  1. In order: - Two of the mounting studs for the stock turbo are in the turbo flange, the other two are in the manifold. Those bolts replace the two lost. - I believe that is an adaptor for first gen oil supply lines. Not needed on a 2nd gen. - That is oil return to the block. - That is an optional shaft speed sensor port. Is not drilled all the way and will not be a boost leak. - J hook not needed on this model of turbo. Most control the wategate via an adjustable boost elbow or just leave it alone. - Yes, the supplied hoose goes between those two fittings. - IIRC, those numbers are references to the balancing process. Will check because now I'm curious.

  4. Stock engine timing map is fairly retarded. Stock motor can handle more pressure than the HX can provide.
  5. I did say I was being dumb. Not even mad about it. Was more relieved it wasn't the transmission. I don’t think they exploded as much as they just sheared themselves.
  6. Key to large injectors. Mine haze horribly when cold but are very tolerable when warm. 305 bar too.

  8. @Jonny what's your elevation? I'm at 6000 feet and Westin at Infinite Performance just upped my pop pressures on my 6x0.013's to compensate. I'm surprised they told you no.
  9. Crank won't turn as the springs are compressing. There is no longer a connection to the cam shaft. It is all vertical movement.
  10. My timing has always been around that level. Never seen above 19 mpg when running like that. I've had timing as high as 28* before. No additional benefits.
  11. Another idea. Have you checked your exhaust manifold for missing bolts or cracks?
  12. ARP 2000 series is what I use. Work perfectly fine for my application. I used a Craftsman torque wrench. Checked a stud a month and a half later and it was dead on torqued still.
  13. VCO and SAC are different nozzle types. VCO stands for Valve Covered Orifice. SAC stands for something too. VCO is stock style. The 7 x 0.010 number is the hole count in the nozzle, and 0.010 number is the orifice size in inches. A 7 x 0.010 is roughly 150 HP. For studs, no rocker arm modifications are needed for a 24v. The modification you are referring to is to the common rail trucks, as they have a two piece rocker cover. On our VP 24v trucks, some need a bit of clearancing on the #24 stud at the top of the valve cover, some do not. Mine did not need it.
  14. My thought is that if he is the second owner, maybe the PO flashed a smarty or superchips tune on the ecm and neglected to mention that.

  16. I did not use those. 1) the autometer variant would not fit in the glowshift pod, and 2) the gauges are snug fit.

  19. Yeah, you were right to take the front end down. Looks way better than it could've.
  20. If you reuse studs and torqued them correctly the first time, there is no need for a retorque, as the stretch is already out.
  21. Did anyone mention that it might be a boost leak? Not sure I saw that....
  22. Gasket maker shouldn't contract after a heat cycle, but try tightening all the front cover bolts again. Either that or a new leak in the vacuum pump seal would be my guess.
  23. Allison isn't the end-all be-all that everyone thinks it is. A well built 47RE will be more than enough for your goals. You will be pushing a stock Allison pretty close to its max for what you want to do. Tow pig / fun vehicle can be had with a single 62 or 64.5 mm. If you're dead set on compounds, an HX35/475 combination and 7 x 0.011's for a good 525ish HP. If you're looking for more, larger secondary turbos are available. And yes, compounds will have more turbo whistle. Then the next question is exhaust housing sizes. The tighter you go, the more low end torque you have, but less top end horsepower. Studs and valve springs are a necessity with what you want to do. Finally, you may consider jumping to a tuner with wiretap capability, such as the Adrenaline V2.
  24. Just use the profile for your pickup. There's some goofy things that go on in the quadzilla only profile, since they do all their beta stuff in it.
