  1. It’s a two wire hook up, grounded it on the floor by the seat and ran the power wire to my extra fuse block under the hood. I wanted to hook it to a switched power source so I could leave it on and it would warm up when I used my remote start. I need to clean up my under dash wiring though, got some fuse taps and such and don’t even remember what they are for. It’s on my expanding list of things to do to my truck next year.
  2. My new Mustang has spoiled me with its heated seats but unfortunately I can’t drive it in the snow. I found this universal seat heater at work and decided to give it a try. It was pretty easy to install as the factory covers kind of snap on. I didn’t even remove the top cover, just opened the bottom and had enough room to slide it up inside. There was plenty of space on the switch panel for the new switch as well. It works great, I put it on high and it heats up quickly. I usually drop it down to low after a bit though. It costs about $70 and took less than an hour to install.
  3. It didn’t so much as stall as I let go of the key as soon as I heard the first sound of combustion and it wasn’t ready to go out on its own yet. It started the first try today as I made sure to hold the key a little longer until it was practically running. There was no voltage drop though, initially or even after it was running as I know the heater continues to cycle until certain parameters are met.
  4. No, I was standing outside the truck reaching in to start it so I didn’t see the gauge. I’ll check it out tomorrow.
  5. When my truck is plugged in and has sat all weekend, it will fire right up. I went to leave work today, the wts light ran for a normal amount of time but the truck fired for a second and died. It did that 3 times, the 4th time it fired up and ran a tad rough for a moment and then smoothed right out. I figured if I was losing fuel prime it would do that all the time, especially when sitting for extended periods.
  6. It’s at LMC truck, runs about $80.
  7. The posi lock is a cable system that replaces the vacuum portion of the cad setup on your axle. To engage the axle disconnect you pull a knob that physically activates it instead of relying on the vacuum diaphragm. There is also a version that just permanently connects the axle halves which is what I would probably use if I had a free spin kit. Regarding the vacuum topic though, if you didn’t mess with the vacuum lines on your axle you may just have a leak somewhere else in the system. My cruise control behaving the way yours is clued me into my leak. I got a new vacuum harness from Rock auto which fixed my problem. You can also find it on Amazon. Mopar part number 55056421AA.
  8. Vacuum would be my first thought as well. Did you do anything with the vacuum lines on the axle? I thought about a free spin kit but as I get older, I enjoy not having to get out and lock hubs. I did get the posi lock a few years ago but have yet to install it. I got it when I was having intermittent vacuum issues. I replaced the under hood vacuum lines and haven’t had any issues since.
  9. If your seatbelts are stiff or slow to retract, I found this little trick online that really helped mine out. I was constantly having to force feed my seatbelts back into the retractors and it was driving me nuts. I got some clamps, pulled my belts all the way out and used the clamps to hold them out. I filled two medium sized bowls with hot water and dawn dish soap and let the belts soak overnight. The next day I changed the water and used a brush to scrub them a bit and then did my best to dry them with a towel. I left the widows down and let the belts finish air drying for the day. When I removed the clamps the belts were slow to retract from having the springs compressed for so long but they bounced back after a few uses. Now my seatbelts work like new, no more force feeding them in.
  10. Got to spend a day at L&L classic auto in Wendell, ID last week. They have 120 acres of vehicles from the 20’s and up. They loaned us a trailblazer for $10 to tool around the yard in. My friend Dan got some parts for his 59 Plymouth and my other friend Matt got a door for his 82 mustang. The yard was awesome, my only complaint would be the pricing. They tell you when you get there not to remove anything until you get a price just in case you don’t like it. Thankfully I was only there for the scenery and to help scout.
  11. I finally got around to installing my Geno’s dash top and junkyard dash core. This also marks the near completion of my interior color swap. The only thing I have left to do is paint the overhead console. I also installed a new pioneer head unit I had ordered several years ago as well. It’s so nice having everything on the dash attached to something else. I used a dash core from a slightly older truck which only has the one driver side power port. I didn’t realize my airbag switch wouldn’t fit so I hid it behind the dash and got the other power port from the junkyard that properly filled the hole.
  12. Had one rear tire out of whack. Took it to schwabs and they did a road force balance on it, where they apply pressure to the tire while they balance it. Never heard of that before but it did the trick.
  13. I got the truck on stands and ran it up to several speeds and drive shaft appears nice and smooth. The tires looked odd though so next task will be getting them out on a balance machine.
  14. I didn’t notice any missing weights, I jacked up all four corners and everything is tight. I retorqued all the wheels to 120ft/lbs although they were all still tight. I figure I can have the tires rebalanced just in case and get the truck on some jack stands and watch the drive shaft spin around to see if it’s out of focus.
  15. That could make sense, I did have a new set of powder coated 3rd gen wheels installed not too long ago. I’ll look and see if I notice any missing weights.
  16. Drove the truck to work last week, noticed the truck vibrating at 60mph. It went away when I sped up to get on the interstate. When I left work I noticed it at 35mph and went away by 40. It was off and on at 60 on the rest of the way home. Under load or coasting didn’t seem to matter either. It doesn’t feel like it’s in the steering, just through the rest of the truck. I did check the rear drive shaft and everything felt tight. I had the front and rear shafts rebuilt and balanced when the trans was built about 50k miles ago. The only thing I know is a little worn is my track bar, was mentioned when I had the trans serviced last year. The heat has kept me from doing any real investigating so thankfully it’s not a daily driver. Just trying to think of something that makes sense as I really thought it would have been a drive shaft issue.
  17. Wow, that’s totally different from the other setups I’ve seen.
  18. I occasionally have a similar issue with my FASS pump. It will quit working usually when I first start the truck. My issue is the contacts in the relay are getting dirty. I fix it by unplugging and plugging it back in a few times. It only happens about once a year though.
  19. I had that problem too for awhile when I first got my Quadzilla. The load would change which would adjust the timing and alter the engine sound. Reducing my load and having Mike help me with my tuning got it to go away. I would start by unplugging the Edge as mentioned and see if it’s malfunctioning. It may be time for an upgraded tuner.
  20. Not yet, my registration renews in a month or two so I’ll change it then.
  21. Hopefully now the truck is a tad more visible and won’t get hit a 3rd time.
  22. Does anyone have an older 60’s though early 80’s 318/360 that has power steering and an alternator? I need pics of the brackets that hold them on. We are putting a 1972 318 from an RV into a 1959 Plymouth Fury and we tossed most of the RV stuff because it was really funky looking and now we can’t seem to get anything else to line up. We’ve gone to junkyards and tried googling images but can’t seem to find what we need.
  23. Here’s a teaser, I went with a two tone set up this time and this is the stripe that will separate them. I might get the truck back tomorrow so I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
  24. When my wife was doing the chemo she went and got her hair cut short and got several wigs. She didn’t lose all her hair, probably 60-70% of it though. There were a few times I found her crying in the shower covered in hair. Still breaks my heart thinking about it. Unfortunately her hair grows rather slowly. It’s been over 2 years since the last treatment and her hair is almost as long as it used to be. At least it grew back the same though. My Aunt Kathy had breast cancer and used to have straight hair. Now it grows curly.
