i'm with dually on the the turbo elbow make sure its sealed and o-ring is good. the sending is going out but you have to buy the whole canister,as far as my research has found.Mine quit working, the float fell off the arm, sending unit was ok,(bought a new autometer generic unit for the float) but when i re-installed i think i didnt get the canister positioned right so the gauge sticks.

how to discharge a/c system charge without killing myself
Enviro treehumping weirdo crap, just something to make al gore money. That enviro crap is why they got rid of R12 and aerosol spray. I'm of the opinion that these reclaim/recycle regs are just another way to get money/taxes! When ever i have A/C problems it leaks completely out PRIOR to me working on any components:cry:

Loosen the 10mm bolt in the back of compressor, I think R135 can be vented Just not R12.(thats why R12 is costs almost what GOLD is a ounce) Make sure you remove valve cover, wiper blades and plastic cowl so you can pull out the back 4 push rods!

:thumb1:I'll have to find the pics i took of the brackets, you want the FSO 8406A and yes you have the FSO correct the 840 is the nominal torque 6 # of gears. You need the SAE #2 thats a tight fit,the web site i gave you had a few on it(Cummins ISB/5.9)the #2 Bell housing will mate up, if you look close they have Trans mounting tabs(use a sawsall and cut them off).I'm sure you can order from Cummins or Freightliner, would be very costly, starter access needs to be RIGHT SIDE. On the road now when i get home i'll look up some part #'s. The driveshaft needs lengthened/and larger u-joint in front, the slip/spline in the center is for travel of rear axle.Solid from Trans to Center mount. Go to www.grimmjeeper.com/gears.html both the NV5600 and Eaton Fuller FSO 8406A are listed showing ratio's/rpm's/speed/tire size's to compare side by side.

:hyper:I did my conversion a little different as far as brackets etc. I could'nt get the dodge master cylinder to work so bought a new one for a class 8 volvo(made a adapter bracket for it also. I 've got pic's of brackets if you want them,as well as part #'s for the master cyl.,starter. I cut this shift lever off the 8406 shift tower and brazed the curved section of the NV5600 tower to it so i could use my original stick. --- Update to the previous post... When you get the bell housing you'll see what he's showing, when you push in the clutch it physically pulls the the pressure plate back from the flywheel vs the throw-out bearing pushing on the fingers to draw the pressure plate back ,the throw-out bearing is part of the clutch assy. not separate.

Original went 388k snapped main shaft, the reman had the bearing in the rear case seize up,yea thought i'd get more miles on the Reman since i was babying it.And it went out in CA,had to give up my load,7 days lost revenue(motel, meals and booze & $4500) wish it would have lasted just 2800 more miles!

nv5600 junk
I'd get on the internet and search used medium/heavy duty salvage yards that's how i found my tranny/sae#2 adapter, bell housing, slave cyl. Also check E-Bay Never had Blumenthals ever work on my NV5600 ,have just bought parts from them and know they are a New Venture Auth Reman. First NV5600 had ITP in Salina tore it apart, they did'nt have a Reman in their system they had to get from a Reman Facility in Portland,OR and tacked an extra $1000 on their cost to me.So i'd also keep an eye on ITP or any one you deal with. Can't remember the name of the place in Portland(thier Reman only lasted 188k)but they did buy 2 NV5600 cores from me for $750 a piece. --- Update to the previous post... Go to www.HeavyTruckParts.Net there are several SAE#2 Flywheel housing's for $300(Kadinger's Heavy Duty TruckS & Parts inc. 715-643-4212)

The 5 Spd is made buy New Venture also 6 Spd is a heavier trans, call Blumenthal's in OKC PH# 405-236-4800/www.blumenthalmfg.com . I went through 3 NV5600,my first one went 388k before snapping the main shaft,it made no noise, just lost all gears, but i'm always towing weight. Finally swapped in a Fuller 8406 6 Spd 14" clutch Holds 840 lbs ft of nominal torque NV5600 later models hold 650 lbs ft of torque.Followed somewhat what another guy did in NM,not sure of his web site, just do a search for NV5600 swap on the internet(i'm sure someone has it on this site saved)

Water leak after 24 valve rebuild
Don't need to get in a p****ing contest over trying to help this guy,but if your read my post i said(a very thin coat) just enough to fill any small imperfections on either surface, not in place of a gasket. But i'm Impressed with the v12/v16 engines

Water leak after 24 valve rebuild
Well i used a little sealant when i rebuilt my engine at 450k not a leak yet at 768k,guess i really messed something up!
-
Water leak after 24 valve rebuild
Did you use any RTV(very thin coat) on the gaskets? Are the any gouges in any of the surfaces? Just can't think of why this is giving you such a problem. wish i had a simple answer. You did replace your water outlet gasket with the right one while you was at it.

Manual trans swap.
Last on i bought was told it was out of an 06.

Manual trans swap.
As for the the NV4500/NV5600 NEW VENTURE went belly up so NV4500's have'nt been produced since then either. Think last year was 06 in dodge, don't hold me to that. NV5600 as far as finding "hard parts",still plenty for the 4x4,2WD hard to find. The "Hard parts" is'nt what goes out it's the bearings, mainly in the rear housing(lack of fluid),bearing kits are available as well as "Hard Parts" if you know where to look.I can understand trucks setting at DEALERSHIPS waiting for parts, because they won't go outside thier network.I've been through 3 NV5600 only one had a hard part failure(broke a mainshaft) other 2 were bearing failure and in my case not for lack of fluid just stress pulling loads. Alot of NV5600 owners add an extra quart(dodge wants $20 a quart, pennsoil makes syncromesh that meets Dodge/Ford/GM fluid requirement's for about $6 a quart)to provide better lubrication to the rear shaft.Later model NV5600 will handle 650lbs of torque/early models i think were less 600-625lbs torque if i remember correctly. As for HP/Torgue i'm sure the NV4500 will handle 500HP with a bed full of Sail Boat Fuel. 2001 3500 2wd 245hp mainly stock/Fuller 8406 6spd 14"clutch/115 gal aux tank /769k

Water leak after 24 valve rebuild
My money's on the water outlet, unless you did'nt use a gasket on the oil cooler ,then i'd bet on both, ever has a question call cummins or frieghtliner, just don't tell frieghtliner it's a 5.9 in a dodge, give them the engine#

Water leak after 24 valve rebuild
Sorry i was'nt able to help you prior to you putting this back together. thought it would have come with your gasket kit, hope you hav'nt charged your A/C system yet.
-
Water leak after 24 valve rebuild
Was it a flat round gasket that rest's in a recessed area in the block, like i posted on your earlier post when you was asking if there was a gasket?
-
Water leak after 24 valve rebuild
Did'nt you post awhile back asking if there was a gasket that went in were the water outlet bolts to the block?

A/C Problem
Let me know where you find the bearings(web site, part# etc.),when mine went out i searched all over, the only thing i could find was a complete compressor. the days of rebuilding a lot of stuff(i.e. wheel cyls, master cyls,A/C compressors) are almost gone just can find the repair parts. Heck here in Omaha only a few REAL Machine Shops left.
