out return line...mine flows back in right next to uptake pipe.
  4. For me... bulkhead fitting in top of fuel module then thread on a PVC pipe with little bit of thread sealer. Other end file a notch about size of 16 penny nail. At bottom 2 quarters space at bottom for fuel to get sucked up. Bottom of tank dies deflect some empty or full, so measurement at bottom critical to prevent 1/4 issues. Or fass has one I think $95.00 but you drill a hole in tank. My fass drawstraw sucked air where pipe slips over ribbed fitting. Side note I would never do the sump route again, where you drill a hole at bottom of tank and hope road debris dont get you or tiny rubber o ring is ok. Red round thing in pic is fass drawstraw.
  5. To me always interesting what people use to improvise, and many times better than oem. I never would of thought of screen door clips. Good job.
  6. Good info... Imo of how in tank filter gets so dirty. Most gas stations have filters only down to 20 micron and hard telling how many station filters are in bypass mode. And on top of your tank there is a vent with no filter at all. Although the vent is small in size I put on a gas filter for 1968 vw but fuel filter using a chunk of hose.
  7. I agree with pos to pdc lug. Where is your neg side hooked to? Mind not looking to good, clean wise.
  8. Only difference with my old versus new batteries is a new airdog that is hooked up to positive side of battery. Where the old fass was hooked up to the positive side, I have no idea where. Work was done for me, and pretty bad job imo.
  9. Very interesting and good info. (My off the shelf options I have to send entire pdf file, can't break down page by page) Thanks. Now I know why.
  10. "BEST BATTERIES" are a gamble sometimes. I had interstate for 13 years. Thought I had the record but I guess some last longer. Anyway bought same brand and cca. Now only about 1 year later my new batteries are not as good as old ones. Let truck sit for week at 12.65 and one week later and they are at 12.25. Could be something elec but battery load test they dont perform as well as old ones do. So "best batteries" are a crap shoot sometimes.
  11. I understand what a Big, big pain. I helped neighbor change just the valve cover gasket. His wife also in pain watching us with our greasy hands in "her" bedroom. We also pulled side radiator to clean it but not as bad as working under the bed. Wonder what Cummins would get for a head job? Wonder if Cummins would require a signed waiver for getting stuff dirty? Maybe even just drop motor to save the heartache?
  12. Computer question Out of couriuosly... how do you post just pages of fsm?
  13. I understand the return line goes thru more fuel then vp44. OK, I ve been wanting a access point to drain fuel into 5 gallon bucket or help somebody out that needs couple gallons. I think my return line is 3/16 but not certain. Does the return line need to be a certain size to create pressure on anything to keep things working right?
  14. Did you bring mallet with you, might of needed it.
  15. I have most of the makings for a gauge to check if EB is adjusted where it's supposed to be. The gauge, then to a grease line then to "something" that won't melt then into testing hole in EB A metal tube or hose of some sorts to fitting on eb. Thinking about using short brake line or water supply line. Just need something that won't melt. Any ideas? And anybody know if brake line fittings are NPT thread? Is household plumbing NPT?
  16. I have not used any bleeder but want to get these for a 1 ton Ford that leaves driveway over 12,000 pounds and chews thru brakes. Briefly checking online these seem to be good. But in real world dont know. What type/brand have you checked out? http://www.russellperformance.com/mc/speed-bleeders/
  17. Didnt read entire post real closely but what you describe is what my fass did. I would lookup. https://fassride.com/tech-support/technical-guide-troubleshooting/ The bucket test that mine failed, was fraustraighting.
  18. I sprayed power from spray can (foot spray or something) really helped me hone in on exact location of my leak.
  19. Out of curiosity and I really dont know... Why is diesel harder to start when cold. Pistons still compressing the same. Not talking about diesel that is frozen in line somewhere.
  20. Not sure how much of my post you can apply to your set up. I have airdog 95 and have carter pump as a back up only. Using shut off valves I can install carter in 20 min. Never had to prime but I dont lose any fuel out of the line because of shut off valves. My carter 12 psi most and wot 7 psi. My fuel line bypasses OEM filters, line goes from pump to vp44 with filters on airdog pump. Carter pump just keeps me from getting stranded somewhere.
  21. Yes bolts break very easy...and local dealer was $9.00 for one bolt. And they couldnt find rubber o ring gasket. Looked closely at what I had and went with old o ring No problems yet. Spec torque in book somewhere, and can't remember for sure but 12 inch pounds not foot pounds sticks in my mind. But confirm in manual. And throw away my harbor freight torque wrench after that. My fishing scale and bit of rope on a box end wrench took place of 1/4 inch HF torque wrench.
  22. For me, I think soot is big killer of diesels so I change it often (7000 miles). Soot that is mixed in with oil gets dumped at a change. I'm not going to spend money on fancy oil for that amount of miles. Valvoline 15 40 for me.
  23. Yes spark plugs and wouldn't be best to have oil analyzed before putting it in, you know to make sure the oil is good?
  24. You dont happen to have a part number or maybe year of Volvo for these? Long time Cummins place moved and now 20 miles south of me. Volvo dealer is only about 8 miles. Thanks
  25. Page 86 of lmc truck. Last 2 items might be handy?
